Board of Managers

It's been a long while since i updated my blog.. Well let me quickly update it..
Tonight I was voted into the Board of Managers for my condominium. There was 7 seats total, and two of them belong to the owner and the guy who rents the parking garage. That leaves 5 seats left for board members to be voted in. So tonight there was a meeting for all the units in our building. 60+ units in all. Everyone that owns one of these unit is either a doctor, lawyer, business owner, or someone important. Well there was about 10 or more people that was nominated to be on the new 2008 Board of Managers. I was one of them. The nominees introduced themselves. I didn't prepare any speech at all, just spoke right from the top of my head. Introduced myself, profession, joked a bit, and told everyone there that I will help solve any issues that they might have if i am voted in. It was very short compare to the other speech but it was to the point.
So after the introductions were made, ballots were handed out, and each condo unit owner was allow to vote for 5 people. I voted for myself of course lol.. I was like damn.. I'm like the youngest guy here.. I might not get that many votes... Some of these guys had long speeches like it was a presidential election or something. After the ballots was collected, we headed over to the restaurant for a free dinner with all the unit owners. Was able to meet a few fellow owners and chat with them. Then the final results was in.. I made it!
I had more than enough votes to be on the Board of Managers. There was a tie for the last spot, but one of the person stepped down and the other guy was in.
So this is a pretty big deal.. I have the power get things done for over 60+ condo units.. Great way to network with some very influential and rich people.
Good stuff, but of course I'll have to do some work as one of the board of managers.
The restaurant served some interesting but good food. It started with dim sum(my fav!) and then later there was shrimp with walnuts (my 2nd favorite dish), fried rice, curry noodles, chicken, beef, and some fruits for dessert. Not bad at all. Didn't fill me up much.. I'm hungry as I type this. I actually have a video of them announcing the winners and me stepping on stage.. I'll try to get that uploaded later and post it.
