Greetings...
hi... i'm new here,
Though Malaysia has a very good economy, but we lack behind in sports. Why aa?
Espcially in soccer. I believe most of the Malaysian can gives name for the England stiker, Brazil Midfielder watsoever. But i think if somebody ask them who is the Malaysia top stiker, i don't think they can answer that.
During Mokhtar Dahari era, we can beat Japan and South Korea easily. But now...
People say that the present player is just aiming for the money. I strongly believe that but i think the Euro players wage is 20 - 30 times larger than the Malaysian, but still they can perform well for their country...
How sad... huhuhu
this is an area where many newspapers and talkshows have been discussing about, and until now, there is no known answer as to why we're not performing
there are a lot of reasons why, but i dunno, its too broad to mention it here ^^;;
Malaysia keep hiring stupid national coaches and these coaches keep selecting mediocre players while overlooking the excellent ones.
i dont quite understand the point of this post, care to explain?
I think he posted this to figure out the reason of the sudden deteriorating standard of M'sian soccer.
As noted above, the M'sian team was pretty strong (a long time ago). However, I think that the loss to the Laos team (which was not the favourites to win) during one of the championships really hit most of the M'sian soccer fans hard.
There was a debate in parliament recently about our football slump performance.
The debate is comparing football and sepak takraw. Sepak Takraw..?
Hmm.. Interesting...
The debate is between FAM vice pres. and Johor Sepak Takraw assoc. president.
Well.. both sports are getting worse and worse... Sepak Takraw is said originated
from Malaysia and Thailand. But we lose to Myanmar a few back years ago. Myanmar..?
I only see the field hockey as our sole saviour in the team sport. And most of the
hockey palyer is eduacted.. May be they should implement that to our football team.
Those who want to play for Malaysia must have at least a diploma.. Howzatt?
malaysian soccer???
i think it never will get any better hahaha
i just dunno why they cant get any better...
the fans love them though...
they have to do somthing more to show their appreciation to their true fans
good luck
Dunno lah, not many Malaysians are into sports nowadays, despite us having the Akademi Sukan negara or whatever. We need a catalyst like what the Thomas Cup win did for badminton in 1991. More and more Msians are going for jobs in air-conditioed offices, no one really does sport as much as we used to.
^yup agree.. because many parents nowadays think profession as a professional soccer player wouldn't last long. retired in early age and didn't make big money...
Yea. But I think it's how our society perceive people who are in sports as well. A lot of them think that those who are into sports do not have a bright future.
This year, Selangor won treble title... --->Premier league, FA cup and Malaysia Cup. Newspapers said the selangor's fan are coming back to the stadium. But from what i saw, more than half of the supporters are indonesian. and more than halves of the total goal scored is done by indonesian player.
Hahaha. I didn't realise that rx7boy and I posted almost the same thing at the same time.
NOOOO. Go away go away. Shooh.
::frightened::
even my teacher who is japanese said, early 80`s , M`sia easily beat Japan,
those Mokhtar Dahari time....
but now
Yea. You are the one spooky. Hehe.

I think if i live in UK, i can join those hooligans..
No more China is the Asia zone? Hehe.
Anyway I am looking forward to an exciting World Cup.
one day i'll give birth to a well known malaysian swimmer
^wah, don't do fortune telling maa.. tak elok...
erh???this is not fortune telling...this is my dream
Next year is definitely a great sporting year. Melbourne Commonwealth Games 2006, FIFA World Cup 2006, Doha Asian Games 2006.. what else?! Hmm..
@yana: Hope to see your sons or daughters or both a pro swimmer.
hehe..yeah...thank you...i want them to be pro martial artist too
Wow.
Greece the European Champion failed to qualify.
In my opinion, we only have the players to blame for making our standard of football below par amongst the other Asian powerhouses. Lack of national pride & love for the game is a recipe for disaster for any country. If that doesnt change then sad to say Malaysia will never ever qualify for the World Cup Finals.
^keh keh keh.. He's Old already laa...
hahahaha...doesnt mean i have to marry a sportsman to get a child to grow up as a sportsman...lol...thats a good one...kinda bring back my mood...but no way...i dont mind someone who is old anyway rx7....but maybe not THAT old...LOL..
Some Football Associations cannot even pay their player salaries. No wonder our football sucks.
^^yeah...thats for sure...but i dont think there will be changes on this one at all..
We need a big money professional league
but to we must become a rich country first.
Otherwise the teams cannot afford to pay big salaries.
^^True true
i will buy you guys tickets for world cup final if malaysia is playing the finals
i hope i wont be having osteoporosis when malaysia finally find a way to be better in soccer like we used to

FAM consider Malaysia Cup invite for Singapore
IPOH: The FA of Malaysia are proposing to invite Singapore for next year’s Malaysia Cup competition.
FAM vice president Datuk Raja Ahmad Zainuddin Raja Omar said the proposal would be discussed at the FAM Council meeting to seek the views of all the states.
Singapore won the Malaysia Cup 24 times, the last in 1994 before pulling out of the M-League.
On another matter, Raja Ahmad Zainuddin said Indonesia have proposed an annual competition with Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam starting in January.
“The proposal will be presented to the football associations of the four countries,” he said. – Bernama
END
Do you guys think this is a good idea? If I recall correctly, only Selangor won the Malaysia Cup more often than Singapore. Nothing rallies the crowd better than a match against Singapore, likewise whenever I went to Kallang Stadium in Singapore, the crowd really went all out when it was against a Malaysian side, ie almost always!
2
And soon, a proper ASEAN Cup?
I agree it's a good idea. M'sians have been fighting M'sians for too long and they are losing their fighting spirit. Probably they should invite the other countries' players so that their competitiveness would increase. M'sian footballers have been slacking for far too long.
OT: I remember when I was young I use to support the S'gor team.
Back then, most people loved M'sian soccer. There was once, when my cousins and I were in the car.. and one of the S'gor match just ended. We saw a lot of motorcyclist carrying the S'gor flag.. we opened the window and screamed.. "Siapa Menang?!" Then this Malay guy from the backseat of the motorcycle carried the Selangor Flag and said.. KITA MENANG! I was so proud. But those were the days.
^Oh, so caramel sokong Selangor ya!
LOL. Me, I'm a KL supporter. My time was when Fandi Ahmad played for us, and he's Singaporean! But actually, I also tumpang proud when Selangor wins, neighbour mah!
2
LOL. Well, S'gor is my Kampung.. where I am brought up.. and where I love grewing up in.
kuala lumpur team is the worst
Hobin jang Hobin!!!
The playoff stage just finished last night..
Teams that qualify are
Australia
Czech Republic
Spain
Switzerland
Trinidad & Tobago
Even Trinidad & Tobago also qualified for the world cup...
Asia has too many lousy referees especially from poor countries.
If those corrupt match officials are put in charge of important qualifying matches between a poor country and a rich Asian country like Kuwait or Japan, the poor country is likely to get screwed.
wahh.. Selangor = Man Utd.
At the 23rd SEA games, Malaysia sail to the semi-final after they won 4-2 against the Phillipine. Seems like the pinoys are cacthing up..
Next match against Vietnam.
Does Msian tv show any of the SEA Games events live? Maybe RTM or one of the Astro channels?
Only TV1 .
^Hmm.. thought as much.
Malaysia Vs. Vietnam.. when?
lol..I got many Vietnamese friends here.. This will be pretty interesting..
Malaysia vs Vietnam on Friday.
We lost 2-1 to the Viet.
By the way, Malaysia Super League will start tomorrow... Sokonglah pasukan anda!!!
^that's a shame...
so it's gonna be a Malaysia-Indonesia affair for third place then
Hehe... wonder who Aran's gonna support!!

MSL results..

Selangor VS Perak 1-4
Perlis VS Tel. Mlk 1-1
P.P VS MPPJ 0-0
Selangor lose 1-4.. What happen?
Selangor, they won treble cup last year.. the best in 2005 and Dollah Salleh nearly becomes national coach..
Selangor, this year = sunderland in EPL. Lost in almost every game.. pity them...
well, that the football scenario in Malaysia..
when we gonna win WC? never!
when we gonna enter WC? never!
no la. dunno la. i think its our football governing body (FAM?) which doing a bad job. there is/was so much talent in m'sia but i think all wasted. our league was not doing so bad around '95 before they came up with the STUPID idea to ban foreign imports into the liga. from then the quality just sucked a lot, even after scrapping that stupid idea. i remember i think it was around '94-'97(?) when sabah had scott ollenrenshaw, matlan marjan, khairul azman, etc., that was quite a good period. also the bribery scandal around that time contributed to our further decline in quality.
p/s: selangor = man U wannabe
why is selangor the only team with no animal mascot? all other states has an animal as a mascot, eg: sarawak crocs, sabah rhino. tiba2, selangor RED GIANTS.
(dont take seriously, just friendly rivalry
) GO RHINOS!!
YESH, Perak is da bomb!!
now Perak = Chelsea... hooray for the victory!!
Myteam Vs. Malaysia this upcoming May.. which team will win??
It is Malaysia's team that need to win not my team..
It is a very interesting show anyway...
My Team won a few of their friendly's game

MT vs. PKNS -> 1-0
MT vs. Kedah -> dun know..
I wonder what will happen if MT wins against Malaysia this May..? or nothing will happen?
wth is myteam? im a bit left behind la
when is my team going to lawan against the malaysian team?
28th may ni kut..
i wanna support my team...i think they can beat the malaysian players
Some update dudes..

Pahang Vs. Perlis in FA CUP Final
Malaysia under 20 team won against Man. Utd. academy 4-1..
Selangor lost to S'pore during the Piala Sultan Selangor

How did Johor do in the League?
[color=#33FFFF]is the attitude la, win a bit then got cocky like badminton player also. after 1984 winning Thomas Cup... till now never...
But i think 3030 Malaysia can win World Cup, my hamster told me
o dear. 3030 ??? so long la have to wait. your hamster must be very wise.

by the way...who won the malaysian league?
I forgot to mention this, Pahang won the FA cup.. (suka la tu Yana..)
@yana - there many league in Malaysia, but the one that we really concetrate is super league and premierleague.. Super league is the highest level in Malaysia, which mean N.9 won it ....
Hahaha.... My team lost to Malaysia Under-20... 2-1... That match really sux.. a lot of emotional act.. and for sure, the My team is lack of profesionnalism there.. Shebby singh should do something about this.. I think if My Team Vs. Malaysia senior, they will lost in larger margin.. what do you expect from a team that only assemble in three months only..
Anyway, i really like My Team spirit...
yeay yeay pahang menang...ala takpe la...tak menang besar pun takpe...asalkan menang jugak
about the myteam thing...hmmm...i didnt watch...tapi kire ok la tu diorang dapat 1 goal...
heh, myteam score first , then the captain got red card right?? lol..
wahh...myteam scored first?...pergh...
I feel a bit pity when the malaysian team were booed by the fans during the My team game.. It really made me sad.. The patriotisme among the soccer fan are really low.. damn.. !!
The malaysian team are only the under 20 Malaysia team.. and the have to face nearly 60,000 fans that booed at them..
MyTeam couldn't even play football that night... and yet, the man of the match is Arun, the scorer for My team..
i still think myteam is better
Heheh.. the football fever hasn't cool off yet.. lets continue with Piala Malaysia..
Piala Malaysia has started during the World Cup month..
Selangor is on the tip of iceberg now.. they lost two of their game..
and N.9 are doing great.. hahaha... Hobin Jang Hobin..
Well.. I have the saddest news here.. Malaysians, forget about seeing Malaysia in world cup.. at least not in the next or in 2014.. do you know why..?
Malaysia ranked at 146 in Fifa rankings.. Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam are all above us..
And the saddest part is, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is ranked higher than us.. Somebody... please save our soul
if myteam lost coz fight against under 21... if fight with the senior sure win... senior national player they ego only high, skill not as high as the youngster... old man always wanna show off to junior... our under 21/20 is great, they defeat MU academy
^ so sad. given also the fact that football is widely played by malaysians. i remember seeing a chart somewhere saying that about 80% of malaysians first choice sport is football. compare that with USA, where probably only 20% or less play football..
When we gonna win world cup?
It's not going to happen, not even in the next twenty or thirty years.I am not trying to be mean, but Malaysia football team is sooo far behind. How are we going to beat those top teams from other countries, considering our team is so unproductive and incompetent?Unless some dramatic changes are made.
malaysia to become a top football is hard... but dont take 20 or 30 years... 1-2years enough if the management of malaysian football not involve with politics... atleast if cannot be the top in the world but with new management without politic influent malaysia can be top 5 in asia
Yarr..I also believe Malaysia could be in the tops in Asia but too much stupid politics and bad management ruined Malaysia's potential. Of all the ASEAN nations, I believe Malaysians are the most crazy about football...
I believe the My Team is an excellent idea and shows that there are many talented Malaysian football players out there
i heard many soccer bodies esp FAM practices racism when it comes to training, selection, etc. dunno if this is true la. but if it is, this is another reason why our football SUCKS big time
I think the FAM president is OK. I mean he quit his post as Vice Chancillor of Universiti Kuala Lumpur just to head FAm.....I believe he has the passion to turn Malaysia football around..
Another bad news.. Malaysia U-20 lost to santos 7-0 and flamengo 3-0..
I think we should put some hope in winning the world cup on the women's team too. The men's team need a really BIG BOOST.
Football can be a rough physical game at times but there's no reason not to enjoy the sport. Women can play the sport too, there are many girls in the country that are really interested in football, there should be more support for the women's team.
The reason sports in Malaysia is so
is that nobody actually promotes sports to the people. There are things like sports campaigns and sports schools, but when the people don't even know that there are sports facilities in every state, how are we going to improve sports in Malaysia?
Malaysians are too busy to do anything, we just can't focus on something for more a few months, students I mean. Only about 10 percent of students that are interested in sports actually go for it after studies. So the amount of good atheletes are very little. Young atheletes in Malaysia don't feel secure considering a life as an athelete
, that's why most just reach the stage of young atheletes and not professional atheletes.
Sports can at least be something fun. So, the people can at least know such sports exist and know the rules, there are Malaysians who don't even know who Wong Choong Hann is. I think subjects such as Sivik and PE can be more useful. We're supposed to learn things in these subjects not memorise stuff and forget them after exams. We can learn how to play these sports and watch the tournaments. There are students who don't like sports but for the sake of the students who really like sports, it's worth it. Then, sports in Malaysia can get
.
Hey... guys the main reason why Malaysian Football team aint doing well cos, the team is almost all malays!
only a few chinese and indians....
Long time ago, during M.dahari time, our football team did well cos the team comprmised of mixed races..

Pemain Malaysia Yang Bakal Bermain Di EPL
PETALING JAYA ?

NEW KIT FOR TIGERS
7th Jan 2007 – The Malaysian national team was presented with a new kit by new sponsors Nike in a glittering ceremony held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre tonight.
The new jerseys from the foremost sporting equipment manufacturers will make its debut when the Malaysian national team takes part in the Asean Football Championship next week in Bangkok.
The new colour is a throwback to the kit used by Malaysian national team of the 1920s while the away colour is a reflection of the colours of the Malaysian flag.
What will give further distinction to the new Malaysian kit is also the representation of the Malay ‘keris’ at the bottom left corner of each shirt.
“We give our gratitude to Nike for making this partnership a reality,” said Dato’ Redzuan Tan Sri Sheikh Ahmad, the deputy president of the FA of Malaysia (FAM) at the official launch.
“But this cooperation will not only be about Nike being our new sponsors for the national team jerseys but also part of a new plan to usher in a new era in Malaysian football.
“With their extensive links in Europe and elsewhere, we hope that we can integrate Nike’s technical ability to the success of the Road Map which will be unveiled soon by the FAM. So it is a win-win situation where FAM is looking to more than just the sale of national team shirts.”
For Tim Parkinson, the Marketing Director, Nike Southeast Asia, the partnership with the national body has been akin to a synergy where both parties can attain mutual benefit.
Parkinson said that through this new cooperation, Nike will be servicing and supplying the FAM all equipments including those for the Academy boys and where it is hope that it will get young players motivated to play in the new national colours.
“What Nike knows is the taste of success and really following our work in Brazil, Portugal and France, there is no secret to success,” added Parkinson.
“All that young players’ need is inspiration and self-belief and through this partnership, we hope that we can provide just that.
“I hope that we can help the Malaysian Tigers regain the roar of yesteryears.”
The deal with Nike is for four years with the option to extend for five more.

Malaysia 4-0 Philippines: Omar at the double

BANGKOK - Malaysia kicked their 2007 Asean Football Championship campaign off with a 4-0 defeat of the Philippines in Bangkok on Friday thanks to a double from Hairuddin Omar, a close-range strike from Nizarudin Yusof and an own goal from Anton Del Rosario.
The victory made it three Asean Football Championship wins out of three for the Tigers over the Philippines after they routed them 7-0 in the inaugural competition in 1996 and 4-1 when the two squared off in the group stage of the last tournament in Kuala Lumpur.
The 1996 runners-up went ahead after just eight minutes when Hairuddin headed home a cross from the right and to make matters worse for the Philippines skipper Ally Borromeo had to be replaced by Alvin Ocampo after the statuesque California-born stopper picked up a knee injury in the lead up to the goal.
Eight minutes later and the Malaysians doubled their advantage when Nizarudin Yusof hooked the ball home after Hairuddin headed Irwan Fadzli Idrus's corner against the Philippines' crossbar.
Hairuddin had the ball in the back of the net three minutes after the interval but referee Abbas Daud had spotted an infringement before the Pahang striker had headed home Hardi Jaafar's free-kick.
The Philippines made some occasional forays into the Malaysian half in an attempt to get back into the game and with 20 minutes left to play they had the ball in the net, only it was at the wrong end.
Second half substitute Eddy Helmi, who was clearly in an offside position when he took possession, cut the ball across the Philippines penalty area where it was met by the outstretched leg of Del Rosario and deflected past the luckless Louie Casas.
Ten minutes later Casas was beaten for the fourth time when Hairuddin collected a perfectly threaded pass from Hardi, shook off the attentions of Johanne Sablon and slotted the ball past the San Beda College keeper to seal a comfortable win for the Malaysians.
It was a deserved win for the Tigers but Philippines coach Aris Caslib must be ruing the early loss of influential skipper Borromeo, who will now be a serious doubt for their remaining matches against Myanmar and hosts Thailand.

Football: Singapore in 11-0 romp as late goal saves Indonesia's blushes
Posted: 15 January 2007 2306 hrs
SINGAPORE : Noh Alam Shah scored an astonishing seven goals as Singapore crushed Laos 11-0 while a late strike saved Indonesia's blushes against Vietnam in the Asean Football Championship on Monday.
Laos were humiliated by the defending champions at the National Stadium, going to the break three down before giving up in the second half.
Shah grabbed two goals in the first period before bagging another three in a five minute burst in the second half, wrapping it up with another two in the final minutes.
Muhammad Ridhuan, Shahril Ishak, Khairul Amri and Itimi d!ckson also got on the scoresheet.
In the night's other match, Peter Withe's Indonesia salvaged a 1-1 draw against Vietnam.
Striker Saktiawan Sinaga slammed in his second goal of the competition in the 90th minute, cancelling out an own goal by Supardi 10 minutes before half-time.
It was no more than they deserved and sets them up for their final game against Singapore on Wednesday with a semi-final slot now firmly in their sights.
Indonesia, beaten by Singapore in the final of the last tournament in 2004, are second in Group B with four points, behind Singapore on goal difference. Vietnam have two points and group whipping boys Laos none.
Only the top two teams from the two groups of four progress to the home and away semi-finals on January 23-24 and January 27-28.
Vietnam must now beat Laos on Wednesday then chew their fingernails while Indonesia and Singapore play each other to determine the outcome of the group.

Football: Thailand, Malaysia qualify for Asean championship semi-finals
Posted: 16 January 2007 2333 hrs
BANGKOK : Southeast Asian heavyweight Thailand booked its place in the Asean Football Championship semi-finals on Tuesday, with a Sarayoot Chaikamdee goal ensuring a 1-0 win over Malaysia.
Despite the loss, Malaysia crept through to the last four after the other match in Group A between Myanmar and the Philippines ended in a goalless draw.
Three-times champions Thailand topped the group with seven points from their three games, with Malaysia on five points and Myanmar on three.
Thailand's qualification went some way to avenging their embarrassing elimination in the group stages at the last tournament in Kuala Lumpur in 2004, and they had Sarayoot to thank.
His strike three minutes after the break was enough for victory.
Previous form had favoured Malaysia to defeat the Thais after beating them 2-1 and 3-1 in the group stages of the 2004 and 2002 tournament's respectively
It is Malaysia's fifth time in the semis in six editions of the championship, formerly known as the Tiger Cup.

Football: Singapore, Vietnam advance into Asean championship semi-finals
Posted: 17 January 2007 2347 hrs
SINGAPORE : Vietnam sensationally leap-frogged Indonesia into the Asean football championship semi-finals on Wednesday thanks to a 9-0 pummelling of Laos.
The Vietnamese were third in Group B after two draws in their opening games, but join Singapore in the last four on goal difference after the defending champions held Indonesia 2-2.
Singapore will play Malaysia in the two-legged semi-finals starting on January 23, while Vietnam face regional powerhouse Thailand.
But the result spells heartache for Indonesia, who miss the semis for the first time despite not losing a match and with the group's top three teams all finishing on five points.
It may also mean the end of Indonesian coach Peter Withe, who was told he must win the tournament to keep his job.
Vietnam started their goal blitz early, with Le Cong Vinh getting the first of his hat-trick before a minute had passed.
Phan Thanh Binh got four and Ngueyn Van Bien added another two, while Le Cong Vinh passed up the chance to hit double figures by missing a penalty on 56 minutes.
Hapless Laos leave with a lamentable goal difference of minus-22 in three games, their sole strike coming in the 3-1 loss to Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Indonesia twice came from behind against Singapore but could not find the winning strike in the tense 2-2 draw at National Stadium.
Noh Alam Shah put Singapore ahead with a 10th-minute penalty before Ilham Jaya Kusuma levelled for the visitors.
Indra Sahdan restored Singapore's lead shortly after half-time only for Indonesia's Zaenal Arif to hit back minutes later.
Singapore 'keeper Lionel Lewis made an excellent save from Ponaryo Astaman in the dying moments that kept their title defence on track.

So Malaysia will fight Singapore in semi. Hope Malaysia will win. But the way they play against Thailand still unconvincing and unsystematically. Malaysia need to improve their passing game and up their spirit. Go on Tiger, we can do it!!!!
Hmm.. The only game that makes Malaysia look great is during the MY-PH game.. the rest, a lot of works need to be done..
we need a school of football... a proper and dedicated one..even there's such school, the teachers and student should be chosen among the passionate and work hard ones for a future for local soccer.
even the myteam program was a dissapointment.. a loser football team..
I Hope Malaysia Win !!!!
Football: Singapore, Malaysia draw 1-1 in Asean championship semi-finals
By Patwant Singh, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 23 January 2007 2230 hrs
KUALA LUMPUR : Singapore and Malaysia drew 1-1 in their Asean Football Championship first leg semi-final match on Tuesday.
Held at Shah Alam in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia controlled most of the first half but could not find the elusive goal.
Singapore came out recharged in the second half, and came close to breaking the deadlock in the 49th minute.
But it was Malaysia's Hardi Jaafar who finally gave the home fans much to cheer about in the 57th minute, with a superb curling shot into the net.
However, Noh Alam Shah cancelled Malaysia's advantage with a header in the 72nd minute.
In the dying minutes, Singapore skipper Aide Iskandar was sent off for a second yellow card.

Thai players and officials face ASEAN final ban
BANGKOK, Feb 1 (Reuters) - Thai players and officials face suspension from the second leg of the ASEAN championship final following the team's dramatic first-leg walkout against rivals Singapore, the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) said on Thursday.
Singapore won a bitterly-fought match 2-1 on Wednesday after the Thai players walked off the field for 15 minutes following a hotly-disputed penalty award to Singapore eight minutes from time. Singapore eventually scored the penalty and won 2-1.
Anyone found guilty of orchestrating the protest or manhandling the referee could be banned from the second leg in Bangkok on Sunday.
'The ASEAN Football Federation are studying the relevant reports from the match commissioner and referees inspector,' an AFF spokesman told Reuters.
'Based on the records action will be taken against anyone guilty of wrong-doing in the 1st leg.'
A capacity crowd at the National Stadium booed and jeered as the Thai team walked, preventing the penalty being taken.
Their tempers flared after Singaporean striker Noh Alam Shah went down in the area and the Malaysian referee pointed to the spot.
The players eventually returned after 15 minutes and Mustafic Fahrudin fired the penalty high into the roof of the net to put Singapore 2-1 ahead.
The walkout came amid growing bad blood between the two countries following last year's takeover by Singapore state investment arm Temasek of telecoms firm Shin Corp, founded by ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Temasek's $3.8 billion acquisition of Shin Corp added fuel to anti-Thaksin street protests that led to his removal in a bloodless military coup on Sept. 19.
A spat erupted two weeks ago when Bangkok summoned the Singaporean ambassador to protest a meeting between Thaksin and one of the city-state's senior cabinet ministers.
Bangkok police said tight security arrangements were being made to prevent angry scenes at Sunday's match, while big screens would be put up outside the stadium for fans without tickets.
'The number of policemen will be enough to control the crowd,' Metropolitan Police Spokesman Lt Col Pinit Maneerut told Reuters.
'As usual, we will send sniffer dogs, bomb squads as well as all plainclothes and riot police to the stadium.'

hai.... not to say winning world cup... progressing into 2nd round of qualifying round also have problem liao lol...
to even qualify for world cup.. it will need at least another 100 years or so lol...
Malaysia lost to Japan in the Olympic qualifying earlier this week and with that also go their chance of qualifying. Has Malaysia ever progress to the 2nd round of the world cup qualifying, as far as I remember, i think Malaysia had always being eliminated from the 1st round itself ? For Malaysia it is better to focus to become Asean champion first before thinking of World Cup.
I'll post foto when I get back to Nairobi! On my way to Ireland now for St Patricks Day! Woopy!!!!!!

Penyokong mahu tunjuk Protes
"Kami bukan bencikan skuad kebangsaan.

Okay here it goes people........let me tell you about malaysian non-football, why it is sooooooooo embarassing and ridicilous that even an under 20 team from the worst high school in any given country could probably beat em down to the tanah melayu. First of all the morons who are choosed to play for the malaysian national team are either related or somehow connected either to the coach, manager or the powers of sucky malaysian football. It's called CRONYISM. Second the coaches themselves probably got the job either because he's related to someone in the goverment or just best friends with someone from way back in the days they were playing marbles and chasing chickens in the kampung. Nobody is chosed for their ability to kick the ball a.k.a kaki bangku which usually involves skill, stamina, endurance, preseverance, strength, dedication, discipline, brain power and heart. And if you notice there are more bumiputras (lazy) guys playing than non-bumiputras in our so called pluralistic society. As long as the people who are in charge of malaysian sports are the very fellows who use the bumiputra slogan to have advantage over others, Malaysia will never make it on the world stage of sports, NEVER!!!
Now the solution is Malaysia must spend the money and invest in a world class coach like Brazillian Luis Scolari or dutch's Frank Rijkaard or just anyone at the same level as they are and let the coach do the choosing by scouting the whole entire country for the best of the best (I'm sure we can find 2 dozen guys out of millions) to be trained in a world class regimen and environment. if that happens than Malaysia will at the least be in the top 3 teams in Asia if not just qualify for the world cup. The most important thing is whoever does the choosing of the players must be objective and only pick those who can play and not for the color of their skin or creed or religious beliefs.
Now let see if anyone will accept the truth.

'' Black Parade United '' terus lancar protes
Oleh WAN FAKHRUL WAN BAKAR
fakhrul@kosmo.com.my

PSV Eindhoven offer Asraruddin stint at club
PETALING JAYA: National Under-19 footballer Mohd Asraruddin Putra Omar, who played in the Champions Youth Cup, has caught the eye of Dutch club side PSV Eindhoven.
PSV, who have one of the best youth development programmes in the world, were impressed with the performance of Malaysian defender Mohd Asraruddin and have offered him the opportunity to attend a two-week stint at the club with the possibility of joining the club’s youth programme.
“We saw player No. 3 (Asraruddin) play against us and the match before and we came away impressed,” said PSV coach Peter Dekkers.
“We would like to take him to PSV for a few weeks and see more of him in action,” added the coach.
Asraruddin: The leftback’s (right) performance in the CYC has caught the attention of PSV Eindhoven talent scouts.
“We have spoken to Jonathan Price (Chairman of the Gifted Group London) to assist us in getting the player to PSV as soon as possible,” he said.
Price said that he is delighted that a leading club like PSV are prepared to give this opportunity to a young Malaysian player.
“I hope that this will be the first of many opportunities that will arise for Malaysians to play at the top level.
“We will work closely with the relevant parties here including the Youth and Sports Ministry and the FA of Malaysia (FAM) to expedite the player’s trip to the club and we would be delighted to cover the cost of the trip,” said Price.
Asraruddin, a leftback in the Under-19 squad in the CYC, is the team’s vice-skipper and took over the captain’s armband from the injured Bunyamin Omar in the match against PSV. In the absence of Bunyamin for the PSV game, Asraruddin moved into the centre back position and handled himself superbly.
In fact, the Kedah-born player is capable of playing in either the leftback or centreback positions.
A former student at the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS), Asraruddin played a crucial role in helping Malaysia qualify for the AFC Under-20 Championship for the first time in over 20 years.
Apart from impressing Dekkers, Asraruddin also caught the attention of PSV’s International Scout, Piet de Visser.
“He is a good captain and has a good left foot.
“He is very strong, fast and has good passing skills. Many defenders just defend well but are unable to create moves, this boy can do both very well,” said de Visser, who travels throughout the world in search of bright young talents.
“We look forward to having him at PSV,” said Visser.

MALAYSIA routed Lesotho 4-0 at Petaling Jaya last night to enter the Merdeka Tournament semi-finals to set up an exciting clash against Singapore tomorrow.
The Malaysians made up for the numerous misses in the first half with a remarkable attacking spell in the second half.
Malaysia coach B. Sathinathan fielded goalkeeper Syed Adney Syed Hussain, who has just returned from a three-week stint in Middlesbrough and Darlington FC, instead of Nasril Nourdin.
Malaysia opened account in the 46th minute when skipper Shukor Adan headed the ball home from a corner kick taken by Nor Shahrul Idlahan.
The 4,000 Malaysian fans were roaring again when Kyril Muhymeen scored Malaysia's second goal in the 48th minute through a header.
In the 50th minute, Aidil Zafuan scored Malaysia’s third goal after a solo run,
Norshahrul Idlan Talaha notched Malaysia’s fourth goal in the 59th minute with a long range grounder.
In the other Group A match, Myanmar defeated minnows Laos 1-0. Myanmar will meet Zimbabwe in the semi-finals.

MALAYSIA will meet Myanmar in the final of the Merdeka Tournament at the Shah Alam Stadium tomorrow.
Last night, Malaysia, cheered by 10,000 fans, defeated arch rivals Singapore 3-1 in the semi-finals at Petaling Jaya Stadium.
Though the first half was played in heavy rain, Malaysia started attacking from the start of the game.
Malaysia took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when Khyril Muhymeen found the net from 30 metres off a freekick
In the 17th minute, it was Safee Sali’s turn to score when he made a solo run from the half line, took on two defenders and slipped the ball past Singapore keeper Hassan Sunny.
Singapore had a chance to close the gap in the 19th minute but skipper Baihakki Khaizan saw his header cleared on the line by Malaysia’s Zamani Misbah.
In the second half it was Singapore who came out aggressively and they were rewarded in the 48th minute when Agu Casmir headed the ball past Malaysian Syed Adney Syed Hussin off a corner kick.
Malaysia punished the sloppy Singapore defence in the 76th minute when Amirul Hadi pounced on a loose ball and played it to Safee Sali who had the simple task of tapping the ball in.
Defending champions Myanmar defeated Zimbabwe 3-1 in the other semi-final at Petaling Jaya Stadium last night.

Football / Merdeka Tournament Final: MERDEKA HIGH

Malaysian players celebrate after beating Myanmar3-1 in the final of the Merdeka Tournament at the Shah Alam Stadium last night. — Pic: HASAN ISMAIL
MALAYSIAN football delivered at the most significant moment — by winning the Merdeka Tournament as the nation celebrates the 50th anniversary of its independence.
The 3-1 conquest of defending champions Myanmar gave the 40,000 fans at Shah Alam Stadium last night and thousands across the country, much to rejoice.
Malaysia proved that they were more than the equal of Myanmar, that the 2-1 loss to them in a group match earlier was because they were down to 10 men by the first minute after Safee Sali was sent off.
Last night, Malaysia, powered mostly by Under-23 players and with Safee in inspirational form, took their time settling down but once they did, they took the fight to Myanmar. The Malaysian game had a touch of aggression in it and it served them well as Myanmar were equally robust.
The occasion was for Malaysia to triumph and the players gave the supporters a dream start by taking the lead in the 12th minute. Safee created the goal, as his precise pass found Zaquan Adha who ran unchallenged to slot the ball into the left corner.
As coach B. Sathianathan did a celebratory jig, the fans went wild and Malaysia were on a high.
But Myanmar had their moments too and Yan Paing came close to punishing the Malaysians but keeper Syed Adney was at the right place to keep his team ahead.
Malaysia survived another scare in the 35th minute when Syed Adney failed to field the ball cleanly, following a cross and a Myanmar player pushed the ball through but he was adjudged to have fouled the Malaysian keeper.
The second half saw Malaysia continue their aggressive approach and it paid dividends in the 56th minute when a surging run by Safee on the left saw him cut the ball across to Zaquan but it was Myanmar defender Moe Win who pushed the ball into his own net.
And Safee crowned a great night for himself with Malaysia’s third in the 60th as Amirul Hadi turned provider, with a pass from just inside the Myanmar box and Safee raced forward, controlled the ball and slotted home.
Myanmar fought back, in more ways than necessary, scored a consolation in the 73rd through Tun Tun Win and had Kyaw Khing Win sent off late in the match but the night belonged to Malaysia.
The fans sang and would have undoubtedly left the Shah Alam Stadium hoping that this is indeed the start of better things to come from Malaysian football.
After the match, FAM president Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah announced that B. Sathianathan will be appointed as the new national team coach.
"I would like to make an official announcement that I have handpicked B. Sathianathan to be the head coach of the Malaysian national team." he said.
The FAM secretariat will discuss the contract and other related matters in the next few days.

YAYY!! we won!!
but i have to agree myanmar is really gd at controlling the ball.. they just lack of gd finishing besides for their violent and shabbiness..

2007/10/18
BANGKOK: Malaysia face an uphill task to reach the semi-finals of men's football in the 24th Sea Games after they were drawn together with 2005 silver medallists Vietnam and Asean Cup champion Singapore in Group B. Laos complete the group.
In yesterday's draw, champions Thailand are in Group A with Indonesia, Myanmar and Cambodia.

In the men's regu, Malaysia are in Group A with Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia, while Group B comprises Thailand, Laos, Brunei, Myanmar and the Philippines.

Football / 2010 World Cup qualifier: Sathianathan confident of coming good at home
By : Christopher Raj
2007/10/19
National coach B. Sathianathan (second right) seems to show his funny side to FAM deputy president Khairy Jamaluddin (third right), FAM general secretary Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad (right) and some members of the national squad at Wisma FAM yesterday.
HE wants a win but national coach B. Sathianathan will accept losing to Bahrain in the pre-World Cup first leg on Sunday, provided the margin of defeat is narrow.
Sathianathan, who will be in charge of his first senior team match since being appointed after the Merdeka Tournament triumph, reckons Malaysia have it in them to do the damage in next week’s return leg.
“A win will be great, a draw good but even if we lose 1-0, it will be okay as we can return to Kuala Lumpur with our target of a place in the next round still in sight,” said Sathianathan yesterday.
“We need to be realistic about Bahrain as they are ranked sixth in Asia and they have just included three foreigners into the team.”
Sathianathan was speaking at a press conference chaired by FA of Malaysia deputy president Khairy Jamaluddin to announce the squad for the qualifier. FAM general secretary Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad was also present. .
“I was told the players are highly motivated and in good condition, and we hope they will do us proud in Manama,” said Khairy.
Norhafiz Zamani Misbah, who will skipper the side, K. Nanthakumar and Indra Putra Mahayuddin are the three senior players in the mostly Under-23 squad.
Norhafiz said the physical attributes of Bahrain was not something to be worried about as the Malaysian players have their own strengths.
“We know it is a tough match but if we play to our strengths, we can do it.” said Zamani, who scored the equaliser in the 2-2 2004 Asian Cup qualifier draw against Bahrain.

National U-23 players not allowed to play for their teams in MSL
By ERIC SAMUEL
PETALING JAYA: The national Under-23 players preparing for the Korat SEA Games in December will not be released to their respective teams for matches in the Malaysia Super League (MSL), which kicks off next month.
This stern stand will be endorsed at the FA of Malaysia’s (FAM) exco meeting at the Wisma FAM in Kelana Jaya here today.
The FAM secretary general, Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad, said the never-ending tussle between the parent body and their affiliates over players called up for national duties had to be stopped once and for all.
“We have for far too long accommodated requests of our affiliates and we can no longer compromise on this matter. At the end of the day, national interest must come first,” said Azzuddin yesterday after the deputy president, Khairy Jamaluddin, announced the selection of the 22 players for the pre-World Cup tie against Bahrain.
The first-leg match will be played in Manama on Sunday and the return match is scheduled for Oct 28 at the Shah Alam Stadium.
Khairy, who is also the deputy chairman of the national team committee headed by FAM president Sultan Ahmad Shah, gave an assurance to the affiliates that the competitions committee were in the midst of trying to synchronise the national football calendar so that they would be no conflict of interest.
“There needs to be proper co-ordination before we streamline our events to avoid any misunderstanding,” he said.
The new MSL season kicks off on Nov 17.
Meanwhile, four players from the national training squad were left out of the 22-member team for the trip to Manama. They are Saramsak Kram (Ked), Norfarhan Mohd (Ter), S. Subramaniam (Prk) and Zambri Chin (KM Naza).

Football: MyTeam 2 ready for Indonesia
By : Christopher Raj
2007/10/21
Ravi Letchumanan (left) Mohd Arif Ismail of MyTeam 2 are put through their paces in a training session at the National Stadium.
THEIR "brothers" captured the imagination of the nation last year and tonight, it is MyTeam 2's chance to do the same against Indonesia at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil (kick-off 8.30pm).
Indonesia arrived on Friday with an impressive looking squad and MyTeam 2 can expect a torrid time in a stadium which will surely have massive support for their opponents as well.
MyTeam 2 assistant coach Boyan Hodak, however, remains confident that his current players are better than last year's squad and Indonesia won't have it as easy, as many think they will.
"This year's players have better technique and ability and are physically stronger, so I am sure they will be up to the challenge," said Hodak.
Among the Indonesian players that MyTeam 2 have to be wary about are strikers Syamsir Alam and Riski Novriansyah of Pelita Jaya FC.
Both strikers spent several months training with English Premier League side Aston Villa last year and are an integral part of the Indonesian Under-20 team for the Asian qualifiers.
But MyTeam 2, said skipper R. Thurai Raju, have been waiting eagerly for the match.
"After all the training and preparation, we are ready. We believe we can win," said Thurai.

Football / World Cup qualifier: Sathia stays confident
By : Christopher Raj
2007/10/21
Malaysia striker Mohamad Zaquan Adha Abd Razak
IT will be a clash between two teams brimming with youthful talent but the similarity ends there as Bahrain will be the overwhelming favourites in their pre-World Cup first leg clash with Malaysia in Manama today.
While the young Malaysians did well to win the Merdeka Tournament in August, the pre-World Cup is a different level of competition altogether and national coach B. Sathianathan's message to his players is to keep the tie alive until next week's second leg in Kuala Lumpur.
Sathianathan believes his men, all Under-23 players with the exclusion of just four seniors, can do it but Bahrain's edge is their experience.
In the Bahrain team are 10 players from the Under-23 squad that beat Uzbekistan 2-0 in the Olympic qualifier last week.
The 10 Olympic players are established names and in midfielder Abdulla Omar and striker Jaycee John, Bahrain have two aces who scored against Uzbekistan.
The other Olympic squad players that Bahrain's Czech coach Milan Macala called up are goalkeeper and captain Sayed Mohammed Jaffer; defenders Faouzi Aaish, Jamal Rashid, Jassim Al Malood and Ahmed Bobsheit; midfielders Abdulla Fatai and Hamad Faisal and striker Ismail Abdullatif, who plays for Kuwait's premier division club Al Arabi.
For more firepower, Macala has also called up defenders Abdulla Al Marzooqi and Mohammed Hussain, midfielder Mahmood Jalal and striker Ala'a Hubail, all of who are playing professionally in Kuwait.
"The fact that their overseas-based players have been called up shows how serious they are.
" Their experience is something to be wary about but I remain confident that we can get a result here and finish the job at home," said Sathianathan when contacted in Manama yesterday.

SEA Games: M'sians protest, football fixture fixed
By S. RAMAGURU
KUALA LUMPUR: The organisers of the Korat SEA Games have made some changes to the football schedule after a protest by the Malaysians.
Initially the Malaysians were drawn to play all their group matches under the searing rays of an afternoon sun at 1.00pm.
This prompted a protest from national coach B. Satianathan, who said that this would greatly affect their chances in the tournament.
Under the new schedule the Malaysians will play their first and third game at 3.30pm while the second match will remain at 1.00pm.
The changes were conveyed to the Olympic Council of Malaysian (OCM) by SEA Games technical committee secretary Dr Vijit Kanungsukkasem on Monday.
Dr Vijit also said that due to the changes, Vietnam would play all their matches at 3.30pm while Singapore will have one match at 1.00pm.
The other teams in Group A are Vietnam, Laos and Singapore. Vietnam was the silver medallists at the last SEA Games in Manila, losing to Thailand in the final. Malaysia won the bronze, beating Myanmar in the third place playoff.
Malaysia open their campaign with a match against Vietnam on Dec 1 and take on Laos two days later. They complete their preliminary round fixtures against Singapore on Dec 8.

Rush in talks over Malaysia role
Rush also played up front for Juventus, Leeds and Newcastle
Ian Rush is in discussions with the Football Association of Malaysia about a possible role with the national team.
The former Wales and Liverpool striker is currently the elite performance director of the Welsh Football Trust.
Rush said: "I have been asked to have a look at their strikers, but it has got no further than that at the moment.
"If it did happen, it would have to fit in with my current job with the Welsh FA Trust, helping to bring their kids through," added the 46-year-old.
"I will be having another chat with them when I get back from Portugal, where I am at the moment on a break."
The Malaysian FA is currently restructuring it national team in the wake of a string of poor performances.
In last year's Asian Cup, which Malaysia co-hosted, they failed to win a match in the group stage and scored just one goal.
Malaysia were also eliminated in the first round of qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup in November.
As part of efforts to improve the team's fortunes, coach B Sathianathan will also spend three weeks with Manchester United observing Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant Carlos Queiroz.
Sathianathan, who replaced Norizan Bakar last August, said: "This a great chance for me to learn from the best.
"The national team will not be in training during that period and I can spend time learning and looking at ways to further improve it."

Can anybody help me obtain a programme from the Inter Continental cup going on now in Malaysia. Happy to swop a championsleague final programme from Moscow which was totally sold out early on the night and is rare now.
The Sultan of Pahang has been Malaysia's football head for more than 20 years. And I have seen nothing but failure upon failure in Malaysian football under his leadership. Not to mention the problems of corruption, bribery and match-fixing in Malaysian football under Sultan Ahmad Shah leadership.
The Sultan of Pahang should step down. His leadership is a failed leadership. And he has not been able to solve the problems. Malaysian football is in the gutter as far as international standards are concerned. We're ranked a lot lower than many countries whose names have never been heard by most Malaysians...like St Nevis and Kitts, St Vincent and the Grenadines, etc!! All under the Sultan's leadership.
I have nothing against the royal institution, I'm a staunch supporter of constitutional monarchy system of Malaysia, especially so being a Malay. But I think the Sultan should step down after more than 20 years of failed football leadership. I think it's not suitable for a Sultan or a titled royalty to head any sporting body because nobody will dare criticize, let alone condemn him, for failed policies.
I remember Datuk Dr Fazil Che Wan being publicly condemned, ridiculed and criticized in the media for his failed leadership in badminton, eventually forcing him to step down and being replaced. Malaysian badminton since then improved by leaps and bounds, including beating China and Indonesia. But it was easy to handle Fazil Che Wan because he is a commoner. But can you treat the Sultan of Pahang the way you treat Fazil Che Wan? Definitely cannot!! So, Malaysian football will continue to suffer under a failed leadership until somebody really speaks up..

Where Is Titus James?
We've forgotten about him haven't we? That toothy little Indian boy who left our shores almost a decade ago to chase a dream many of us guys dreamt of doing - playing football in Europe. We remember he was admitted into the prestigious Le Havre Football Academy at the age of 12 but that's it. Where is he now?
Titus and his under-15 team (can you spot the wee lad in the crowd?)
Pick up the latest July issue of New Man magazine for the skinny on what's happening to Titus James Palani written by yours truly!
He's 21 now and he's not a skinny little boy anymore. He's been living in France making a living for himself for almost 8 years. Sure the dream has taken a while to materialise (he now plays third division football which is part time and supplements his income with a day job) but the fact is he's surviving in France on his own and we've forgotten about only the second Malaysian football export to the world (the other was Lim Teong Kim who played for German third division outfit Hertha Berlin and now lives in Germany coaching Under-14 teams.
Titus after loosing the Under-18 finals with FC Villenoy.
Pick up the issue for more pics and more on what's the deal with Titus. I might catch up with him when he gets back for holidays so if any of you have any questions to ask him please leave it on the comments section. Just don't ask him to buy back stuff from France for you!

Wong Choon Wah & Chow Chee Keong (South China AA) in 70s
Wong Choon Wah
Widely acknowledged as one of the nation's most illustrious midfield schemers, this son of a coffee shop owner shared the pitch with Germans Uli Hoeness and Ottmar Hitzfeld in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and spent a season as a professional alongside Chow Chee Keong in Hong Kong.
Cheow Chee Keong
His nickname in Hong Kong was "Asian Stainless Steel Gate (Chinese:「亞洲鋼門」meaning number 1 keeper in Asia) and "Crazy Sword" (Chinese:「神經刀 ). He was a Malaysian Chinese. In 1963, he represented the Malaysian in under-20 level as a 13 years old. Two years later, he joined the Malaysia national football team as a 15 years old. At that point, he was the youngest ever Malaysian international player. From 1966 to 1970, he was voted by Asian Football Confederation as the best goalkeeper for 5 straight times. In 1968, he came to Hong Kong with a Malaysian Chinese selection side and many Hong Kong clubs took notice of him. Two years later, he joined Hong Kong Rangers FC for three guest matches. Then, he joined Jardines (Chinese name:怡和 ) for a salary of HKD 2500 per month which was the Hong Kong record at that time. However, a year later, Jardines withdrew from Hong Kong league. So he moved to South China AA where his career started to take off. For his three seasons with South China AA, he won many trophies and personal awards. In 1974, he moved to Tung Sing. His salary was HKD 7000 per month plus housing. In 1977, he returned to South China AA. A year later, he started to play in both Hong Kong league and the Malaysian league simultaneously. In 1979, he left Hong Kong, but returned in 1981. He spent a short time again with South China AA before moving to Hong Kong Rangers FC. In 1982, he finally returned to Malaysia and played for Malaysia national football team for three years then retired from football.
He became a golfer after retiring from football. In 1991, he finally earned a coaching license. He first started to teach in Malaysia. In 1995, he moved to a golf club in Shenzhen, China. In 1997, he returned to South China AA as a golfing instructor.

Le sigh .... the good ol days. The trueblue Malaysian sports team.
Nowadays, the soccer field left much to be desired. Every time I saw Malaysian team rolled out to the field, its like feeling that I should personally gunned 'em down with automatic rifle for their consistent piss poor performances.

Malaysian soccer is in the gutters, and continues to slide deeper in the gutters. Pretty soon, even tiny weeny Nauru or Barbuda & Antigua or Trinidad & Tobago will beat the craps out of us.
Ironically, we have perhaps the longest soccer tradition in Malaysia. Malaysia's Piala Malaysia (Malaysia Cup) started in 1921, then Piala Burnley, making it the oldest soccer tournament in SE Asia, even our mothers and fathers weren't born yet. The international Piala Merdeka (Merdeka Cup) started in 1958 when most of us weren't born yet, making it one of the longest international tournaments in Asia.
But our soccer is really in bad shape ever since Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang took over from Datuk Hamzah Abu Samah. I have nothing against Malay Royalty, being a Malay and a royalist, I support the Institution. But Sultan Ahmad is a failed leadership, 24 years of his leadership have sent Malaysian soccer into the abyss, perhaps not just the gutters.
He should resign but he won't, but since he's the Sultan, who's got the guts to ask him? The late Datuk Basri Akil of Kedah once boldly asked His Royal Highness to resign, instead of resigning, the FAM put Basri in deep freeze till his death recently. The pressure to resign was too strong that the son of the Sultan, Tengku Abdullah did resign, but his father refused, insisting that resigning after all these 24 years would be an act of cowardice, so he won't shirk, that is! Here we go again! Chasing that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!
Now, it is reported that Tengku Abdullah is proposed to lead Malaysian hockey, another once great Malaysian sport now also in the abyss. Ironically, hockey too took a slide after another royalty took over; the Sultan of Perak who now is replaced by his son the Raja Muda as the Malaysian Hockey President. I can't imagine what hockey, already in bad shape, would be if Tengku Abdullah takes over after co-helming a failed a soccer with his father!!!
Oh God, please save and glorify Malaysian soccer again! And hockey too!!!

Russ Green Talks About Sarawak FC
Hartlepool United Chief Executive Russ Green has talked about the link with Malaysian side FC Sarawak.
Green told the official site that the link is good for both sides ''The benefits are there for all to see with the exchange of players being an area to explore on both sides.''
''We'll be looking for talent within the Malaysian Premier League, with the possibility of bringing over players to Hartlepool.''
''It is also in our thinking that we will look to play pre-season tournaments over there and possibly have FC Sarawak coming over to Hartlepool to play friendly games.''
