you showed me a big box coated
with rainbow- colored icing
your eyes glistened so i thought
i'd have it
but you laid the box on the table
me, seeing but never really having it
made my mouth water
but left my stomach empty and growling
maybe you really are just a tease to my eyes
always there but never really mine
