Personaly...., although I'm Muslim I won't named my future child.....
There's too much people using Muslim Names from Marocco to Malaysia and Indonesia. So I'll stick to native Indonesian names, especially ancient Hindu-Buddhist or Sankskrit origin. Oh wait..., maybe mixed and match 'em with Japanese and French names.... This post has been edited by Majapahitans: Jan 19 2006, 12:06 PM |

QUOTE (RuthinJpn @ Jan 16 2006, 03:18 PM) gusdur comes from gus abdurahman. i think gus is the abbreviation of 'gusti'. i'm not sure about 'gus', but for what i know it's a kind of title for a nobleman, like 'Lord' in English. are you sure that Gus comes from Gusti ? i don't think it's correct..... all i know about this, Gus is a nick for Javanese's Kiai's sons.....but i dont know where this word comes from.....and i don't read about Gus from old java-islam history......So my guess, Gus is only used among the nadhiyyin ( Nahdhatul Ulama)... |

QUOTE (peculiar-alien @ Jan 22 2006, 03:48 AM) batak is divided into some branches...there are batak toba, batak simalungun, batak mandailing and batak karo. In Karonese point of view, they don’t want to be called as Batak ethnic. They said Karo is Karo, Batak is Batak. So they prefer to be called Suku Karo or Karo etnic. Same as Suku Gayo from Aceh. As a matter of fact, Karo language is almost similar with Gayo than Batak language. My father said that Karo ancestor was from suku Gayo. So, you're surname is Ginting, aight? Mine is Purba |
