Read your posts. Disrespectful, asinine trolling is annoying and people are going to respond to that. Mods should give you a warning for being such a lame Chinazi wannabe.

All we know so far coming from you is that Hyundai cars are "$hit" and "suck". Why, thanks for the wonderfully informative and detailed opinion! You're a high-class act!

also, the $hity cars (Hyundai ) would still be $hitty no matter where it is made, nothing against korean. No one is comparing to vietnam. simple fact: Someone made a topic about a car, from experience about the car (which happens to be made in korea) I gave out my opinion that it was a gay, and out of no where some koreans came out and talked $hit. go back and read the previous posts.

You must be dense.

You gave a lame opinion, onepairofpant tried discussing it- a very reasonable post too, I might add- and you came back with more lameness, not even once giving any substance to your position. So right. You're not a lame troll. embarassedlaugh.gif2

so did you read all the "reasonable" responds from others as well, including yourself?

seriously what is the problem, if it's $hitty I'll call it $hitty. You can call viet movies $hitty all you want I don't care, because it is $hitty. Now the Hyundai cars are $hitty, so I call them $hitty. You can call everything opinion if you want. Should not be so quick to defend just because you think someone is flaming your country. Now, if I had said "koreans are lazy so they make crappy and $hitty car" it would be different, but I didn't.

To Vietpunk:

You came into this board with an attitude. Onepairofpants disagreed with you and you wanted to turn this into a fight, telling him to STFU. I don't know whether anything happened between you, but this thread is about Hyundai, not Vietpunk vs. Onepairofpants. You're the one coming off as defensive here. "Just look at your damn posts and how many of them deals anything with your damn precious korea." So you're angry that onepairofpants posts about Korea. This is the Korean Chat. If he wants to post about Korea, he can post as much as he wants. You don't have to read his posts if they bother you so much.

I don't need to feel offended by some stupid viet who about cars made by a korean company, cuz viets cant even make cars, unless you count river boats. So  go back to your jungles now.

It's called frequency. The most frequent offenders have earned their special term, Chinazi. So what do you expect?

No. Giving (absolute) negative opinion is fine as long as you state reasons and don't reply to someone asking for those reasons with 'shut the fu-k up.' That shouldn't be difficult to understand now. Really!

I admit I don't know much about cars. I don't know how Hyundai ranks in quality. But from what I've heard Hyundai like other Korean companies, have improved vastily on the quality of their products. There is no need for Korean companies to continue on producing inferior products anymore.

QUOTE
MONTGOMERY, Alabama _ Will Hyundai Motor be able to keep expanding its share of the North American market?

The question has boggled Chairman Chung Mong-koo’s mind since the firm broke ground in April 2002 for a 1,744-acre manufacturing plant in the southeastern city, formerly the heart of the American cotton industry.

Hyundai has put top priority on improving quality and brand image under Chung’s strong leadership.

South Korea’s No.1 automaker is recognized as a maker of one of the finest vehicles in the world with the most advanced technologies. And the plant in Montgomery demonstrates Hyundai’s achievements. Hyundai Motor believes that cars made in the United States will provide leverage for the company to more effectively compete with its bigger U.S. and Japanese rivals.

``Our decision to build this facility in Montgomery underscores our commitment to the U.S. market,’’ Chung said in a speech during the opening ceremony on Friday.

``Our new plant will allow us to build more vehicles for this growing market and get them to our customers faster while continuing to produce high-quality, high-value and stylish products.’’

The assembly plant, for which Hyundai spent $1.1 billion, is one of the largest investment projects to be made by a Korean company overseas.

Since 2001, the company invested more than $200 million in design and testing facilities throughout the U.S. Along with a $30 million design center in Irvine, Calif., $60 million in test courses in California City, Calif., and a $117 million technical center in Ann Arbor, Mich., the factory will enable Hyundai to provide complete services to American consumers from production to sales.

``Quality is a top priority for Hyundai. I can assure you that the principle will never change,’’ the 67-year-old chairman said. ``It is a matter of pride we take in our company. This plant, having state-of-the-art platforms and the world’s finest workforce, will become the new benchmark for technology and productivity in the industry.’’

A new version of the popular Sonata sedan, with which Hyundai will compete head-on with Toyota Motor’s Camry and Honda Motor’s Accord, has been on the market since April. The next generation Santa Fe sport utility vehicle will be added to the lineup next spring, timed with aggressive marketing and sales promotions throughout the U.S. market.

The factory, which can produce 300,000 cars annually at full capacity and four different cars on the same platform, is divided into five areas.

The Stamping Shop includes two 5,400-ton stamping presses, which create steel bodies that will used to cover each side of the car. All material flow from the facility to the next area is completely automated.

After the material arrives at the Welding Shop, over 250 robots move, weld and seal them, converting stamped steel into vehicles. Automation prevents possible damage to the steel and helps ensure quality and consistency.

In the Paint Shop, each vehicle body is thoroughly cleaned and a zinc-phosphate coating is applied. This coating method allows the water-based color to adhere to the car body. The body is submerged in a bath to provide corrosion resistance, then is rotated 360 degrees to eliminate any air bubbles in body cavities. The vehicle is primed and then painted with a topcoat, which is the final color of the vehicle.

``One hundred percent of the actual paint application is automated and all paint is water-based, which is safer for the environment than conventional painting methods,’’ said Yun Ho-won, a technical director at the Montgomery plant.

After the painting process, technicians add their touch to each vehicle for installation of various parts in the General Assembly area. They work under more than 7,000-feet-tall conveyors that have been adjusted to their height.

After vehicles pass through all of the above, they must undergo a number of tests in the Final Evaluation area. The area includes a roll test, a high-pressure water test booth and a 2.3-mile test track with a variety of road surfaces to ensure that every vehicle is built and performs to meet Hyundai’s high quality standards, according to Yun.

``This plant can produce up to 73 vehicles in one hour,’’ Yun said. ``Until this year, we have hired some 1,800 workers. When assembly and production lines go into full operation next year, we will need at least 2,600 workers to handle all of this work.’’

With the Montgomery plant, Hyundai seeks to increase sales in the U.S. to some 500,000 units this year, capturing about 3 percent of the market. Adding Kia Motors, a Hyundai Motor affiliate that has made strong growth in the small car segment, the group’s share may grow to over 4.5 percent.
