Ok, I saw "Save the Green Planet". It's a horror movie, like "Old Boy", though the beginning and end were very funny. There's a lot of gore in the middle, I had to fast forward some bits!

It's tough to watch but quite original.

^ Oh, you hate gore. Noted. Sadly, many of the well-received Korean movies contain lots of gore lol

They performed Mr. Taxi, too. This is the full video.

SNSD "The Great Escape + Mr. Taxi" on Music Station

On that stage, I read Sooyoung had a fever and Taeyeon and Jessica were really fatigued from their tight schedule. They did well though. They just finished their 3rd concert of 2011 Japan Tour in Saitama. J-Sones are love. beerchug.gif

The Pink Ocean in Saitama

Sooyoung looks more confident. and yeah, i can see their exhaustion on their faces.
Did you hear that Sunny fainted during the Saitama concert due to overwork?
I'm curious if this kind of overwork is general in other countries too. how about American singers?
I hope SM ent wisely consider their singer's condition.

And this is not mirrored version

Btw their this song is good too.

Yeah, I noticed! It's like a horror genre, eg. Japanese horror genre. I just have a queasy stomach, but I enjoyed the not-gory parts. Did you spot the Blade Runner tribute in there with the cartwheels?

I saw Marrying the Mafia too - it was a funny fantasy-romance.

If you guys are interested in a Pulp Fiction type absurd HK gangster movie, my favorite is Too Many Ways to be No. 1. It is hilariously pathetic, smashes a lot of stereotypes and I suspect shows a truer picture of the mobster's less-than-glamorous life. The first half is better than the second, imo. I think this ranks as one of my favorite movies ever.

I wonder why we don't have a Chinese movies thread on C Chat? We've got to take a break from the politics some time.

Create one at C Chat. I think that's a great way to take a break from the politics.

Sunny didn't faint but she went to the hospital to get an IV drip during the concert. She came back before the end of the concert. One question that struck my mind is, what if Taeyeon was sick? She sings a lot of hard parts as the lead singer. I can't imagine SNSD performance without her. I hope they can take a bit of break for a few days until the SM concert in Paris.

Oh, i got wrong information.
And about Taeyeon, that kind of thing should not happen lol

Anyway, it seems that SNSD's concerts in Osaka and Saitama was pretty successful.
I heard that many Japanese fans gave a favorable comments to the concerts.
It's good to see their efforts is rewarded with fans love.

Btw i found some interesting data.
If this stats is correct, size of Korean music market is bigger than i thought, even if I don't know whether income share is fair or not..

Digital music revenues ranking

Recorded music sales ranking

MUSIC CONSUMPTION PER CAPITA BASED ON TRADE VALUE

USA $4.17 bil / 311 mil pop = $13.4 per person
Japan $3.96 bil / 128 mil pop = $30.9 per person--why Kpop wants to break into Japan?

UK $1.38 bil / 62 mil pop = $22.3 per person
France $866 / 66 mil pop = $13.12 per person
Canada $394 / 34.4 mil pop = $11.45 per person
Australia $392 / 22.6 mil pop = $17.35 per person

I heard the audio facility in Saitama Super Arena is superb. You just won't feel it unless you are there. Btw, SNSD's first album hit 232k on the Oricon chart during the first week, thanks to J-Sones' support.

It's true Korean digital music market is fairly big but the consensus is that the distributors take too much profit so very little is left for the artists and their labels. Btw, I knew Japan has a huge music market but it's really damn huge lol

After watching several more Korean films, I think my favorite Korean director has to be Bong Joon Ho. His films - The Host, Memories of Murder, Mother, etc. - are very subtle but emotionally-gripping thrillers in their own right, but I am amazed at how much of Korean societal issues and their meaning he managed to weave into every tale. The actors and actresses he chose are all great character talents, not superfluous, popular or eye-candy picks. Most of all, the subject he chose are all really unique, with a lot more depth than the usual. Of the 3, I think my fave are Mother and Memories of Murder, not just because they are terrifying Hitchcock-like stories, but because he paints such a vivid picture of small-town society with all the different characters with their neurosis and psychosis.

I can't wait to see his next major film!

Yeah, Bong Joon Ho is a revered name in the Korean movie industry. It seems everyone loves Memories of Murder regardless of their usual taste. "Vivid" is the right word. The tension is so absorbent. I loved the scene where the detective was asking the suspect if he had a meal at the end. So futile. Have you watched The Chaser? There's some gore but it's worth the trouble to feel the desperateness.

I'm trying to absorb some Korean culture here in Sweden, but its hard to get some news or any type of updates of new stuff here.
Also... Pop music is not my thing in general. But there is of course some really good produced Korean music that I found.
I like Seo Taiji 7th issue. He's a really good composer. Loveholic is cute.

Can you guys recommend something similar?

What about electric/club music?

TIA
