Hello, I'm in Australia and I am wondering if you can repost that learn Hmong language package.
My parents want me to just continue learning english though, they say the language is dead and won't tell me that much about their culture... They tell me they left everything behind in 1975, they did not take anything with them, all their clothes they left behind... I've let it pass for a while and here in Australia I feel I have left it too long, I've grown up all my life in Frenchs Forest and it is not a suburb with many asians, and it makes you feel like a foreigner even though I was born here. My parents just told me to learn chinese instead to broaden my future prospects... Well, I'm 17 now and I've decided to have a look at the culture secretly. I'm almost approaching the stage where I will go to university after I finish high school next year, I plan to do Aeronautical (Space) Engineering. I'll need to get around the top 500-800 people for my year statewide, I go to a selective school, and I achieve really well so I don't think it will be a problem getting in, otherwise I'll seek another career maybe in medicine instead and become a surgeon. Anyway, any chances that you could upload the learn to read and write in Hmong files again? It will probably be tough... |

I don't have winrar on the computer and I can't install it either because my comp is messed up. But if you can't, that's alright. |

Oh...well, let me show you a trick...double click the downloaded file...don't double click to the point where it opens up the file but double click to the point where it highlights the name of the file which enables you to change the name...once you do that...just delete "rar" and insert "zip" in there...so instead of having--> Learn_Hmong.rar you would have --> Learn_Hmong.zip...that should do the trick...and it works |

I tried double-clicking everyway and I couldn't change the name to .zip at all. Could you explain in more detail please? Do you double-click on this link to change .rar to .zip?: http://rapidshare.com/files/9226858/Learn_Hmong.rar.html |

just changing the file extension from rar to zip will not do the trick. it will change the program that handles the file but winzip or whatever .zip program u have is unable to handle .rar files. i'll try to DL, convert, and upload if somebody doesn't beat me to it.

Hey mory, for your word phrase #12 it's actually a laotian word. hahahah
No wonder when I first listened to it I was like "what the hell is that?" So I asked my father what the word meant in english, and he told me it was laotian, not hmong. Besides, that word didn't even sound hmong. |

REVISED DOCUMENT: http://rapidshare.com/files/10377946/Hmong...lation.doc.html All your other words are fine, that phrase was the only laotian word you had. I should know, I'm really familiar with most of the laotian words that we hmong use. Also, I won't be emailing you those 'practice sentences worksheets' because I honestly still do not know how to read or write in hmong. I've learned the consonants, vowels, and tone markers, thanks to you. But.... when writing them out as words, it's too hard for me. Although I can translate hmong into english when speaking! I just can't write it out or read it. I'm thinking of just taking a class instead. But many big thanks to you for doing all this work for us dummies!! |
