Most of outsider saw Taiwan as IT country. But the true face of Taiwan is a rural country, since most of their people living in the urban village. Don't be fooled by people claim Taiwan has high urbanization, because many rural areas are developed well almost like small city. They may wear modern cloth and living in modern house, but in mentality, a rural people still a rural people. I completely agree. I went to Taiwan in Summer 2009, and I noticed that all the investment went to Taipei. Anywhere out of Taipei had shoddy buildings and there were many rotting, derelict office buildings around the 'National Highway No. 1'. The Taiwan villages look like typical villages found in China.... Also I saw many 'gyaru' and 'harajuku' wananbes/try hards in Xinmending. What annoyed me the most was the amount of drivers (especially those driving mopeds) who disobey the traffic laws! Taiwan is a Japanophillic society. You are just jealous because Japan is more friendlier towards Taiwan while most of Japanese is hostile to mainlanders. |

LOL im not a mainlander you fool. your mentality is that gaining Japan's fake respect is noble and deserving praise. from the looks of it, you seem to be proud that Taiwan is Japan's #1 butt kisser. That is NOTHING to be proud of. jealous? why would i be jealous of which country Japan likes more? that's extremely lame that you're implying that 'Japan likes us more! yay" = very childish and laughable. /facepalm unlike you silly japanophiles, we do not look up to japan. only japanophiles, wapanese (weeaboo) and taiwanese look up to japan. love all things japanese, listening to jrock, watching anime and manga, speaking 'japanese' that they picked up from watching a few episodes of naruto = fail and losers. i mean have you seen those taiwanese poseurs (who call themselves 'ulzzang' and totally bastardized the meaning) trying really hard to appear japanese? obviously i struck a chord with my previous post because it was the truth. No offense to any Taiwanese, but Taiwan's buildings and infrastructures in Taipei are really ugly and undeveloped. I decided to go last year and it looks nothing like what they portray in their dramas/movies. Honestly looks no better than mainland's best cities and thats not my Chineseness talking because the people I went with were somewhat disappointed as well.

Yes, the Japanese did a lot of good things for Taiwan. They built infrastructures, railroads, hospitals etc etc, but you'd be stupid if you really thought they were doing that for the good of the Taiwanese people. If Taiwan wasn't a Japanese colony back then they would have slaughtered us like they did the rest of Asia. I'm so sick of these damned Japanophiles. If you want to love a country than love Taiwan. |

Taiwanese do love Taiwan. I don't see what the big problem is if they like Japan. If you don't like what the majority of taiwanese like then big deal, move on and forget about it. You can't control peoples thoughts. BTW even after ww2 Japan is the #1 investor in Taiwan (and Mainland China mind you, and also the biggest foreign aid giver to mainland china until recent years since they dont need it anymore). Like and love are two different things. I like Japanese culture as well but saying that you "love" Japan is too over IMHO. I'm not trying to "control" people's thoughts and most Taiwanese I know don't love Japanese culture. We appreciate Japan and we find her culture interesting. I don't like it when others try to pass it off as if we're somehow infatuated with Japan because that's just not true. I personally find Japanophiles pathetic move on and deal with it. |

Taiwan-Japan is probably the only healthy bilateral relationship in East Asia (excluding SE Asia)
Thus I'd have no problem with Taiwan being counted as a member of SE Asia. It'd make much more sense this way. Once we look at things this way, it becomes clear that : China, Japan, Korea have "issues" with one another. ..which all of you know already. And you shouldn't have a problem with who Taiwanese like, unless you're just an immature teenager. I feel sorry for all Japanese who have to put up with all this. I guess you've got used to it by now. This post has been edited by badparticle: May 6 2010, 08:51 PM |

Like I said, I also appreciate Japanese culture. In my personal opinion howeverI find hardcore Japanophiles revolting. There's a fine line between appreciating/liking and just downright unhealthy infatuation. If you don't like what I have to say then deal with it. Don't know why you're apologizing to the Japanese either. Did any Taiwanese member here say something offensive to Japanese? Stop being so sensitive. |

if china wants to be taiwan's favorite country, stop pointing the missile and harassing and embarrassing taiwan political leaders on the world stage would be a good start.. and while we're at it... behave like a calm puppy.
for taiwan side, it's time to stop @$$-kissing.. i dun mind @$$-licking cuz every small country does it.. but @$$-kissing is a little too intense for my tiny brain. for japan side, it would be a good start to solve the territorial conflict once and for all.. and while they're at it, stop acting cutesy all the times cuz the modern political crap is not the same like in the anime. Stop being so sensitive. That response was to the thread and not you. And I wasn't apologizing to anybody. I was merely showing sympathy. Let's say Country A likes Taiwan a lot, and Country B keeps harassing A because of that. As a Taiwanese I'd take it as an insult to Taiwan rather to Country A. Why, Taiwan doesn't deserved to be liked by another country? Do you know what I'm saying? As for your personal resentment for japanophiles, it's more of your own personal problem than anything else isn't it. You might have a japanometre and you calibrate it according to your own standard. |
