We East Asians tend to have negative opinions and high levels of distrust amongst ourselves. That's what makes us so special. For Japan's case, they don't want the US to leave East Asia. They just want the US to leave Japan.

Foreign CEO signifies a more globalized Japan

First it was Mazda, then Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors. Now it's Sony.



Some of the biggest names in once notoriously insular corporate Japan have tapped foreigners as leaders, underlining a new flexibility shaped by globalization and years of economic malaise.

Japanese companies have increasingly been turning to foreigners for help in revamping their operations, with Sony picking a Welsh-American former CBS executive to be its new CEO this week. Nissan had been led by a Frenchman since 1999.

Foreign investment funds like Ripplewood Holdings LLC bought bankrupt Japanese banks, golf courses, electronics companies and auto parts makers. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. snapped up a struggling Japanese supermarket chain.

Mazda Motor Co. led the way in 1996 when it allowed Ford Motor Co. to take a 33.4 percent stake and install a Ford executive at the helm. The company is now on course to report record operating profits this fiscal year.

Nissan Motor Co.'s turnaround under the guidance of Carlos Ghosn and Renault SA is the most famous example.

Hiroshi Okuda, chairman of Toyota Motor Co., said it was no surprise that an outsider would be leading Sony.

"Frankly speaking, if you think about the future of Japan, this is natural," said Okuda, who also serves as head of Japan's most powerful business lobby, Nippon Keidanren. "This will be become normal and there will be less and less resistance to it."

Sony has a track record of establishing trends for corporate Japan: It began reporting earnings on a quarterly basis, instead of twice a year, long before its domestic rivals. It also brought in outside directors to its board to join the internally groomed executives who are the norm at many Japanese companies.

precision science for optics will continue to be japanese at least for a few decades, and cameras wise i will only get from japan (unless one day leica becomes affordable with autofocus DSLR).
laptops i will still consider acer as one of my primary choice (but i'm primarily a tablet user) though there continues to be a lot of choices

hyped or not hyped, i think that spells the ultimate truth when we get down to earth.
(and whoever who burns the korean flags, they know it themselves and they can continue to lie and accuse their enemies)

the distribution of wealth, the distribution of basic infrastructure at all corners of the country and the quality of life of the majority of a nation - speaks far more than the twisted figures and the repeating threads of quotes that speak no sense to me.

I'm more of a left wing guy on Japanese politics though, I'm not a nationalist. No. I'm not Taiwanese you dumbfu-ks. I personally really don't give two $hits about a little country with zero influence on the world stage. It's the same reason why I don't really care about Korean politics, even though I do find korean history fascinating. That, plus the fact that you people are always so amusing.

One Korean on this forum goes, "Wow, we're Amazing". The second guy goes "Why yes, We are!" The third guy goes "LOL YA We're the bestest. But what about the criticism that we're too good for our own good?" 4th guy goes "LOL don't worry <insert quote from Korean media>. KPOP will make everything better!" I mean... how can I -NOT- let that continue? It's entertainment at its best.

So what's my agenda/purpose on this forum? To have fun. Things like making fun of dumb people and discuss interesting topics (like global geopolitics, political economies, history etc). That's pretty much it. Cmon I love you guys. Don't ever change. Hate on China and Japan all you want. Please?

You must have forgotten something, this is Korean chat section, so it's perfectly fine to have threads about glorifying/beautifying Korea.
You didn't have problem when Chinese, Mongolian, Filipino, Vietnamese chats containing glossy threads about themselves but only problematic when it comes to Koreans.

You keep saying you're not nationalist but you have been defending Japan even China against from Korean.
And it's perfectly okay to tell us about your true ethnicity/nationality.
If you're not Taiwanese national then you could be mainland Chinese or Chinese American, who cares.

No, I am not highly educated. In fact, English is my second language. However, at least, I don't troll in other national Chat and I don't use four letter word starting with f, unlike you.

Except that Chinese, or anyone who looked Japanese were also mistakenly put into camps. Just because most slaves were from the Congo doesn't mean that Blacks from other parts of Africa aren't allowed to be pissed? Afterall, race is based on physical appearance and we are all Asians (some of us, the rest are just pretending). Whatever racism was suffered by Japanese, was also applied to other Asians.

If we see a Japanese person being beat up by a bunch of Whites, does that mean we shouldn't help just because we are from a different Asian ethnicity? This kind of selective "ethnic-based" loyalty is the downfall of Asians.
