didn't you know that hollywood actor Martin Sheen who's real name is Ramon Estevez has a filipino father and an irish mother and Martin Sheen and his son Charlie Sheen looks a little bit filipino.

My dad is Ilocano, my mom is Cebuana and Maranao. Recently my mom told me that her father was a Sultan from Maranao and he disinherited her because she married a Catholic (my dad). So I figured that's the reason why I never knew any relatives of my mom. I'm so dumb, how come I never thought about these kind of things earlier? Oops, sorry off topic. hehe

Oh I forgot, like dyosa, since I grew up till 7 years old in manila, then I'm tagalog.

Enrique Iglesias mother is not a pure Spaniard, shes mestiza and considers herself full Filipina, Spanish press calls her "La Reina de Manila" which in english means Queen of Manila, for her elegance and grace..also Enrique Iglesias consder her mother filipina and he is more close to the mother side of the family rather than his father side..no wonder why he is always offended when Filipino press dont really consider him filipino, many times he has to cancel his concert here..

Um no Enrique Iglesias is not half filipino, his mother is pure spaniard, who was born in the Philippines.

^His father isn’t Filipino. His father is a real Spaniard born in Spain who married an Irish woman. That’s why he always promotes tourism in Ireland on TV. I don’t know if his father lived in the P.I. but he’s doesn’t have any Malay/SE Asian ancestry.

The list of famous Filipinos also includes US olympic athlete Natalie Coughlin who is a naturally blonde white woman (one of her ancestors is Filipino) and Enrique Iglesias who told the Filipino media when he visited the P.I. that he was a proud half Filipino. If Martin Sheen/Ramon Estevez was part Filipino, he would be on that list.

Um no Enrique Iglesias is not half filipino, his mother is pure spaniard, who was born in the Philippines.

oh, is that so.... very odd.... he doesn't really look like a filipino at all so i think that's why medias were confused and uncertain of his filipino ancestry, we can't blame the press of being doubtful, he (enrique) better learn tagalog, maybe it counts as proof of being a part of filipino....

right now there is what you call tsinoys or chinese pinoys which is rapidly growing here in the philippines that is why many filipinos look chinese but there actually pinoy with chinese blood who were born in the philippines. that is why there are many pinoys right now with chinese surnames like tan, dy, sy, go, lim, etc... or chinese looking pinoys with spanish surnames. have you noticed that most of pinoy participants in the SEA games are tsinoys.

I am 3/4 and raised as a Tagalog & 1/4 Kapampangan. Purong Pilipino ito!

Wait. I'm not really sure if I am a pure Filipino. My father's side has some Chinese and Spanish blood in it, according to my second cousins. According to them, this was said to them by our grandmother, and according to her and her siblings, her mother is a Spanish with Chinese blood. And that's our greatgrandparents. And I wish this isn't true. I don't want Chinese blood running in my veins. Slightly, Spanish also, but not as worse as Chinese. But keep in mind, I'm not sure of this. But if not, still, Filipinos may have Chinese blood. According to Otley Beyer, the Father of Philippine Anthropology, Filipinos are:

40% Malay
30% Indones
10% Negrito
10% Chinese
5% Hindu
3% American and European
2% Arab

That's "according" to him.

But I consider myself as a pure Filipino because I am proud of being a Filipino.

1/8 or 1/16 spanish/chinese, just a very small percentage, not even sure, but still so irrevelant...

I'm a Filipino, a pure Filipino.
