I was kinda hoping Hanoi would be more traditional and not use western style buildings(leave that for Saigon), I wanted Hanoi to more nature like with more flowers rather than concrete and steel.

There are almost real buildings and Projects which are current under construction in Hanoi. In Hanoi there are more real estate Projects as in Saigon.

You guys (just some of you),
may be have no ideas about the situation there. Your words are just unfair. Hanoi and Saigon are still in one country. Without the one city, the other are just half as much.

That the vietnamese culture and architecture adopt many from the french, I think is no more unknown.

It seems on the projects-picture to be different but in real you will still find natural area.

beerchug.gif Vietnam is improving rapidly and is very modernizing/urbanizing quickly. Of course there are bad places, but the condition is improving day by day, much quicker than surrounding countries even compare it to Thailand.

Hanoi...does not deserve such architecture...this is not that I have anything againt it but think about it this way.

Saigon is still the commercial center of Vietnam despite the communists best effort to shift the boom to Hanoi. Hanoi is just the communists capital city so perhaps you should concentrate on building statues to the old fart ho, and improving govt buidling. Leave the skyscrapers to Saigon, it makes more sense. Maybe in Saigon, those buildings will actually be used.

Also, consider the tourist industry. Where do Vietnamese abroad visit --> Saigon, and not Hanoi, so all the tourist money flow into Saigon. Why not develop Saigon then and stop fighting economic reality.

I don't agree. Concerning tourism (only tourism), the North is far more attractive to foreingers. But in term of air traffic, Saigon is pretty loaded because most the Vietnameses living abroad have family living in the South and Saigon is the nation's business hub.
