Depends on proportion really and how each different feature fits..its just like how BIG boobs doesnt always look good on a extremely thin body.

No, it's not just about their eyes. Their faces are kinda too long, etc. The rest of their facial features just add to the "squintiness." embarassedlaugh.gif

And Fuji, ahem...talking about boobs yet again. sure.gif embarassedlaugh.gif

QUOTE (miss_yume @ Aug 18 2004, 05:35 PM)
I wouldn't go by those statistics alone. The thing is that Koreans differ in the way Westerners have surgery in that the people who get it done in Korea are YOUNG people and they have EYE SURGERY. People in the west get their boobs done or get facelifts when they get older. Koreans are different because they get eye surgery at a young age (parents giving them surgery as graduation gifts) which alters their whole appearance radically.

Changing your eyes change your whole look so much. The eyes are the windows of your soul as they say - and people who've had the surgery look like they have souls of bugs or weird freakish aliens. Westerners who get pumped up lips do not look that different and getting a boob job does not change the look of your face.

When you live in a Western country you do not notice that people have had plastic surgery that much relative to the stats - people in their forties may have had their skin tightened or wrinkles lasered but in Korea the people look fundamentally different - they are a new race of people - people who are staring all the time because they have had their eyes done and I'm talking about young people mostly (this plastic surgery craze is a young people's phenomenon).

The Miss Korea thread - people who enter in this comp are ordinary people, not celebrities. Judging from this lineup of contestants (ordinary people) - I would say 80% have had their eyes done. You never find this sort of thing in the West - yes they may have had their boobs done or their noses altered but they don't look much different to before - they still look Caucasian.

Asians who fix their eyes look very different to before.

I find plastic surgery on eyes (especially on young people who were goodlooking mostly before the surgery because they are young) to be a sad craze in Korea - it does reflect the 'pretensiousness and fakeness' (as someone called it) of the Korean culture.

The Korean men are still very goodlooking many of them, because they don't do the surgery as much as the women. But young goodlooking women in Korea who haven't had their eyes fixed are becoming much  harder to find.

Why do I have to watch Korean dramas? Korean dramas are as representative of Korean people as much as the people that are seen in sites like this, maybe even less so as they are all famous people and actors. There are plenty of pics of ordinary Koreans here (and similar sites all over the net) as well as celebrities. The thing that struck me is how so many girls have staring unnatural eyes - I haven't honestly seen this in other non-Asian sites.
*

Rather than double eye-lids my mom has "naturally" triple eye-lids.. so are you going to point to my mom and call her fake.. plastic woman? or "staring unnatural eyed woman"? Really mest up.. how alot of people make assumptions about koreans and plastic surgery. They've never been to korea nor met the people there. Or had any kind of experience. And think they know what they're talking about because they read some $hit off the internet (negative articles, rumors, gossip, and so on). Or they happen to see some really pretty girl with nice pair of eyes that don't look asian and quickly assume they're not real. They should just keep their lips sealed.. unless they know for a fact by meaning actually stepping into Korea and experiencing the life and people there. They'll definitely see the true light of korea and actually respect the people and culture.

I've actually met people with natural double eye-lids who are korean. So I'm sorta dissappointed in your comment.. and on my mom's side.. almost everyone has double eye-lids and they're natural. Though I have single eye-lids.. my dad has single-lids in his family side. But my aren't really that small because I take after both of my parents. Although I do agree some celebs have done surgery. But why do you worry about it so much? I mean it's not your life. Leave them alone.. it's their opinion if they want to do it or not.. as long as they're happy.. that's what matters. You get no where worrying about lil things like this. Get over it Please. sure.gif Start worrying about you're life not theirs. You'll come to realize everything you said is not important.

You can think of koreans anyway you want but that's only the racial ignorance in you.

I don't think the woman you're replying to will be coming back for a long while to respond to you. But anyhow, I agree, that non-Koreans jump at other people of different ethnicity too quickly. The double-eyelid is a famous case for Koreans; my mom's got double eyelids, and I have them too, my left eye has like wrinkles sometimes because I rubbed it occasionally. And I've seen a few that have them, although they are very small.

i dont get how some koreans get that surgery and still have small slanty eyes, while others that get it completely changed the way their eyes looked, like it just got really westernly big. For example, Namji:

questionaire: doesn't matter.. I just wanted to let it out at the point.
well same here.. I usually have wrinkles whenever I rub my eyes... you had surgery? or do you mean you take after your mom with double eye-lids?

FantasyClover: I know a girl named sunmi who has eyes like Namji.. and she didn't get her eyes done. Same for my brothers girlfriend.. her eyes are pretty big. How do you know she had surgery? It doesn't look-like she had her eyes done at all.. there are koreans with big and small eyes.. not everyone who's korean has slanty eyes.... sure.gif

well I could tell by the picture.. she didn't get her eyes done.

that's cuz they were born with big eyes icon_smile.gif ...surgery can help but it can't drastically change the size of the eyes...nor their face...
also their eyes look bigger in pics cuz they open it wide...and make up can make it look larger too...
