DeepaRaya haram?, The Perak mufti thinks so Options

DeepaRaya is haram, say Muslim bloggers and Perak mufti. What do Muslims here think? Is DeepaRaya really haram according to your religion, or is it just a word?

i jest think ...Deepavali is Deepavali. Raya is raya...dun need to mix both of them eventho the celebration`s date nearly same.
Haram?? i think its inappropiate coz both of the celebration hv their own meaning.

The mufti must be an idiot. Why haram, Muslims are not celebrating Deepavali, the Hindus do. Declaring whether Deeparaya os haram is out of his jurisdiction and beyond the comprehension of his tiny brain to make conclusions.

Sometimes i believe we should have elections to elect these muftis to ensure that they do not make dumb embarrassaing statements like the Perak mufti did.

I think i am going to send an e-mail to this mufti to give a piece of my mind if possible.

Comeon Muftis and all the religious heads. Deeparaya is just playing around with words to show that M'sia is multiracial. We are also proud that it only happens once every 12 years? How shallow can these people get. These religious heads really need to be thought about globalisation and how one cannot survive without one another in this fast paced world. I respect them but they gotta show some respect to the other races too.

Well, I actually explained to him what Deeparaya means and that it has nothing to do with Muslims celebrating Deepavali or making sacrilege. I even posted a Wikepedia meaning of Deeparaya to him to proof this and later requested the mufti from making anymore careless remarks which is harmful to both Muslims and non-muslims. I reminded him that it is not the non-muslims that are the greatest threat to the ummah but other threats like povert and drugs and a person of his responsibility should be better off addressing these problems than creating hostilities among Malaysians and damaging the image of Muslims.

I replied in Malay though. It was 3 paragraphs long.Well, i hope the mufti reads it. Don't worry, i was really polite in the e-mail.

i believe they hv no disrespect for other culture. mayb jes misconception due to the words itself.
