ABS-CBN! I would only turn on the TV for that. Still, now that I have TFC, I mostly watch that network. Back in the Philippines though, I watched quite a lot of MTV.

August 30, 2005 The Pinoy Big Brother “reality show” recently received a flak from concerned groups for showing too intimate and lewd footage on air. The groups filed complaints to MTRCB Chairwoman Maria Consoliza-Laguardia to censor and if possible suspend the show. ABS-CBN representatives and the concerned groups composed of the Coalition for Decency and Morality (Code M), CBCP Office on Women, Pro-Life Philippines, The Philippine Crusade for the Defense of Christian Civilization, Skills, Values, and Entrepreneurship for Progress (SAVE), and the Family Federation for World Peace, attended a meeting with Laguardia last August 26 to discuss the matter. In response to MTRCB admonitions, ABS-CBN promised to tone down the sexual and erotic content of Pinoy Big Brother and to focus on its teledrama theme. MTRCB encouraged viewers to continue monitoring objectionable live feeds in the show and to file their position papers and complaints. Future violations will be ground for suspending the program. Below is the position paper of Pro-Life Philippines which summarily presents the concerned groups’ objections to Pinoy Big Brother. ----------- August 26, 2005 MARIA CONSOLIZA-LAGUARDIA MTRCB Chairman 6th Floor, President Tower 81 Timog Avenue Quezon City Dear Madam, We from the Pro-Life Philippines would like to raise our complaints against the “reality show” teleseries Pinoy Big Brother being aired on a prime time slot in ABS-CBN Channel. We are very concerned and troubled of the implications of this show to our children and to society in general. We are voicing our objections against the show on the following grounds, which we hope will merit your attention: • Pinoy Big Brother infringes the intrinsic right to privacy of persons, where privacy is cast as something with a price, in this case, P 1-million cash plus house and lot to winners. The fact that the participants still show reservations (call it “inhibitions”) in doing some of the activities and penalties on camera is a testimony that we human beings by nature, unlike the lower animals, need to guarantee our sense of private space. We decry the participants being lured to expose their private and toilet activities on public. • Pinoy Big Brother taunts the intimate relations between man and woman in a marriage. The participants in the show tell that what they are baring on TV and doing together with their “partners” (dressing and undressing, going to the toilet, doing body paints, going to rooms together, going bare from swimming pools) is acceptable to any man and woman the way husbands and wives will eventually do together. But the participants are not husbands and wives to be encouraged to do things they admit are proper to married partners. The partners are not even committed or engaged to each other, where one is already married and beginning to have a crush on a housemate. This is worse than TV shows presenting boyfriends and girlfriends engaging in erotic and sexually suggestive activities. The characters are complete strangers and are openly vulnerable to each other’s ploys to win the game. • Pinoy Big Brother exposes our children to wrong values on sexuality. In one episode, housemates discussed use of female contraceptives and first sexual encounters. One male contestant shamelessly confessed he was eight when he had his first sexual experience with his maid. • Pinoy Big Brother defeats its claimed “reality” value that supposedly justifies its lewd presentations. The participants are placed in conditions that don’t reflect real life. Being conscious that they are on air, it is expected for them not to act out their true selves the way they will do off the record. Pinoy Big Brother is a sham, and our children deserve better than phony discussions and “realities.” • There’s nothing “pro-Pinoy” in Pinoy Big Brother. It blurs the true state and lifestyles of ordinary Filipinos while exalting irresponsible hippie and yuppie living. Majority of Filipinos start their day preparing to go to office or school, busy throughout the day, and spending the rest of their time with their families or genuine friends, far from the Filipino “reality” being shown in the teleseries. The TV program is but an imitation of an American “reality” show version. The original show casts self-confessed people from broken families who lived in dysfunctional environments. Its voyeuristic and exhibitionist theme only gives participants opportunity to exhibit their dysfunction (cuss words, suggestive sex on air, etc.) not cure it. We expect these kinds of show to worsen if we will tolerate them. We therefore hope that your good office will stop Pinoy Big Brother or any of its kind from airing on TV. We expect your board to continue preserving our most invaluable and true Pinoy values. Thank you very much. Respectfully yours, MR. NICOLO F. BERNARDO Media Relations Personnel SR. MARY PILAR L. VERZOSA, RGS National Coordinator-Pro-Life Philippines Program Officer-Coalition for Decency and Morality (Code M) ![]() ![]() I think for women they should wear something like this ![]() ![]() Housemates Reveal to Kuya Their Possible Nominations Friday, September 02, 2005 10:46 AM They already have their nominations. Ten housemates revealed to Kuya yesterday their POSSIBLE choices for the first ever Pinoy Big Brother Nomination Night. As early as yesterday, Franzen, JB, Jason, Uma, Rico, Bob, Say, Cass, Nene and Racquel have already decided who they would possibly choose for the upcoming nomination, which will be held tomorrow night. Only Chx and Jenny remained puzzled as to whom they will select among the 12 housemates. The two told Pinoy Big Brother that they still need more time to think about the matter. Reasons for their Nominations The housemates gave two main reasons for their possible nominations. It’s either they don’t like the housemate or they feel that the housemate is a major threat against their survival inside the Pinoy Big Brother house. Among the housemates who chose to nominate the persons that they think are threats to their ultimate survival inside the house are Rico, Racquel and Nene. Other housemates wanted to eliminate the persons that they are not comfortable to live with inside the house JB explained that although he has nothing against on some of the housemates, he stressed that he’s relationship with them is not that well. “Wala po kasi kaming napapag-uusapan, Kumbaga hindi ko po alam kung pano makarelate sila, ang ganun po rin sila siguro sa akin.” Although they have different opinions on who they want to nominate, the twelve agreed on one thing; they are not yet ready to leave the Pinoy Big Brother House. They said that if ever they’re ousted from the contest, they will accept their fate but with a heavy heart. “Siyempre masakit yun, pero kailangan kong tanggapin kasi mayroon talagang magiging winner dito. Tatanggapin ko na lang at magdadasal na lang ako na baka mayroon pa akong ibang chance,” Jenny explained. The Final Nominations The choices that the housemates made yesterday are not final and unofficial, Most of all, it has no bearing on what will be the outcome of the Nomination night tomorrow. Pinoy Big Brother only asked their sentiments on the upcoming nomination night. The only housemate that is sure to be nominated tomorrow is Rico, since Pinoy Big Brother already nominated him last Wednesday for showing unpleasant behavior inside the house. The housemates still have more than a day to make their final choices. And a lot can still happen that might affect their decisions. One great factor that could influence their final nominations is the result of their Dance Marathon Challenge, which they will know today. |

can i vote AXN? hehe
ABS-CBN, for news and public affairs... because they have vast coverage of the philippines and abroad. GMA, for comedy (coz its not that corny compared to ABS-CBN) and their shows like Jessica Soho Reports, Imbestigador, etc. coz Kapuso talaga. hehe where's that "STRAIGHT TALK" shown again? i think that's the only show i watch in another philippine channel. other than that, it's AXN, Studio 23 and Animax for animes.. kid stuff.. LMAO |
