Plot

The Ravages of Time is an adaptation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, showing the fortunes of Liu Bei, Cao Cao, the Sun family, and the Sima family. The Simas are a successful and rich merchant family, led by the young Sima Yi, who has shown a flair for spotting profitable business venture ever since a young age. The Sima family, however, possesses a sinister side as they command the Crippled Legion (殘兵) - a group of mercenary assassins reputed to be infallible. The story opens with the Crippled Legion assasinating Xu Ling, a fictional advisor to Dong Zhuo, in order to repel Dong Zhuo's advances to subdue the various merchant clans.

As the series progresses, Sima Yi finds himself being dragged reluctantly into the wars of the Three Kingdoms period, and eventually ends up at the mercy of Cao Cao.

Sima Yi and his band of assassins frequently are the catalyst of events in the story. They are involved in the downfall of Dong Zhuo, confront Cao Cao when the latter invades Xu Zhou, and defeat Lu Bu at the Battle of Puyang. Sima Yi's story is a common thread which runs through the narrative.

The story is also told from the point of view of the Eight Enigmas (八奇), a group of elite military-advisors trained by Water-Mirror (水鏡), also known as Sima Hui. They consist of Yuan Fang (a fictional character), Jia Xu, Xun Yu, Guo Jia, Zhou Yu, Pang Tong and Zhuge Liang, with the identity of the eighth enigma unknown. Each of the advisers have their own motivations for following their ruler and some chapters are devoted to revealing their background story and intents.

Plz tell me where i can get this, i've always been interested in the "three kingdoms" thing

They used to sell manhua at Borders and Barnes & Nobles a few years ago but stopped. Probably didn't sell too well compared to manga and manwha.

I have the first volumes of Saint Legend and Story of the Tao by Andy Seto, but I stopped by them after a while because I couldn't afford to spend that much money on them (they were like $15 or so)....and then they took 'em off the shelves. icon_confused.gif Beautiful artwork, but the plot was hard to follow, the dialogue was pretty badly translated, and the layout was kinda weird too; at one point you're reading from left-to-right, then right-to-left, and then back to left-to-right...O_o was worth it for the art alone though.

I think they were published by Comics One.

Oh yeah, and I also have 4 volumes of the prequel manhua to Crounching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and one volume of the manhua adaptation of Shaolin Soccer, both by Andy Seto as well.

I don't remember much about Hong Kong because I was there about three years ago. A place you can check out right when you get there is the airport [if you're landing in Hong Kong]. Then there's this big mall I remember... though I can't recall the name. D:
They're a bit strict in Hong Kong about the kind of manga you buy. I bought a few that barely contained any fighting/blood and it wasn't mature at all, but there was a sticker on the front saying I had to be 18+ to buy it. There weren't any ones in english as far as I know.
