Koreans are generally over 170cm, and they have "yellow" skin and oriental facial features.

Filipinos are generally under 170 cm and they are dark brown. They also exude negrito facial features as well.

Not meant in any racial harm.

Filipinos have flatter noses and darker skin. I'm not sure if they're mixed with hispanics or not with the influence of Spain but they are closer to south asia where a lot of people are black.

Asia is very large, any sort of people 1000's of miles away will undoubtly look different.

South Asia, thats in India were nowhere near India and no were not mixed with negritos either. I would also ignore that poster if I were you he's clearly anti-filipino or uneducated if he's asking stupid questions like that. And no we don't have very dark skin we have tanned skin. I have even seen an korean who was darker then me.

Wow your going to generalize all filipinos because one filipino kid in your class is darker then any korean you have ever seen. Yes there are dark filipinos just like their are dark koreans. But all in all the majority of filipinos are tanned skin just like the majority of koreans are really light skinned.

Somebody lock this thread

Nah Im happy being filipino. Just educating you that most filipinos are tanned not dark. And were not born this way either, its the melanin in our skin that gives us an tan complexion to protect our skin from the sun. You realize that most tropical countries have tanned or darker people.

And somebody close this thread, nothing good will come out of it.

Ethnic Groups
Malays, accounting for 95%, they form the bulk of the population and number around 80 million. Many live poverty striken, though some can now be found among the middle class. Most are citydwellers, although a great number still live traditional lifestyles in the mountains and rural areas. The most numerous of these are the Tagalog, the Visayan and the Ilokano. Most speak tribal languages and/or Filipino (based on Tagalog), and the other major languages, again Visayan and Ilokano.
The neutrality of this article is disputed. See the article's talk page for more information.
Chinese, they form the most significant non-native element in the country. Most are successful and prosperous business people. They form part of both the upper and middle classes. Their primary languages are English, Chinese and Filipino. They number around 1.5 million, close to 2% of the population. Chinese-mestizos included they would number close to 3 million. [See also Chinese-mestizo]
Mestizos, they form a tiny but economically and politically important minority. The combined number of all types of mestizos constitute no more than 2% of the entire Filipino population. Mestizos in the Philippines may be of any race combination or ratio. Mestizos are categorized as follows:
Spanish-mestizo, a combination of ethnic Malay with either Spanish, Basque or Mexican. They are light skinned, usually taller than the majority Malay-stock, and quite European looking. Spanish-mestizos speak Filipino, though English is their primary language. Some have preserved Spanish as the spoken language of the home. They constitute the great majority of the upper class and are extremely endogamous, rarely intermingling with those outside their ethnic group. A great majority are either in politics or high-ranking executives of commerce and industry and hold great control over the country's economy. An almost equally large number are also members of the entertainment industry, which they have saturated disproportionately. The biased favouritism responsible for their overwhelming presence in film and television is deeply-rooted on established Filipino "ideals of beauty" that are determine based on the possession of at least partial White ancestry, and which stem from colonial concepts [see Colonial Mentality]. They number around 1 million and are concentrated around Manila, a few others are established in metropolitan areas of Bacolod and Zamboanga.
Chinese-mestizo, a combination of ethnic Malay and Chinese. They are usually light skinned and quite mainland-Mongoloid in appearance, with highly epicanthic eyes. Much like the Chinese, most are successful and prosperous business people. They form part of both the upper and middle classes. Some are also in the entertainment industry. Their primary languages are English, Chinese and Filipino. They number just over 1 million and are most concentrated in Manila (Binondo) and Pampanga.
Japanese-mestizo, a combination of ethnic Malay with Japanese or Okinawan. Many are members of the lower class. Because of discrimination encoutnered, some fled to the mountains after World War II while many others changed their names in the attempts to assimilate. Some have completely lost their Japanese identity and others yet have "returned" to the homeland of their forebears, Japan. There are also a number of contemporary Japanese-mestizos not associated with the history of the earlier established one. These latter are the resultant of unions between Filipinos and recent immigrant Japanese. Most Japanese-mestizos speak tribal languages and Filipino. There are believed to be between 100,000 and 200,000 Japanese-mestizos in the country, but no accurate figure is currently available. Significant numbers reside in Davao and surrounding areas.
American-mestizo, the offspring of ethnic Malay mothers and American [whether Caucasian, Latino/Hispanic-American or African-American] GI fathers. They are also known as Amerasians. They can be found in the upper class, but also amongst the middle and lower classes as a result of the abandonment of their American fathers upon completion of military service and subsequent withdrawal of US forces. Much like Spanish-mestizos, for those whose American ancestry was Caucasian or Latino/Hispanic-American, many have successfully pursued careers in the entertainment industry. The number of American-mestizos is thought to be between 20,000 and 30,000. Most speak Filipino and English.
East Indians, they are mostly merchants and belong primarily to the middle class. There are approximately 30,000 East Indians. Most speak Filipino and Punjabi or Sindhi.
Negritos, Aeta are the negroid pre-Malay inhabitants of the Philippines, closely related to the Papuans. They are also known as the Aborigines of the Philippines. They are the poorest and most disadvantaged segment of the Filipino population. Their numbers have been decreasing rapidly. They are thought to number between 20,000 and 30,000. Most speak their tribal languages and have little or no understanding of Filipino. The government has sponsored educational programmes as well as encouraging school attendance, though many of them still enounter difficulties.
Other smaller communities of expatriates from various countries also exist and they include; close to 50,000 Caucasians from Europe, America and Canada who sought economic and investment opportunities; some 35,000 Indonesians, most of whom are either illegal immigrants, refugees, but also many students; around 30,000 Japanese and Koreans who are mostly recently arrived immigrants also seeking economic and investment opportunities.

It's not the most racially homogenous country unlike korea which is

Population
Korea's population is one of the most ethnically and linguistically homogenous in the world. Except for a small Chinese community (about 20,000), virtually all Koreans share a common cultural and linguistic heritage. With 48.3 million people, South Korea has one of the world's highest population densities. Major population centers are located in the northwest, southeast, and in the plains south of Seoul-Incheon.

Korea experiences one of the largest rates of emigration with ethnic Koreans residing primarily in China (1.9 million), the United States (1.52 million), Japan (681,000), and the countries of the former Soviet Union (450,000).

It's not the most racially indigneous country

Filipino Malays do make up the bulk of the population though. And malays are indegionous to the Philippines. And even if there are mestizo they still have malay blood in them. So that would make filipino an homogenous country made up of malays and mestizos with malay blood. And the ethnic minority negritos.

Can somebody close the thread or at least move it to the filipino forum.

I could get into a lot of other things such as Filipinos chosing lighter, Spanish Causian influenced people that look more European in their national image, which what might be persuading you into some false representation of filipinos but I wont. That 5% could go a long way, thats 4 million people, and even further if they're not staying within that 5% and marrying amongst the rest of the population.

this is a really stupid question... i mean, y was the thread started if he/she himself agrees that they don't look alike... WTF?

anyways...

yea, koreans and filipinos do not look alike...

THIS IS NOT SAYING EVERY SINGLE FILIPINO/KOREAN LOOKS LIKE THIS...
it's sort of like if you were to pick 100 of each culture, most are bound to have some if not most of these features.

SAME:
-hair colour (black that sometimes shines really dark red-brown in the sun), xcept koreans like dying hair more the filipinos, although colouring hair is still sort of common in the philippines...
-the overall asian look... iunno if that sounds like generalizing, but if i were to ask if koreans looked more like filipinos or italians what would you say?

DIFFERENT:
-skin colour... and i'm talking about pretty minute differences... filipinos natural skin is light (a bit darker than koreans), esp in filipino girls... (<--i wonder y tho..) but is of course much darker from the tanning process than koreans... filipino skin is generally bronzish... most koreans have lighter skin than bronze...
-eyes... iunno, i've always considered filipinos having rounder eyes than koreans (again, just the majority of more of these cultures.. you ppl always try n find something politically incorrect in a post and attack it... sure.gif
-height... hmm... yeah, koreans are taller, but not by much... although most filipinos are short. to add to that, for some reason filipinos born in north america usually grow up taller than koreans born in north america...
-koreans have higher cheekbones... embarassedlaugh.gif
-noses? iunno... someone said filipinoes have flatter noses, i'm not too sure about that... i'd say they're both just as flat...

CONCLUSION:
whoever thought of this question is weird.. comparing the, looks of other nationalities.. seriously, there is no way of knowing b/c everyone looks different... filipinos looks can't be easily determined b/c the philippines is a nice potpourri of cultures mixing for hundreds of years, while koreans don't like mixing with other ppl in korea... i guess it's b/c everyone around them has attacked or occupied them one time or another.. there's just no trust... lol. j/k. to the east is japan which is just.. japan... so that aint really an option, and to the north/west is dprk, which south koreans can't even enter... haha. there's no opportunity to mix... i bet if they could, they would... heh.
