Since I am the only West Indian on Asiafinest, I figured you may have never seen an Asian girl that was born in the West Indies.
She is the winner of a the American television show entitled Project Runway.

Possibly because when I made this thread http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=299804 You never hailed me up??? So don't even try to draw card. Also everyone in Jamaica is mixed despite the person's outer shell. Why do you think the coat of arms state "Out Of Many One People?" Nevertheless, What Parish in Jamaica are you from? First chick looks mixed not really full Asian and 2nd chick obviously mixed People from the West Indies are heavily mixed. It would be rare to find someone that is not mixed. The mixture is almost always African with Asian or Indian. It is the reason many Asian/Indian foods & customs have been a part of our culture for hundreds of years. There is Caucasian mixture as well however, it is minimum compared to Asian & Indian. The Caucasian add mixture almost always stems from Europe with little (if any) from the United States. Unlike Americans who separate themselves by race (ex. African Americans & White Americans, Asian Americans) West Indians (some will say Caribbean) will state Jamaican (Jamaica), Trini (Trinidad), Bajan (Barbados) and, so forth regardless if they resemble African, Asian, Caucasian or Indian. We don't racially divide ourselves like Americans. And of course, music is a big part of our culture, which brings forth Carnival in the West Indies. We also celebrate in the Americas (United States & Canada) wherever there is a large population of West Indians. I might add despite frivolous bickering amongst one another, on which Island is better, we always come together and celebrate our West Indian heritage on a yearly bases. You can't be a mixture. I take it you were not born in Jamaica? i was born in Jamaica, you asked me which parish i'm from. From i was a baby to 7 i was in negril from 7 to 16 Mandeville 16 to 20 kingston My heart is in all 3 parishes because i spent a good quality of my life in each. And that’s how i take it. Exactly My dad is british Scandinavian/mom originally from Trinidad(trinidadian indian). I'm born in jamaica, grew up in jamaica, i got jamaican accent, i'm jamaican. I'm not going to say i am indian or white, technically i'm half trini indian/half white but first i'm jamaican. Since i came on Af some people assume i was indian, i made it clear that i'm not indian and that i'm jamaican, so they assumed that i'm black. Indian is a nationality as far as i'm concerned, i see myself as jamaican first. Go to any jamaican chinese, and they will say they are jamaican, you won't hear them saying they are chinese before they say they are jamaican. She is the winner of a the American television show entitled Project Runway. ![]() Anya Ayoung-Chee's heritage is Chinese but she's Trinidadian. Trinidad and Tobago have had two Miss Universe winners: 1977 and 1998). Ayoung-Chee is the second title holder in the franchise's 44-year history to be of Chinese descent, the first being Stephanie Lee Pack in 1974. Chinese immigrants in the West Indies were mainly brought as alternative slaves because there were a shortage of African slaves. QUOTE Chinese Trinidadian and Tobagonian (sometimes Sino-Chinese Trinidadian and Tobagonian) are Trinidadians and Tobagonians of Chinese descent. The group includes people from China and Overseas Chinese who have immigrated to Trinidad and Tobago and their descendants, including those who have emigrated to other countries (especially the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, but also to other countries including China). The term is usually applied both to people of mixed and unmixed Chinese ancestry, although the former usually appear as mixed race in census figures. Chinese settlement began in 1806. Between 1853 and 1866 2,645 Chinese immigrants arrived in Trinidad as indentured labour for the sugar and cacao plantations. Immigration peaked in the first half of the twentieth century, but was sharply curtailed after the Chinese Revolution in 1949. After peaking at 8,361 in 1960, the (unmixed) Chinese population in Trinidad declined to 3,800 in 2000.

Go to any jamaican chinese, and they will say they are jamaican, you won't hear them saying they are chinese before they say they are jamaican. So you were born in Negril. Bear in mind you stated "mixture of westermorland/manchestor/st catherine" and did not explain how you can be in three different parishes located on different parts of the island... until know. The confusion that came from other members from Asiafinest is due to not thoroughly explaining to them that there are East Indians in Jamaica that were born in Jamaica. Upon viewing some of the photos, I would imagine some members never knew Asians were popular in the West Indies. Had I offered Indians as well, they may be shocked to see the wide variety of hues in terms of complexion. You may not realise it but many are not familiar with the West Indies more so, Jamaica other than what they see on Television. Reggae is very popular in Asia and Jamaican entertainers are 99% black so you cannot blame Asiafinest’s members for assuming you were black when you said you were Jamaican. So having a little more understanding is in order especially, when you (and I ) are looked upon as tourists, and not natives on Asiafinest. Due keep that in mind. Cheers! |

It’s not about seniority as a member on Asiafinest. It is more to wards real world experience in a culture that offers different morals and ethics, which you are not familiar with. |

It says right on the wiki page that Chinese were "indentured laborers". Indentured is just a euphimism for slave. Of course White people hate to admit they oppressed Asians. |

Since you have not been on Af very long you are not aware of my ethics or morals. Or even how much i know about the asian culture. There might be things i can't relate to but i understand the asian culture more than you know. At college in usa my friend circle was mostly asians- Taiwanese, chinese, Malaysian, japanese, south korean, Vietnamese and best friend from india. Even in jamaica, my friend circle were mainly east indian from india(not jamaican born indians). I've dated both oriental asians and indian guys, so i am aware of their traditions. Most of my current friends are east indians, and i know some hindi enough to communicate and understand. The asian culture holds a special place in my heart obviously.
