Seems it is true what they were saying during the riots on the Caribbean island of Martinique when it comes to France treatment of its overseas American territories. Supposedly, they are all part of France just like any French province but it seems they get treated differently for some reason.

Watch this video on French Guiana and the French rocket industry there.
Seems the locals are not allowed to work there. Video also talks about French Guianas history. Good video. It is hard to find good information when it comes to French Guiana.

QUOTE
A bridge is being built across the river to connect Brazil and French Guiana, due to be completed in 2010, and will be the first international land border connection of French Guiana.
Which means French Guiana could be seeing many Brazilians.

Currently, there is no bridge across the Oiapoque (which is the name in Portuguese) river. Called in French the Oyapock river. So they use boats to cross. This is Brazil Highway 156 from about two years ago by the border with French Guiana. When this video was taken 270 Km. (167 miles) still needed to be paved. French Guiana also has no bridge arcross the Maroni river which connects there roads to Surinams which there other neighbor. So all must cross the river using boats.

Cool, my dad's family is all from French Guiana. Originally they lived in France up until about 10 years ago when they moved. My uncle says Brazilians regularly come to cause trouble in French Guiana.
