Nanyue Culture
There was an fusion of the Han and Yue cultures in significant ways, as shown by the artifacts unearthed by archaeologists from the tomb of Nanyue in Guangzhou. The imperial Nanyue tomb in Guangzhou is extremely rich. There are quite a number of bronzes that show cultural influences from the Han, Chu, Yue and Ordos regions.[30] Chen Bozhuang- a Columbia graduate and leading member of the Research institute of the Communication University, " He marked that the completetion of the Canton Hankow line would be remember as the most significant milestone in China's history of transportation. He added in the “2000 years of Chinese history since the king of Nanyue Zhao Ta (Nanyue wang Zhao Ta),” he wrote, “nothing had been more remarkable than the completion of the Canton-Hankow line".[31] Its exhibition treats Nanyue as the centre of a rich world, stretching to Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Someone's a lil paranoid.. why would you think that person is lao? that person can be chinese or even viet. so dont jump into conclusion by saying thats a lao person without him/her saying they are, unless you wanna get flamed on again.

It does have something to do with Vietnam because it was conquered by Nanyue in 179 BC and was ruled by them until 111BC.

Vietnam and China were one empire that split. The bigger part is now China and smaller part is now Vietnam. They were one people share the same culture. What you can find in Vietnam can also be found in China. Almost, every Vietnamese surname originated from China.

E.g. Truong surname origin were from ancient Chu state. Even Tran surname, one of most popular surnames in Vietnam also originated from China.

The Champa considered Vietnam ended 1,000 years Chinese domination was actually an empire split (read the Champa history). Meanwhile the Chinese considered that was a rebellion.

Some people think Vietnamese culture looks similar to Chinese because of the result a 1,000 years Chinese ruled, this is not correct. If you look at Co Loa citidel, there already Chinese culture in it.

The period Thuc Phan built Co Loa citidel was before the period Chinese domination. This comes to conclusion that there was already a connection established between the Chinese and the local Vietnamese before Nan Yue/ Nam Viet came to picture. And this period was the period of human migration from North to South and vice versa.

There were really no Vietnam nor China at the time but many factions/tribes/civilizations warring among themselves. These people later fused into one big empire, the Qin empire. One culture and one language formed.

"Binh Ngo Dai Cao" was written after Vietnam repelled Ming invasion by one of famous Vietnamese heroes.

“Việc nhân nghĩa cốt ở yên dân,
Quân điếu phạt trước lo trừ bạo,
Như nước Đại Việt ta từ trước
Vốn xưng nền văn hiến đă lâu
Nước non bờ cơi đă chia,
Phong tục Bắc Nam cũng khác...”

The google translation of the last two lines is this
"Borders has divided non confines,
North-South customs are different ...

That also means before there was indifferent of borders and customs of the two. "Binh Ngo Dai Cao", "Hich Tuong Si" and man others popular poems were written in Chinese language.

Nanyue is not a Laotian, but a 100% Vietnamese trying to stir problem between Lao and Chinese. Funny, for the last 50 or so years. Laotian or Chinese never had any of these kind of argument between us people before in the past.

It was later until them Vietnamese jealously of Lao be friends with our old ancient sister China. We are an old ancient friend from the past, but these Vietnamese are trying to separate us apart by hostile intention here.

Please Nanyue, a Viet troll. We know you're not Laotian, and that you are hiding behind our ethnic/national name to claim yourself Laotian just to start $hit between Laotian and Chinese.

Nanyue is a Cambodian troll. Why is it that Nanyue only troll viet and chinese forum? If he was laos, he would of tryed to troll laos forum and turn it into a anti-chinese forum. It's obivous a Cambodian, if he's not cambodian then he's obvious a mon-khmer decendant

Like freeter said, be like the Khmer Rouge and blame everything to Vietnamese when something bad happens.

If Nanyue "were" Vietnamese, why would he bash us sooo much, he called us cultureless people, barbarians and whatsoever...yea all that happened in some topic not long ago where he got into a clash with viet members. Apparently lao culture is very original and superior, while Viet culture is all copycats and cheap.

But then he claimed to be laotian chinese and he bashed chinese too.

Whatever ethnicity he is, it wouldnt matter anymore, he's just one very confused individual.

With that being said, some Viet members are a bit too ecstatic to say Nanyue got nothing to do with Vietnam (since the Red River Delta made up the most populous part of Nanyue). The bronze drums there are pretty similar to the Dongson bronze drums though styles are bit different (the style in Red River Delta are taller and slimmer), but bronze drums are found in many places not just Vietnam and China but also Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Nationalists of any side would say they're all Vietnamese or all Chinese or all Zhuang or all Lao or whatever. But my take is that there was either a spread in culture or trade or people in this sphere shared a similar culture (though they're not necessarily the same people).

Nanyue was quite successful in rousing sentiment in the Chinese chat. Most of his threads turned into baskets full of rotten apple in the form of hateful comments bombarding at Vietnam.

Or Nanyue can be a Filipino since he does sound like that Filipino troll a couple of years back who claim himself Thai to insult Lao,Viet and Khmer against each other.
