i don't think mainlanders use 口膠 (funny cuz it sounds like 口交, which to us, means oral sex) anymore. i tried looking it up using mainland search engines, and it seems like we have assimilated them...they also use 口香糖 now

Like caolucai said, most Chinese people don't say 口胶 anymore - since it sounds the same as "oral sex".
指环王 is what the Chinese officially use for "The Lord of the Rings". 保险带 is what a taxi driver told me to put on when I got in the front seat. I was like huh? put on the condom? (保险套) |

I've lived in China most my life and I haven't heard 保险带either, 安全带 is the most banal. |

搞衛生 把事情搞好 把事情搞定 搞建設 搞電腦 I barely hear anyone use 搞 in Taiwan. |

I can assure you, Guangdong, Hainan, and Xianggang uses 魔戒, Xiang Kou Jiao(Gum), 安全带.
