Vietnam advances to ASIAN UNIVERSITIES FOOTBALL FINAL
Host Vietnam scored its fourth consecutive win, a hard-fought 4-2 defeat of China in the semifinal, to ensure a finals clash with Thailand in the Asian universities football tournament. Quang Tinh scored two goals, and Ngoc Anh and Phuc Hiep one each, all in the fist half. Earlier the team had beaten Thailand 2-1 and thrashed Brunei 7-0 in the group stage. It then crushed Sri Lanka 5-0 in the quarterfinals. The 34th Asian University Games, in which 11 teams participated, began in the central city of Da Nang on August 10. Holy Cow! Did Vietname really win against Thailand? Brunei and Sri Lanka seem like childplay. What sup with these guys. First they have a real hard time with neighboring country in soccer and then this. Outstanding.
