I love this stuff. I remember as a kid, my mom used to make it, and i enjoyed it every time.

Now all I can do is get the vacuum packed kind from the local "Asian Market" (which is usually full of mexicans on any given day except for sunday).

In Taiwan, I had this dish I really liked. It was this egg omlette thing that had lots of oyster in it, and something else was mixed into it also, making the entire thing like a mix of egg, oyster, and mucus. Sounds disgusting, but tastes really good! biggthumpup.gif I had it at the Taipei night markets. Anyone knows that it is?

This is called 蚵仔煎, Oh-ah jian, and it is really good, especially with the sauce they sometimes put on.

And the "mucus" is due to a type of starch they add to the eggs.

Most of the chinese food I have ate has been cantonese/hong kong dishes, but I do rememeber have twice-cooked quail and I was told it was a dish from Taiwan. It was very very good icon_smile.gif

Taiwanese food isn't the only stuff that tastes great in Taiwan -

You would think-
"Where do I go for good Chinese food? China -!"
WRONG.
For good Chinese food you go to Taiwan.

I remember a German friend saying that the best Peking duck he's ever had was not in Beijing, but rather in Taipei.

Bull$hit.

I just had Peking Duck at Quan Jude Kao Ya Dian (The main one where Arafat had also visited some years ago) a month ago, you can't find any better places than there.

Yes, I was in Taipei May of 2003.

I nearly died from the heat.

Anyway, I didn't go to any Peking duck places. Mostly just Taiwan Xiao Chi.

They were quite delicious if truth be told.

I just don't agree with the Archangel's statement, "For good Chinese food you go to Taiwan."
