The day the song was uploaded is a relatively good indicator. ZingMp3 is a very reliable website (as far as Vietnamese music is concerned), and it claims that the Vietnamese version was uploaded at exactly 12:02 AM on 12/15/2010 (probably by the singer himself).
http://mp3.zing.vn/tim-kiem/bai-hat.html?q=mua+bang+gia (The relevant info is at the top portion with the word HIT in red) I don't know much about the Cambodian version. The particular MV that you guys recommended was uploaded on 08/06/2011. However, that doesn't mean the song was recorded on that day as Youtube itself isn't a music tracking website. Someone can read Vietnamese ? |

Rumor of plagiarism has surfaced.
"Mua Bang Gia" sung by Khanh Trung, composed by Khanh Don is believed to have been fully plagiarized by a Cambodian singer. Many Vietnamese singers have been known to copy foreign songs. Such issue has persistently been thorny to Vietnamese audience. Many spent a great deal of time criticizing the singer. Criticism against unoriginal artists is right and should be continuously upheld by true appreciators of music. (The rest of the article from the link can be summarized as followed) Due to Vietnamese audience being extremely sensitive towards plagiarism because of the many incidents in the past, when the Cambodian version surfaced many had accused Khanh Trung of plagiarizing. The singer felt greatly troubled and dissapointed. Initially, he intent to overlook the incident; however, if the pressure keeps mounting up, he may have to resort to legal mean to clear his name. The song was composed by his best friend and ex-band mate Khanh Don. The two are confident that they have sufficient evident to win the trial if forced to take the matter to the court. I can testify about how bloodily ugly Vietnamese listeners are when they think a singer has shamed their country. There have been incident of fans slinging real rocks at singers believed to have plagiarized. |

In Thailand, we don't bother to sue them. There are just "too many" Khmer songs copied from Thai. I spent only 5 minutes to get almost 10 songs in my other post. If Thai music companies sued them for every song they copied, Thai companies would probably go bankrupt wasting time suing them all the time. |

It's not about money or compensation. The singer just wanted to get things cleared before getting stoned by the audience for something he didn't do.
