It's time to replace my ten-year old PC notebook. Long-time (like, over thirty years) PC user considering switching over to Mac and getting a MacBook Air. I practically grew up with the PC. Mac seems to offer quite a bit of nice features and functionality that are not available on the PC counterparts, and I'm curious and would like to try out those features/functions.

I'll still install Windows and possibly Ubuntu on the Airbook, of course. I'll play games on my main machine (a heavy-duty PC), and use the Airbook to surf and catch up with some old games while I'm out between assignments and places.

If you've used both, let me know why you think I should switch, or not.

Edit: Nevermind, I've decided to stick with PC.

I have decided not to switch. I posted the same question in some Apple forums. Wow, talk about self-absorbed, defensive, belligerent assh0les and d!cks. I'm completely put off by their rotten attitudes. I don't think I want to deal with those jerks or become one of those morons.

Actually it does not matter anymore because the new iMac is already PC based and you can even install Windows or Ubuntu in it. You can even install the latest Mac OS in a standard PC and one of my PCs has even Ubuntu, Windows, Mac OS triple boot.

Honestly, other than the coolness and prestige factor, I can't think of a good reason for me to use a Mac. I really don't need to use any apps that are exclusive to Mac; and if I don't need any Mac apps, I can't find a justification to pay for the higher repair and service premiums as demanded by Apple.

Now that I've thought about it... yeah, I'm too old to buy something to just to be "cool" or "prestigious". It's not like I'm still in high school. And, I seriously do not like the attitude of the Apple fanboys. The more I interact with them, the less I want to have anything to do with them... or their products. They are like a bunch of high school spoiled brats who love nothing else but show off their new toys and brag about how their toys are better then everyone else's.

Jocks and preps use Mac -- they want to be cool, they want something that looks cool, and they want the coolest toys to show off.

Nerds and geeks use PC. It's not about the exterior or coolness. It's about the inside.

Actually having an iMac, iPad and iPhone is a status symbol and people do not really need them because there are still many cheaper and better alternatives.
