well, i have a freind that is kinda mad about when people think he's a nationality he's not.......... can u tell me what you think he is??? I just knew about the "look" issue since I joined AF lol... I just want to tell again and again that you can look like everything if you live in the state, but if you walk on streets in Vietnam they will just think you are Viet.

I know a guy that looks kinda like you, he is a bit older though ...around 30yrs old. Anyways, people always say that he is mixed or mexican too - and he is 100% viet. So you are not alone, and it could be some genes from your great great great grandparents

I always think Laotians look most alike to Viet among southeast asian coutries. Look at the Laotian buddies at Bach khoa Hanoi college dude you will see. You can not tell apart who is Viet who is lao lol. @ The thread starter: when you are in vietnam, people must think you are viet. But they will also think "what is this guy? a rapper wannabe?"

From the densely thick eyebrows and the typical nose and typical thick lips, big round face and the protruding face features and the small ears, I would say
mixed second generation Black African and from the the shape of the eyes mixed Muong / Kinh from Vietnam provincial North-Central valley. But don't worry, you'll be fine when you go to Vietnam. Just because you asked, otherwise nobody would really care looking that closely at somebody. You're just one of many very common faces. |

Not really, like i never see any Laotian before. My sister studied at a university in hanoi and sometimes i picked her up after school. There were some Lao friends of her as well. While some looks kinda similar to Vietnamese but you can still see the difference. However, i do agree that among SEAsians, Laotian looks closer to Vietnamese than the rest. I love Lao as a country.
