[Mun-Mun]

I thought I should update so for those who are still reading; here's the next chapter and the last.


Chapter 9

“Madam, welcome home. Your mother and father have been looking for you.” The maid announced as they walked through the door.

“Thank you Lucy.” Anna brought Martin through the 13 feet tall doors.

“Honey, is that you? Come in to the living room.” Anna’s mother said with a worried tone. Anna and Martin walked into the living room hand in hand. Anna’s father looked up from the paper to see that they were together again.

“Honey, I thought we talked-”

“Dad, shut up. Martin and I are together and there’s nothing you can do about it. I’ll keep singing. If you don’t want Martin to be a part of Belle’s life, whatever. However, he’s part of my life and that’s that.” There was a dramatic pause with stares going across the room, diagonal and straight into each other’s eyes.

“You’re growing up aren’t you?” Anna’s father asked, finally accepting that his daughter is an independent and responsible woman.

“Yeah, I am. I’ve been thinking about Belle too. I want to tell the world that I’m Annabelle. It’s time for people to know the real me. We didn’t tell anyone because we thought I would be protected and have a normal life that way. That was only for school, I’m old enough to handle that now. People should know.” Anna looked her father straight in the eyes. Her parents looked each other in the eyes and they nodded in agreement.

“There’s a press conference tomorrow morning. Dress as Anna, act like Anna, and bring Martin.” Anna’s mother announced.

The next morning the press gathered closer to the stage.

“I have important news. I am not Belle Jang.” The press looked confused and bewildered. “I am Annabelle Chen, a girl who tried to protect herself from paparazzi when she was in school. That’s done now, and so is me hiding who I really am. I even have someone really important in my life that everyone in the world needs to know. This is Martin Cheung, my boyfriend.” The press wrote down every word Anna said while Anna and Martin looked into her eyes,

“Actually, Anna made a mistake.” Martin announced into the microphone. The press looked confused and started erasing what they wrote down. Anna was worried because she thought he would leave again. Martin got down on one knee and took out a small little black box. He opened it and in it was a diamond ring that was in a spiral pattern. It was a thin ring that would have been perfect for Anna.

“Annabelle Chen, I love you with all my heart. I’ve waited 4 years to do this, will you marry me?” Martian took the ring out of the box and held Anna’s hand. He slipped the ring on as Anna’s mouth broke open and yelped with a YES. Months later they were standing next to each other saying their vows and kissing each other because of the excitement of their wedding. Anna sang at the wedding and it was a huge success of happiness. During their honeymoon they never left each other, they made sure that in their life they would always be together. Even when telling their children stories at night, they would be together.

“Happy 10 year anniversary.” Martin said with a diamond necklace in his hands, ready for Anna’s neck.

“Oh… that’s beautiful. Happy 10 year anniversary!” They held each other as they walked out of the Lake. They got into the car and drove to the restaurant they went to where they first got to really know each other. The waitress wasn’t there anymore, but they still had laughs about it all the time. Years passed quicker than seconds for them. They were so happy that it never occurred to them that Anna had a health problem. Just like Jared, she needed a heart surgery but no one ever noticed it. It was deep and unable to be seen or heard by doctors. By the time Anna was 69 she was on her deathbed. Nothing could help her now, Anna refused to get a heart transplant because the heart she had was the heart that she fell in love with Martin. It was that heart that kissed him the first time and that heart that rolled around in the ground with because she loved him that much. She couldn’t get rid of that heart. Martin never understood why but couldn’t deny her wishes. He just wanted her happy, even if it meant she had to die and his soul and heart had to die with her.

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

They exchanged their feeling together when the doctor came in and told Martin that Anna would have maybe 15 hours to live, the most. Anna’s last request was that if she died she wanted to die at the Lake. The same lake that they first discovered each other. Martin slowly took her to the Lake, knowing that without the support from hospital she would just die quicker. He cried all the time and she never knew. He hurt all the time, from seeing her to leaving her at the hospital to go home.

“This is so beautiful.”

“Yeah, it is.”

“Martin, don’t do that.”

“Do what?”

“Be sad. I can’t watch you like that when I die.”

“How am I supposed to act? My wife is about to die.”

“Enjoy the moments with me. Don’t make the worse of it.”

“You’re right, if you’re going to die, then I might as well spend as much time with you as I can.” They just watched the lake until Anna got weak enough to fall asleep in Martin’s arms. Anna’s heart hurt and she woke up screaming.

“AHH!”

“What?!”

“It hurts Martin, it hurts.”

“We have to get you to the hospital now.” Martin began to get up.

“No, I want to die here, where we first met.”

“Anna, stop being foolish, I can’t lose you.”

“I love you Martin, no matter I’m here or not.” Anna said in a raspy voice. Martin’s cheek had a tear roll off.

“I love you too, more than life or death itself.” With that last reassurance from Martin Anna left the world with a smile knowing that she was always loved and that never changed. Martin sobbed to himself and no matter how many times he would go to that lake to feel better he’d just hurt more, but he couldn’t stop himself from going there. It was too special to forget and to special to never go back to. Martin never went to another woman and never stopped loving Anna, not even that heartbreaking day he passed away with his children by his side.

“You all remind me of your mother, I waited 15 years to see her again, and now I will. My angel will be up in heaven waiting for me, and I can’t wait to see her.” After his children had heard that with their eyes watering and tears rolling off their frowns; they heard the heart machine have its final beep. Martin and Anna never left each other, no matter where they went, they were together. They had more love than anyone could imagine. Their hearts were filled with happiness of each other and love that could withstand anything and everything.
