Women of marriageable age are under intense pressure to look their best at all times and one of the consequences has been an explosion in plastic surgery.

A woman's magazine recently advised its readers to spend 30% of their incomes on looking good.

The reason, you will end up with a better and richer husband and that has to be a sensible investment.

This is one reason why I don't plan on going back to Korea for a LOOOOOONG time. I felt the intense pressure to look good when I was there as a teenager, when you're supposed to be concentrating on studies... I can't imagine how bad it must be when you're approaching the age of marriage and you have all these ajummas asking you if you have a fiance.

South Korea needs some strong women to break this cycle.

korean women were always abnormally beautiful. That is why koreans are crazy with beauty, cuz there are the supreme hot ones and those who arent are caught up with inferiority complex. In fact it is quite a cultural thing as koreans were always obsessed with aesthetic beauty, cleanliness and hygene.
In the near future, pretty much the rest of the developed world will be deep in plastic surgery, as media indicates that beauty is success.

But yea, this makes me think thats why the average number of attractive women in korea is so high, its basically widening the percentage of attractive women, doesnt exactly mean they're aren't any from the start but still I dont know 50% seems really high, $hit I just gone through 3 videos documenting north korea and theres a number of older teens who I found attractive , do they do plastic surgery? excess of anything is bad

can anyone who really knows anything on this confirm? I dont' trust the article word from word becuase its written by a english guy.

And I guess the women in HK and Tawain are more fake b/c they have DOUBLE the rate of plastic surgery of SK.

Plus, plastic surgery can't ever make ugly people good looking - they always look a little "wierd". If you are attractive and simply have a flaw on a particular area, that's where ps can help.

anyways it's very uncredible...
similar to chinese medias saying 90% of koreans got surgery...but thanks to them korea was depicted as a plastic surgery heaven in Asian Times...probably that got to U.K. as well...
didn't they say something similar to this in the U.S., in Oparah Winfrey show?

well i think you exaggerated. just in case you didn't know, there are way more dedicated students in korea compared to other countries. korean students are still known for the educational standard and enthusiasm. that is also how many foreigners repute us. those 'gongjubyung' insecure girls are everywhere. and when exactly were you in Korea? because teenagers' interest in beauty wasn't so extreme like this only a couple of years ago.

I didn't mean that students don't concentrate on their studies because they're trying to look nice. Not at all. I'm very much aware of how arduously Korean students study. I meant that even at an age where I should have only felt the pressure to do well in school, I was already feeling that intense pressure to look a certain way. And I say that the pressure increases as you approach the age of marriage because I kept in touch with some girl friends in Seoul and these days they're all obsessed with looking pretty and getting married, having their mothers' friends trying to play matchmaker, etc. Many of them do think about getting plastic surgery, and some of them did. I tried to talk one of them out of it but she said that I don't understand how bad the pressure is. Some of these girls received top notch American educations, and this is what they are forced to fret about. Sad.

i see. i misunderstood what you meant. anyways i don't think we are pressed to look good. it should be the teenagers' insane concern about their exterior.

well i should admit quite this abnormal tendency of superficiality in this society gives them high pressure, but i don't think it's the pressure. i think it's the problem they have. they are hysterically desperate to get hot guys if they do it for their marriage.

Those numbers are exagerated abit. But truthfully Korea still is the highest on earth in numbers for surgeries anways.
