Has anyone else seen this Michael Mann '04 movie about a hitman (Tom Cruise) who takes hostage a taxi driver (Jamie Foxx) to drive him a long and help him with his killing sprees? I just saw this on dvd and must say it's one of my favs. The story, casting, acting, soundtrack, setting and photography that captured the exciting essence of LA was all very well done.... You guys who live in LA are lucky..... it might be interesting to note here also there is a small "Koreatown backstory" to it as well but towards the end.

I lived in downtown for about 6 months and it definitely gives me that feel of downtown LA. Not all that crazy killing. Just the driving scenes and music.

This is my favorite scene of the movie

Tom Cruise was a real badass in this movie

But I find it odd that Jamie Foxx got an Academy Award nod for his role here

Odd that, while it is a good performance, being nominated may be stretching it and hell, it's an action film

Academy is usually biased against action films

You don't buy cheap dvds that you haven't seen before because having read the summary on the back you're under the misguided impression that the film will be good? Ok then crazy.gif
