well, the west (USA wants to be the leader), so do you think it's possible to let USA just lead while china just follow. basically do what japan does? will that bring more benefit or counterproductive? what your opinion on this matter?

America will always lead, despite China growing into an economic superpower. People have this notion that China will be looked up to and will produce the best, but realistically speaking China is an immature country in many areas (education, human rights, scientific research, literature, just to name a few) despite their uprising, and they still need to fix these things or at least put attention on these things before China can be considered a leader of anything in this world. If you look at the countries that are on top and countries that are respected; U.S.A., Japan, Germany, Sweden, France - they excel in all fields. This lets us know that it takes more than being economically fit to be admired and to be seen as a country that leads the rest. Only when China tends to these faults and fixes the inner damages will China actually be respected and not just considered.

We shouldn't care about who leads, or what the West does and thinks. Make peace with all and do our own thing.

Japan's situation is different not like they had a choice and Japan is a small state. Since the day she lost the war to the West(USA) they placed strict control over her. Not much Japan could have/can do. Japan practically have to kneel down to every request from the West(USA) whether they like it or not. You think Japan would allow it if they weren't under such position? I doubt it.

Um...why the hostility?

If you have a better idea, other than "cut the earth in two", please share it.

Including being a member of the Coalition of the "Willing". I'd like to see ReginaRae rationalize the morally supperior wests' rape of Iraq for its oil reserve. How many innocent civilians have died since? Perhaps ReginaRae can provide us with the number since she is such a know-it-all. But wait. Nobody really knows because of the occassional black out of media freedom once every so often an "unfortunate" event occurs. While shes at it, perhaps she can also detail the situation at Guantanamo bay detention centre. We are still waiting for full disclosure of the Abu Graib incident.

Interesting fact: China is officially a "police state" despite having a per-capita police-to-civilian ratio that is half of the worlds average. USA on the other hand is the "land of the free" despite having by FAR the worlds largest inmate population. Made up of some 80% of people of "color".

US should give up their leadership to the rest of the world.

Let the people of earth decide the fate of humanity.

And the balance of the world must be restored.

Unchecked US and NATO is very very dangerous, as it already proven in Libya, Iraq, Palestine and now Syria.

The Chinese hemisphere is in Asia. It doesn't really compete against the US in the US's own domain. China is able to expand in South America and Africa primarily because these areas were neglected by the United States. When the United States was busy dealing with the Middle East and Afghan, China was making strong inroads in South and East Asia. It produces more deals with these countries than the United States produces. In this sense, China has been using able to flex its diplomatic muscle, proximity, muslim-friendly image (many SEA countries have large Muslim populations) and of course its economy.

China has done well so far, but China needs to realize that you can lose soft power faster than you develop it. The conflicts over the Spratleys, for example, severely damaged China's reputation in SEA. You could say it's China's Iraq. If China wants to defeat the United States in Asia, it can only do so through the battle of ideas and "winning hearts and minds".

China still has some way to go, and I don't feel that China should follow. China is still a sleeping dragon with a lot of potential. A developing country that already rivals the achievements of developed countries. China just needs a few more decades.

I think you have a misconception of the U.S being a leader of the "free" world. I'd say it's more like the enslaver of the third world. It isn't really American people that are the problem, or even capitalism, but what capitalism has turned into.

Anyways here's a funny interpretation of the way some analyze China.
QUOTE
So to sum things up:

1. China is currently the most significant competitor to the US.

2. The reason why the US is losing ground to the Chinese is that the US government is too heavy handed in the private sector.

3. China’s government also interferes in its economy, but for them it is a strength.

4. But the US will succeed in the future by eliminating government interference in the economy, allowing companies to be creative and flourish.

And IMO yes of course the west and China can coexist if we focus on progress, not greed.

Back in 2011 I knew it Syria would be the next one on the take out list for the West.
