mainland chinese may be emotional, but they are practicial too. they would not invest billions into something that does not have a profitable return.

The PRC is doing that. Its not planning to invade the ROC anytime soon. It passed the anti-secession law to show what consequences there might be.

you know, there are a lot of people in taiwan that wish for independence. many of them have been to china and been appalled at what they saw. are you saying they have no reason to feel this way? are they simply being traitors out of spite? what do you propose should happen to them?
