Wow, congratulations, Jac! (though there's a slim chance she might be browsing through this forum)
My sister said there was this singer (I am not sure who), who made a comment about Jac (something like this), "She has a very good voice. She's not a human, she's a mutant." Woo...Siti's been invited as the guest judge too. She seems to be a dominant figure in Malaysia's entertainment industry. ^___~ I'm glad though that Malaysian Idol received a very good response from the public. I guess it indirectly instills a national pride in the contestants' heart, and it might be stronger when our Malaysian Idol would've to compete for the World Idol. By the way, did you know that Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian is a Malaysian-born singer? It's a good thing to learn he still has this passion for nasi lemak. ^__^ |

^^ It really bodes well for Malaysian younger generation where race is becoming less and less of an issue in instilling a sense of unity.
It'd be great to see a duet between Guy and Jaclyn, wouldn't it? I think Guy's dad was a Malaysian of Ceylonese descent. Multicultural or what, huh! This post has been edited by malaccan: Oct 14 2004, 06:56 AM |

Indeed. It's like one big rojak family.
Woah! A duet between Guy Sebastian and Jac? Ha ha...yep, great idea! By the way, malaccan : Is that the 8 TV symbol on the upper left side of the screen? I love 8 TV commercials. Gary is deeply amusing. |

^^ Yup, it's the 8TV logo. Do you guys get Channel 9 in Kuching? For the last 2/3 year, it seems to me like everytime I head home, there seems to be yet another private tv channel in the pipelines. Bring it on, the more the merrier. But we still need more satellite tv providers.
Anyway, CrysD likes Gary, eh ? |

But I am not too sure, since I don't tune in to 8TV or Channel 9. As for Astro...well...popularity seems to be going down the low lane... *cough* I just think that Gary is amusing. -_- |

QUOTE love Syarifah Aleya , syarifah name also used widely by riau malay female from syed father. i can tell there are so much pride in her. there are so much in common between riau malay and malay in peninsular either the name system and the way they look and the way they express their mind. i guess with my background as riau malay i can be easily understrood by malay in peninsular than javanese or sundanese which sometimes they make fun of me when i am talking to them they said i am 'orang daerah' (outsider). worst thing everytime i am visiting bali they thought i am malaysian bcoz of my malay dialect and try to double charge me until i am telling nthem i am from sumatra riau but they still not believe me until i was showing my ktp (id). Actually, the Syed (for male) & Syarifah (for female) are believed to be Malay descendants of Arabs. They tend to be exclusive in names, but mostly Syeds & Syarifahs did display similarities to their Arab ancestors, but they still remain Malay first. Speaking of Malay Riau, the official Malay language used in Malaysia are of Johor-Riau variety. If you could watch our Malaysian news, you'll notice the similarities..... |

Beside about Syed and Syarifah name, Malay in Riau also using Tengku, Raja, Encik in front of their name but not all of them though, only some of them but its quite interesting bcoz in Riau there are a lot of Malay kingdom at that time but now the kingdom palace mostly vanish. We can tell Riau Lingga palace no longer there, Indragiri kingdom palace is not there anymore. the only still survive is Siak kingdom palace. but those folk who heritage the blood descend still proudly maintain their identity.
Now Malay in Riau start looking for their true identity after their root was being eliminate by dutch after the dutch invason into riau and jambi. It is very similar in fact the langugae between Malay Riau and Malay in peninsula. people in Riau can get TV3, RTM1, RTM2 and RTM2 in Riau and there are no barrier to understand them. Johor-Riau kingdom is one big kingdom at those time periode. |

Yep .... as sympathy votes counts. Frankly speaking, its the TV viewers that holds the trump cards as they're the ones voting all these wannabe popstars. And thankfully they choose wisely .... Jac deserved to win! |

Was there any controversy like Indonesian Idol had?? Where Delon (the 2nd place winner) was going to the final round with sympathy votes.

I like Jaclyn coz her voice is sooooo powerful. She can sing as good or better than Fantasia Barrino. When I watch Jaclyn and Dina performed "I Believe I Can Fly", man...Jaclyn's voice is superb. She's a diva and she's truly an idol.
