WORLD NUMBER ONE RAFAEL NADAL PERFORMS BUDDHIST CEREMONY AT LUXURIOUS HUA HIN RESORT

World number one tennis player and three-time 2010 grand slam winner, Rafael Nadal, participated in an ancient Thai Buddhist ritual by presenting alms to monks on the beach during his recent stay at the luxurious InterContinental Hua Hin Resort.

Nadal elected to stay in the resort's La Résidence Royale Hua Hin presidential villa and happily led the ceremony on the beach right outside his room in the lead up to the property's official opening in November.

The champion player is in the country for the Thailand Open and took the time in Hua Hin to rest and recuperate in a relaxing, yet opulent, environment after a stellar year that has so far yielded the US and French Opens and Wimbledon.

"Thailand is a beautiful country and taking part in this ceremony on the beach in Hua Hin with the monks has been a special part of my trip so far," Mr Nadal said.

"Taking the time to come here after winning the US Open was a great decision while learning more about Hua Hin and Thailand's hospitable culture and the importance of these ceremonies."

La Résidence Royale Hua Hin is a restored 19th century period standalone house set on half an acre personifying elegance and regal living. The building has two stylish bedrooms furnished with local art and Thai design with large en-suite marble-finished bathrooms, separate living and dining areas, a spacious garden, infinity pool and full-time live in personal butler on call 24-hours a day.

The luxurious 119-room InterContinental Hua Hin Resort is located two and a half hours by road from Bangkok, or 35-minutes by the property's private aircraft.

Do not mistaken Thailand for Lao, Middle class in Thailand can afford to go to any hotel in their country. Unlike high end resorts in Lao that only Farang can afford to go.

What so sad is the revenue from those farang tourist goes to Farang resort owners. And nothing left for Local people since no high end resorts in Lao are owned by Laotian.

How many resorts of 5 star standard are owned by Thais and how many are owned by Jek Thais??? Please enlighten me??? Thai middle class?? Whats the average wage for thai middle class? Yep about 10 and if lucky 15000 baht per month. Oh yeah about one night in a top notch hotel. An Australian bricklayer earns this money in 2 days. I dont want to even speculate how much Jek building bosses pay their poor Thai Burmese bricklayers.

Bangkok named World’s Best City 2010 by leading travel magazine

NEW YORK, July 22 (TNA) - Representing Thailand’s capital and receiving an award naming the Thai capital by Travel + Leisure magazine as the World’s Best City 2010 in a survey conducted among its readers, Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra is the highest profile ambassador for normality to have hit the Big Apple since the Big Mango’s days of blazes and bombs in May.

Ranked top in both the World and Asia, scoring 90.30, Bangkok shot to the top of the reader survey based on an earlier time frame, followed by Thailand’s northern city of Chiang Mai.

Thailand’s Samui Island and Phuket Island in the South were ranked fourth and the fifth respectively among Best Islands in Asia.

At a glittering ceremony at Manhattan’s Trump Soho Hotel, Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand met Travel + Leisure editor-in-chief Nancy Novgorod, which carried out the survey.

Ms Novgorod praised the beauty of Bangkok and Thailand in their natural and cultural aspects.

She expressed sorrow over the recent turmoil but recovery would come soon and that she would visit Bangkok again.

Gov Sukhumbhand was delighted on behalf of Bangkok residents and the Thai people for the award as they put their efforts together to continue to make Bangkok the world’s best city for living and travelling.

The Bangkok governor called for the City of Angels citizenry to continue its traditional hospitality in welcoming tourists and said he would push forward to develop the city to be the World’s best city for tourism.

“Tourists are our guests. We must help them to enjoy staying in Bangkok safely,” he said.

ศูนย์ข่าวศรีราชา -เมืองพัทยาเตรียมปฐมนิเทศโครงการก่อสร้างรถไฟฟ้าโมโนเรลต่อประชาชน 6 สิงหาคม 2553 นี้ หลังคณะกรรมการที่ปรึกษาโครงการศึกษาข้อมูลแล้วเสร็จ พร้อมนำเสนอสู่สาธารณชนเปิดรับฟังความคิดเห็นผลดี-ผลเสีย ก่อนสรุปในเดือนกันยายนนี้ด้วยเช่นกัน




วันนี้ (3 ส.ค.) นายอิทธิพล คุณปลื้ม นายกเมืองพัทยา เป็นประธานรับฟังข้อมูลการศึกษาโครงการก่อสร้างรถไฟฟ้าโมโนเรลพัทยา โดยมีคณะกรรมการที่ปรึกษาโครงการร่วมนำเสนอข้อมูลที่ห้องประชุมศาลาว่าการเมืองพัทยา จ.ชลบุรี

ทั้งนี้ ในที่ประชุมได้มีการนำเสนอข้อมูลการศึกษาความเป็นมาของโครงการในภาพรวม รวมถึงรายละเอียดปลีกย่อยการปรับปรุงด้านต่างๆ ทั้งในส่วนของเส้นทางการเดินทาง และผลกระทบเรื่องสิ่งแวดล้อมเพื่อเตรียมความพร้อมนำเสนอต่อประชาชนในการปฐมนิเทศโครงการดังกล่าวที่กำหนดจัดขึ้นวันที่ 6 สิงหาคม 2553 ที่จะถึงนี้ ที่ศาลาว่าการเมืองพัทยา โดยเปิดให้ประชาชน รวมถึงตัวแทนทุกภาคส่วนเข้ามามีส่วนร่วมในการนำเสนอข้อมูลอันเป็นประโยชน์ในแนวทางการก่อสร้างโครงการดังกล่าวต่อไปในอนาคต

นายอิทธิพล เผยว่า ขณะนี้คณะที่ปรึกษาได้ศึกษาโครงการมีความคืบหน้า และมีความพร้อม โดยจะนำเสนอรายละเอียดของโครงการทั้งหมดต่อประชาชนและสาธารณชนในวันปฐมนิเทศโครงการที่จะถึงเร็วๆ นี้ ก่อนจะการรวบรวมข้อมูลจากการจัดสัมมนากลุ่มย่อย และการประชุมการมีส่วนร่วม ซึ่งจะได้ผลสรุปที่ชัดเจนในเดือนกันยายนที่จะถึงนี้เช่นกัน

อย่างไรก็ตาม สำหรับโครงการรถไฟฟ้าความเร็วสูงที่ทางรัฐบาลจะดำเนินการก่อสร้างมายังจังหวัดระยองนั้น เมืองพัทยาได้ทำในส่วนของท้องถิ่นซึ่งมีการศึกษาความเป็นไปได้ของความหนาแน่นของการจราจรในอนาคตของเมืองพัทยา โดยจะประสานข้อมูลร่วมกับโครงข่ายขนส่งมวลชนถนนสุขุมวิท ซึ่งสามารถรองรับโครงการของรัฐบาลได้ด้วยเช่นกัน โดยจะดำเนินการในสายหลักของเมืองพัทยาคือเฟสที่ 1 สายสีแดง (ถนนพัทยาสาย 2) ก่อนพิจารณาสายอื่นๆ ที่มีความเหมาะสมในเฟสต่อไป

พัทยาตั้งแต่เป็นเขตปกครองพิเศษเจริญแบบก้าวกระโดดมากๆ ช่วงเสาร์ อาทิตย์ คนกทม.จะไปเที่ยวเยอะจนรถติดยาว

พระประทุมวรราชสุริยวงศ์ (เจ้าคำผง) เป็นบุตรของเจ้าพระตาและนางบุศดี

ในปี พ.ศ.2311 เจ้าพระตากับเจ้าพระวอ เกิดผิดใจกันกับพระเจ้าสิริบุญสารแห่งเวียงจันทน์ ได้ยกทัพมาตีเมืองหนองบัวลุ่มภู ต่อสู้กันอยู่ 3 ปี ฝ่ายเวียงจันทน์แพ้สงคราม จึงไปขอกองทัพจากพม่าที่เชียงใหม่ กองทัพพม่าได้ยกมาสมทบกับกองทัพเวียงจันทน์ ยกมาตีเมืองหนองบัวลุ่มภูแตก เจ้าพระตาตายในสนามรบ เจ้าพระวอกับเจ้าคำผงและพวก ทิ้งเมืองหนีไปทางทิศตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ จนได้ไปอาศัยพระเจ้าองค์หลวงไชยกุมารแห่งนครจำปาศักดิ์ ได้ไปตั้งค่ายอยู่บ้านดู่บ้านแก แขวงเมทืองจำปาศักดิ์ พระเจ้าองค์หลวงไชยกุมาร ได้ขอเอาเจ้านางตุ่ยให้เป็นเทวีแก่เจ้าคำผง และพระราชทานแต่งตั้งให้เจ้าคำผงเป็น พระปทุมสุรราช ผู้ช่วยเจ้าพระวอ นายกองนอก
พระเจ้าสิริบุญสาร ได้ทราบว่า เจ้าพระวอกับพวกมาตั้งอยู่ที่ค่ายบ้านดู่บ้านแก แขวงเมืองนครจำปาศักดิ์ และเจ้าพระวอมีกำลังพลน้อย จึงให้เพียสุโพ ยกทัพมาตีค่ายบ้านดู่บ้านแกแตก ฆ่าเจ้าพระวอตาย พระปทุมสุรราช (เจ้าคำผง) จึงขอพึ่งพระบรมโพธิสมภารพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรี พระองค์โปรดให้เจ้าพระยาจักรีและเจ้าพระยาสุรสีห์ยกทัพมาช่วย เมื่อทราบสาเหตุจากพระปทุมสุรราชแล้ว จึงยกทัพตามตีทัพเพียสุโพไปจนถึงเวียงจันทน์ ได้รบกันอยู่ 4 เดือน ตีเวียงจันทน์แตกเมื่อ พ.ศ.2318 ต่อมาพระปทุมสุรรราช ขออพยพมาอยู่ดอนมดแดง ในปี พ.ศ.2319 น้ำท่วมใหญ่ท่วมดอนมดแดง จึงอพยพหนีน้ำมาอยู่ที่ดอนริมห้วยแจระแม เมื่อน้ำลดจึงสร้างดงอู่ผึ้งริมแม่น้ำมูลสร้างเป็นเมือง

สร้างเมืองอยู่ 7 ปี จึงแล้วเสร็จ มีใบบอกลงไปกราบทูลพระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรีขอตั้งเป็นเมืองอุบล พระเจ้ากรุงธนบุรีให้ตั้งเมืองตามที่ขอไป โรดให้พระปทุมสุรรราชเป็น พระปทุมราชววงศา (เจ้าคำผง) เจ้าเมืองอุบลองค์แรกเมื่อ พ.ศ.2321 ต่อมาเมื่อช่วยปราบกบฏอ้ายเชียงแก้วได้ พระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธยอดฟ้าจุฬาโลก จึงโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้พระประทุมราชวงศา เป็น พระประทุมวรราชสุริยวงศ์ (เจ้าคำผง) และเสริมนามเมืองอุบลขึ้นเป็น เมืองอุบลรธานีศรวนาไลประเทศราช เมื่อวันจันทร์ แรม 13 ค่ำเดือน 8 จุลศักดิ์ราช 1154 (พ.ศ.2335)

พระประทุมวรราชสุริยวงศ์ครองเมืองอุบลราชธานีมาตั้งแต่ตั้งเมืองมา เป็นเวลา 17 ปี ถึง พ.ศ.2338 ได้ถึงแก่อนิจกรรม รวมสิริอายุได้ 85 ปี มีการทำศพเมรุนกสักกะไดลิงก์ เผาที่ทุ่งศรีเมือง แล้วเก็บอัฐิบรรจุธาตุไว้ทางทิศตะวันตกเฉียงใต้ของเมือง บริเวณที่เป็นธนาคารออมสิน สาขาอุบลฯ นำอัฐิไปไว้วัดหลวง และยังอยู่จนปัจจุบัน

คุณตาบำเพ็ญ ณ อุบล (ท้าวดอกหมาก) หรือบางคนเรียนท่านว่า ท่านอัยการบำเพ็ญ เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 8 ตุลาคม พ.ศ.2469 ณ บ้านคุ้มหลวง อ.เมือง จ.อุบลราชธานี เป็นบุตรของนายปราง (ท้าวบุญมุง)และนางพริก ณ อุบล (ทองพิทักษ์) นับว่าเป็นผู้สืบเชื้อสายมาจากตระกูลเจ้านายเมืองอุบลโดยตรง ในวัยเด็กท่านได้ใกล้ชิดกับปู่ย่าตายาย ซึ่งเป็นผู้สืบเชื้อสายอาญาสี่ หรือเจ้าเมืองอุบลในอดีต ทำให้ท่านได้ซึมซับรับรู้ประวัติศาสตร์ องค์ความรู้ของบรรพชนเอาไว้อย่างเต็มเปี่ยม

MISS BELGIUM PAGEANT CONTESTANTS OPT FOR REPEAT VISIT TO THAILAND


Bangkok, November 4, 2010 — Sixteen contestants in the Miss Belgium 2011 Beauty Contest are to re-visit Thailand, Khao Lak, and Phang Nga during 22-29 November, 2010, as part of efforts by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to generate publicity and attract more visitors from Belgium and other countries of the European Union.

The TAT Paris office together with BEST Tours, a major Belgian tour operator, won the support of the organizer of the annual beauty pageant to select Phang Nga as the backdrop destination for the various fashion and other film-shoots featured in the widely-watched TV event.

The contestants, along with organizers and accompanying media members, will travel to Phuket by XL Airways, a charter flight operating from Brussels to Phuket.

Belgium is one the major sources of visitors from Europe. In 2009, the arrivals from Belgium totalled 80,376 up 5.57% over 2008. In January – September 2010, Belgian visitor arrivals to Thailand at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport totalled 56,813, up 1.36% over the same period of 2009.

In November 2009, the TAT Paris Office agreed to sponsor the Miss Belgium 2010 Pageant, using Phuket as a backdrop destination. Upon visiting Thailand earlier this year, the contestants, event organizers, and accompanying members of the Belgian media were so impressed by the warm hospitality of the Thai people, beautiful tourist attractions, and professionalism of the Thai support staff that the management team of the Miss Belgium 2011 Contest again chose Thailand as a backdrop destination.

This year, TAT will organise both beach and ecotourism activities; such as, visiting the Similan Islands, Phang Nga National Park, and Phi Phi Island. The contestants will also be filmed participating in some activities like rafting, canoeing, etc.

On 18 October, 2010, Mr Pisal Manwapat, Thai Ambassador to Brussels, together with the Director of the TAT Paris Office, Mrs Pattaraporn Sithivanich and Mrs Darline Devos, Chairwoman of Miss Belgium Contest attended the press conference of the Miss Belgium 2011, organized by the Miss Belgique 2011 Company in Dworp city.

The event was attended by over 300 participants, including media, politicians, designers, movie stars, and executives from major sponsors of Miss Belgium 2011. A fashion show by the Miss Belgium 2011 contestants saw them on the cat-walk carrying traditional North Thailand umbrellas, followed by a Thai classical dance with the theme of the Loi Krathong Festival, which was widely covered by hundreds of media.

Thailand, particularly Phang Nga, will get widespread media coverage via the Miss Belgium 2011 Pageant for at least 1-2 months before and after the finals. The Pageant is expected to be promoted and broadcast by TV Channel Club RTL and RTL TVI in French and VT4 Station in Flemish.

The final round of the Pageant will be held in Knokke town, a major beach attraction in Belgium. On 9 January, 2011, it will be broadcast on VT4 Channel and RTL Channel during the prime time 20.10 - 23.30 hrs with a projected viewership of over 1 million in Belgium, Luxemburg, north of France, and surrounding countries.

Mrs Pattaraporn said, “The repeat visit by the Belgium 2011 contestants will generate publicity of Thailand’s good image and attract more visitors from Belgium and those countries of the European Union which use French and Dutch as their official languages. It will also encourage women and youth, the jet-set group, honeymooners, and family travellers to visit Thailand.”
