Does anyone here watch or like Korean animation?
Wonderful days is a great animation film.(opened in Korea during July) I think Korean animation is slowly catching up with Japanese animation. This post has been edited by Florenze: Dec 25 2003, 08:44 AM |

QUOTE I think Korean animation is slowly catching up with Japanese animation. what the hell you talking about-- "slowly" that thing was CRAZY-- They physically built miniature sets, composited and camera matched them to traditional cell animation. They combined and compositied 3-d, livea action (if you consider the physical sets live action) and tradtitional animation-- plus they enhanced the color of the cells -- not your usual "Animo" (a program used for cartoon coloring)-- it was more like how "Blood the Last Vampire" was digitally enhanced with lighting and color. That thing was BEAUTIFUL.-- but unfortunately it had little story. It had the usual Fritz Lang "Metropolis" story. Conflict between the oppressed and aristocratic-- but a someone from an aristocrat joins the opressed and changes everything. I haven't seen a lot of Korean sci-fi/fantasy, the only other Korean films I've seen are some of "Masa the Warrior" (I think that's what its called--the one with the chick from Crouching Tiger and Hero) and "Volcano High". And Volcano High's story didn't impress me either-- but the look of it did- the special effects--the lighting--the way the characters are introduced-- the way the main character could look ultra cool with this pissed off look on his face and then suddenly change his expression into goofiness. But no story. Can u suggest to me a good Korean fantasy film? Like sci-fi or action or even horror. I mean-- where it has a good story. Or even a good artsy korean flick. |

Wonderful Days QUOTE QUOTE I think Korean animation is slowly catching up with Japanese animation. what the hell you talking about-- "slowly" Okie, I think it'd better to say that Korean animation is slowly becoming more popular. Good Korean horror flicks? There's 'A Tale of Two Sisters' and one called 'Wishing Stairs' |

I agree with Elan....what the heck are you saying? Koreans ARE animation haha. Koreans do the animation for mostly all animes and american cartoons. Speaking of korean horror flicks...Tale of Two Sisters was pretty good...but Wishing Stairs...that movie was just flat out stupid and not scary.
Koreans aren't really anime-making people but more like Animated-movie making people. They should seriously consider doing anime though. Korean manhwa is very good and itll be cool to see them animated. |

QUOTE MUSA (korean and chinese collaboration feat zhyang zhyi) Oh Musa was pretty good! i thought it was really cool how Koreans and Chinese collaborated on it, and how the composer was the guy who did the music for Evangelieon. |

I have never seen Korean animation before. But I'm wondering if it is similar to Japanese ones. Like with the unnaturally massive eyes drawn in the shape of a hyperbola and a line at the base, a small triangular nose and a tiny little mouth? Also what is the major difference between Korean animation and Japanese?

Well I haven't seen any except for one in a music video... and I don't think that counts.
