It is because in ASia women's only VALUE and SENSE is her beauty. Men are only focus on women's looks not her intellect or strength. In korea, women are like "flowers" in the workplace. Women have to look beautiful to marry a rich guy who can buy her cltohes and house. Women are dependent on MEN all throughout her life. She mostly depend on her looks. This is still the prevailing attitude in Asian societies. This is sad, I hope ASian women awake and relialize this.

Yes, Korean people have nice skin and you can see that most of them don't wear glasses where in China everyone does...well the reason is. In korea when babies are born they start drink ginseng or sumthing. Ginseng is good for the eyes and skin thats why most korean people have white skin and doesn't wear glasses

uhhh...they don't feed babies ginseng. Hell I love ginseng and my mom wouldn't even let me drink it steadily til I was 21 lol. Ginseng is thought of as an anti-aging type of drink lol.

Yea...I posted a link earlier and we don't even rank top 10 for plastic surgery for the # of people out of the whole population. We're like 35th lol and 10th for amount compared to the world...I hate this generalization. Korean girls don't need surgery to be pretty :P

Oh man...my mom expects me to be married in the next 3-4yrs (24-25). She's got it all planned out. She doesn't care when my sister gets married though. Think it's mainly cause she's going into med school lol. She just tells her to eventually get married and that she doesn't care cause when she gets married she's part of "his" family now lol.

i dont think young korean girls are that attractive. i do think that when they hit a certain age (between 30-45), they look so graceful. i have a few korean friends. they dont look great but their moms' do look....not sexy...but very classy. i like that.

Korean women are UGLY!!! They are ugly because they are FAKE! Many in the pics here - celebrities and ordinary people - look hideous. I would say 90% of them (in the pics here at least) have had eye surgery done. They have unnatural-looking cow eyes that are staring - they look scary and weird.

The only pretty ones are the ones who have had nothing done to their eyes. It is very sad as I don't live in Korea and I didn't know what they looked like in Korea until I came to websites like these. I had no idea how widespread the surgery is.

Korean women are not beautiful - they are plastic-looking and many ruin their looks by having surgery to their eyes very young. It looks unnatural and ugly to make your eyes look Western when they were never meant to be. I hate this surgery craze in South Korea and I wish people would stop having things done to their eyes.

Mongolian eyes are the prettiest and double lids only look good on Westerners (as they have the face to suit them).

I have double lids and I wish I had single lids. The prettiest Korean girls I have seen have had no surgery to their eyes and have single lids. Nobody who has had surgery looks pretty to me - they look plain weird like they are staring all the time.

I'm sure there are/were many beautiful Korean girls in Korea as there are many beautiful girls of all nationalities (yes, I am not one of them), but surgery is ruining the looks of many and in Korea because so many people have surgery (celebrities and non-celebrities), Korea is turning into a nation of ugly scary-looking bug-eyed women.... which (before this hideous craze) was not the case.

I have seen a few Korean girls who are stunning but they are all youngish and have had no surgery (yet) - I imagine they are becoming a rarer breed in Korea.

I worked with a Korean girl who I thought looked beautiful - on closer looking I noticed she had eye surgery - and I felt turned off and no longer thought she was pretty.

The Asian eye is not suited for the double lid. The Asian (Mongolian type) eye looks bug-eyed when it is operated on for the double lid. Caucasians have differently shaped eyes, not so almond shaped and less fat in their lids so the double fold looks completey different on them.

lol....you won't find many koreans looking like that. And asians do look good naturally with double eyelids. My sister has them and they're very suited to her face. You don't even really notice them...if you have surgery you'll notice a difference between them and natural double eyelids.

Oh yea...their eyes are not big cause they've been "operated" on. The double eyelid surgery will not make ur eyes look like that lol. I had a viet friend who got them and her eyes are still small and almond shape. There is also a reason why Miss Korea looks like they all have the same features and I think that explanation would be simple if you take 1sec to ponder lol. Hell look at other "asians" who got the double eyelid surgery...they're not big eyed. If that happened you'd notice every asian not having the chinesey eyes after surgery.

3rd and getting tired of posting this...ROK ranks 34th out of 54th in per capita of people taking plastic surgery. They rank 10th for overall procedures in the world...

Although I do think it's not necessary to get the eyelid surgery it's something some people view as "beautiful". The thing I hate most is the procedures on lips you see on the korean celebrities. Watch any korean drama and you'll notice half of them have it.

There are many girls like that in all these threads where Korean women's photos are shown. 90-100% of female celebrities have had their eyes done. And it's increasing and done more and more on younger women and even on young teenage girls. I have never seen a freak show like that for a long time.

That figure you quote is quite high and especially when you take into account that in the West people have surgery for boobs, lips and other stuff like that and not so much for eye surgery whereas in Korea the majority would be for eye surgery (I'm assuming).

The US and other Western countries have a longer history of having plastic surgery too, the US is a bigger country too and richer so the figure would be expected to be higher for the US and similar countries.

Double lids look OK on the people who have them naturally - they tend not to look bug-eyed like the ones who have had the operation. But the majority of Korean people do not have double lids and staring eyes - Korea is well-known to have people with the Mongolian eyes - eyes that have no double lids. Chinese people have more double lidded people especially people from the southern parts, Korea is a more homogenous country than China. They look like the northern Chinese people, the Mongolian people and Tibetans. Koreans are looking more like the Southern Chinese and Malay people or like weird people that do not exist anywhere in the world.

Going by the photos here - of celebrities and of ORDINARY people who send their photos through webcams - it looks like Korea has turned into a race where the females have double lidded unattractive eyes.

The sad thing is that people in Korea think that the staring cow eyes are beautiful and can turn an ordinary person into a star or a model or a Miss Korea. They should look at some medical textbooks of people with thyroid conditions and see that that look is not beautiful at all. But they do and that's why the K pop stars and actresses are considered beautiful because their eyes have been changed. It is a real blindness. I live in a Western country and I see Western eyes all the time. They do not look anything like Korean eyes that have been done to have double eyelids - Westerners have deep-set eyes, different brows, and their eyelids are different in shape, not to mention their eyes are a completey different shape to the Asian one. Some Westerners have nice eyes and some Asians have nice eyes though the typical Asian eyes and Caucasian eyes are different.

Korean (and other Asian) people can look beautiful but only when they try and look like what they are, not like something they are not. Even too much makeup on eyes to make them look bigger is unattractive in my opinion. Natural is best wherever in the world - in Asia or the West.

Big bug eyes does not equal beauty (in fact they are only suited to bugs not humans); having 'small' single-lidded eyes does not equal ugly at all. See the girl above at the top - she has eyes that are 'smallish' (they are actually not small but appear small because they are not deep-set or double-lidded like Western eyes) and she is the best-looking girl in that thread of Korean girls. She also does not put on lashings of thick black mascara or unnaturally long eyelashes and does not put lots of face makeup or eye shadow on and she did not do anything funny to her lips. In the West she would be considered very beautiful although she does not look Western at all. Koreans may think she does not look Western enough with her 'small' eyes and consider BoA or Hyori to be the models of good looks but not people like her. It's sad when Westerners appreciate natural Asian beauty more than the Asians do and not just because it is an exotic look (beautiful is beautiful anywhere and ugly is ugly anywhere too)

I guess you ignored the other link where it showed we don't even rank top 25 for the per capita of people getting it? And those countries you list above are above ROK for the # of people who get it per 1000 people.

If you can't at least speak korean you don't watch or view any korean movies/tv shows. Most likely you don't even watch the ones with eng subs. How exactly would you know how korea was going by this site? I mean the Miss Korea represents the fraction of koreans who want to become known.
