It's due to squatting and sitting on floors for prolong period of time. Koreans also sit and squat on the floor a lot just like Japanese (ie no furniture or chairs). But, they have longer legs due to intermixture with the northern Han Chinese.

 I'm a size 7 and it's only been recently that I could find shoes in Japan that come large enough to fit my feet  My grandmother had the same size foot as I did and needed to get all her shoes specially made to be large enough

Not sure about everyday Japanese women, but I have noticed that celebs like the girl above and Mika Nakashima do have some big feet (and hands). And they're short at the same time too...But then again, Kyoko Fukada doesn't.

my feet are like the smallest EVER i have trouble finding shoes that fit since all the white people over here are so big , i always have to look in the childrens aisle LOL
same with clothes.... they are all made for big people
