Because I dont like it when people try to claim us,if you know what I mean.Its basically what Crossbowman said.People are more interested in Chinese so they dont care that mongolians and seaians probably have more mixed blood in the them.The result is people start to claim chinese who have stereotypically NEA features as Mongolian mixed,and chinese with sterotypically SEA featurea as vietnamese mixed or something.They dont care what their real heritages are,all they care is what stereotypes people's features fit in.Like what happened with Xi and Lin.I mean Lin doesnt even look australoid people are claiming him.And Xi looks just like an ordinary Han chinese.Do people care to study their real family history?No,they just look at their faces and decide.

It's just like white guys who say Sparta!!! when they are drunk. They aren't Greek or in college, but they still do it. Features like genes among Asians are overlapping. There can be Chinese people who pass for SEA...Bolo Yeung etc. and vice versa. The further north and south you get the less overlapping.

Lin is cool to me because not only because of his game, but because he's an Asian dude from the Bay Area. You will never see any SEA try to claim Lin IRL they will get laughed at, but many may relate to him. You might see a Viet guy just for example wear a Lin jersey. A lot of white guys who aren't German like Nowitzki. A lot of guys who aren't Spanish like Gasol and Rubio same principle.
