What is with the excitement? The man is no difference from the rest of
the Khmer Rouge victims. Don't let Hollywood and the New York Time fool you. |

He spoke out against genocide to the public, many khmer rouge survivors goes about without telling their stories. Many are unwilling to speak about it. Just think of it like this, if you had a bad experience, would you want to recollect it? He talked about his experiences and warn others that genocide is still going on in places like Sudan.

Applepannic, if they give any victim a good job in the US, they will speak to the public too.
Regular Victims can't just knock on our TV station every day and demand to speak nor to make a show about them for Hollywood, you know? In any case, how did Hollywood said about him escaping detection of being educated from the Khmer Rouge? I remembered they said he negotiated with the Khmer Rouge to let a couple westerner Journalists off the hook. The way I see it is Westerner journalists don't hang out with uneducated people. I don't think anyone gave him a job to speak, he spoke to share his experiences. You don't demand a television show to speak about your story if you yourself can't come to terms with it. I remember when I visited cambodia in the early 2000s, there was hardly any mention of anything regarding the past. I can understand that, it was a small village and the people looked to the future. They repressed what was bad, which was very understandable. He told the Khmer Rouge that the journalist were French in favor of the regime, and he was forced to seperate from the rest of the people. Not everyone will know who is educated, his captors may have not known about his past with these journalist.

QUOTE(applepannic @ Apr 1 2008, 05:40 PM) He told the Khmer Rouge that the journalist were French in favor of the regime, ... So your argument here is by just telling the Khmer Rouge that the journalist were French and in favor of the regime, the Khmer Rouge wouldn't know that he associated with those journalists? Is that what you are telling us? Stop making a fool of yourself here, buddy. It's Hollywood, doesn't matter from which direction you are looking at it. I'm sorry, but if you tell me something I'm not going to run around and tell it to anyone else, and I doubt the all the Khmer Rouge had knowledge that he assocaited with journalist. You're straddling his memory, its disrepectful child.

When you are the first photographer at the scene of the illegal bombings, espcially the one at Anlong Veng, then you do have a story to tell, with your lens.
My aunt was there, they bombed the village in the early morning when the markets are full as usuam and blood and guts was up to her ankels. Every survivor tells their story, many go crazy and don't know what to make of it, Dith Pran put in in the limelight. Many Khmers in America despise Dith Pran, and many of them were KR supporters. How did dith pran hurt us? This post has been edited by Point_Dexter: Apr 1 2008, 09:41 PM |

Denith, where did you see me call him Pol Pot.
I said the shoe fit, and that mean his like Pol Pot. Remember: Pol Pot want to change our culture to a one class culture with no rich and poor, marriage between two people is to be setup by government, ... While Pran, think our culture should follow American, where woman is free to jump from man to man like wild gorilla in the jungle ... . Thus, both Pran and Pol Pot are on the same boat. Just consider yourself lucky that he's not ruling Cambodia. Otherwise, you own kid may plug your forehead with a 22. If that is what you want, Denith, you should plant to move to the US. We Khmer has no plan to turn our region into a wild-wild-west. And to Pran, my last word to him is, "Bon Voyage to Hell, Moron!" This post has been edited by Voodoopro: Apr 2 2008, 08:31 PM |

Dith Pran is a witnessed to the Khmer Rouge ginocide. He is not the only one, I am one of them, and Makara and many people here in this world who do not wish to identify themselves. The Khmer Rouge soldiers killed many Khmer people in Thailand. |
