^ So it looks like the average Filipino is around 1/16th Negrito, and 1/16th Melanesian, so the equivalent of 1 black great grandparent on average. haha

oh, and looks like the highest Negrito/Melanesian ancestry is in Mindanao, not Luzon like ejay believes.

I dare they test the australoid ancestry amongst the poorest in Luzon

I didn't say all of luzon has high negrito percentage....just around greater manila and southern luzon area

Well Greater Manila would be classified as "West Luzon" so you can see the results on the chart. It has the smallest percentage of Negrito ancestry of all the Filipino groups on the chart (about 1/32nd). But then there's a slightly larger Melanesian component. We never even talk about that factor, but it's present in all the listed Filipino populations to some degree. And it makes sense because the Philippines is as close to Papua as it is to China. Random Melanesians probably ended up in the Philippines and absorbed into the general population.

^Maybe because they come from Mindanao, which has a fairly large Melanesian component (1/16th). I mean it is closest to Melanesia....

That doesn't make sense. People in Manila are supposed to look more like East Timorese people than the people in Mindanao, even though Mindanao is a lot closer to East Timor than Manila is? You can look at the chart and see that it doesn't go with that opinion. People in West Mindanao have more Melanesian than people in West Luzon.

The distance does not matter...mindanao population is not from east timor...most of them are migrants from visayas

If you look at the chart it states the whole of luzon....I am talking about the poor areas of greater manila
And yes the poor people of Manila do look more like east timorese..because they have higher australoid admixture then the 1/16th that mindanao has
on average the whole of luzon may have 1/32th...but within the poor in manila itself the percentage would be more like 1/3rd or 3/4th

So then the poor areas of Mindanao must have even higher Australoid admixture, dont you think? If Mindanao overall has more Australoid than Luzon, then there are probably urban areas in Mindanao that have higher rates of Australoid than Manila.

And yes, Mindanao was mostly settled by Visayans, but you have to go further back in history. People moved around a lot in the Malay Archipelago. Melanesians probably ended up in Mindanao, just like Filipinos might have ended up in East Timor. People didnt just stay within their countries, because there were no countries as we know it back then.

And people who are 3/4th Negrito or Melanesian would just be considered Negrito. And you dont see many Negritos at all in Manila. I dont think I've ever seen one. It's just like with African Americans. If you are even 1/4th black, then you're considered black by society, unless you can pass for white. It's probably the same with Negritos. Anything less than 1/4th probably just passes as a regular Filipino, anything more than 1/4th probably gets labeled as Negrito.

umm australoids were not a seafaring people...negritos or melanesians had no seaworthy craft

its austronesians who settled in australoid populated areas....not the other way around

mindnao has some negrito or melanesian mixed ethnic minorities (manobo, etc)..but visayan and luzon migrants make up the majority of the population

LOL your kidding me right...many of the mt pinatubo aetas settled in manila
plenty of the ultra poor in manila look like australoid hybrids

lol there r 3/4th negrito or melanesians who just identify as tagalogs...

^ right, because all people in Mindanao look like them. You're such a dumbass. And besides. It's the poor people in Mindanao that probably have Australoid blood, those people are obviously not poor.

You're just saying a lot of nothing now. The chart shows that Melanesians exist in all the Filipino populations on the chart. It happens to be highest in Mindanao. That is all. I dont know how they got there. They could have traveled on land bridges, they could have already been there, just like the Negritos. Really, it doesn't matter. They got there somehow, and they're more present in Mindanao than in Luzon. Since you say they couldnt travel, how the hell do you think they got in Luzon? You keep saying they're in Luzon, but now you're saying that they didnt travel to the Philippines. You're not making sense.

On the chart, people who identify as Aeta are really less than 50% Negrito, (yellow/orange bar) They actually have more Taiwanese Aborigine. But since the Negrito phenotype is dominant, they still look physically more Negrito.

LOL mindanao's poorest would be melanesian/negrito groups...since they pretty much live in the jungle...you were claiming that the poorest in Manila have less australoid admixture then anybody in Mindanao or Visayas..

LOL you do know that Philippines was connected to the continent before....all the australoids traveled to Pinas when it was still connected...sea levels rose and they became trapped

I said they couldn't travel by sea...I didnt say they couldn't travel...

Again, when did I ever say that??? Never. I was simply saying that the general population of West Mindanao has more Negrito & Melanesian than the general population of West Luzon. Most of the poor population in BOTH places probably has high Australoid admixture, but since the general population of Mindanao has more Australoid than in Luzon, it's safe to assume that the poor people of Mindanao would have more Australoid than the poor people of Luzon.

you dont understand anything. If the general population is more Australoid, then the poor population is definitely gonna be more Australoid. West Luzon is less Australoid than West Mindanao. It's on the chart...

Look, if the general population of Luzon is less Australoid than the general population of Mindanao, then you can expect that the poor people of Luzon will be less Australoid than the poor people of Mindanao. Does that make sense? If it doesnt then you're a complete dumbass.

what im arguing is, the poor of Mindanao are more Australoid than the poor of Luzon.

I would say the poor of both groups would probably be dead even comsidering the poorest of mindanao would probably consist of almost pure melanesian or negrito...and poor of manila are pretty much australoid..if you take into account maranao then mindanao would be less austra...but if you compare poor austras then they would be dead even

According to to charts the Mamnawa Negritos of Mindanao are the most Australoid and the Philippine government already preserving them so hopefully their population would increase.

dude everyone agrees that negritos were already here in Philippines...but it is foolhardy to claim everyone is 1/4th negrito ....negrito populations were not huge and sprawling....not even the greatest ancient civilizations had the population you suggest negritos had

do you expect a people who depended on foraging and hunting to number in the 10s of millions like you suggest??

Not again...

I said that probably 1/4 of the ancestry of your average Filipino is AUSTRALOID - NOT NECESSARILY NEGRITO. More of Proto-Ainuid and Papuan mix. Most Australoid-looking people in the slums for one do NOT resemble Negritos - but Papuans!

The better question would be: Do you expect a SPECIES WHO DEPENDED ON FORAGING AND HUNTING to number 6,000,000,000 in the PRESENT AGE? rotflmao.gif

QUOTE (kermit_criminal @ Aug 9 2011, 07:42 AM) *
that is pretty clear to see with the naked eye. i mean... my dad's side of the family from zamboanga are all big guys and brown filipinos. my moms side are all little chinese looking people from pampanga

Pampanga had a thriving Chinese community even before the Spaniards conquered the Philippines.

QUOTE (Graham_Cracker07 @ Aug 9 2011, 07:54 AM) *
^ Yeah, that goes with the chart. In Western Mindanao, there's more Melanesian blood than East Asian blood. In Western Luzon, it's the opposite. Makes sense because Mindanao is closer to Melanesia/Papua, Luzon is closer to China.

It also shows that Western Mindanao has the highest Indian blood (around 1/16th), which makes a lot of sense too because it was part of Indian kingdoms.

And not only that... Luzon is also closer to China. The name Luzon is allegedly derived from a Chinese word liu-sung. On the other hand, Mindanao was always known as MAGINDANAO - a very Malay sounding word. It was also known as the Great Moluccas (classified as the northernmost part of the Moluccas island chain) - and we all know that most Moluccans are mixed Papuan/Austronesian.
