I don't think she looks that done. She mostly looks like she's lost weight and been photoshopped in the after pics. In the before pic she looks like a kid with baby fat and no photoshop/computer touch ups. The after pics look unnatural in a computerized fake way, not so much a plastic surgery fake way. She might have had a little done, or maybe not. But I don't think she looks completely different, she's just wearing contacts and she's thinner and she's photoshopped. She looks better in the before though.
*edit: I think the same of most of the girls in the "funny Korean girls" link. They mostly look photoshopped differently in the afters, and sometimes not photoshopped at all in the befores. You can't really compare how someone looks when they're schoolgirls to how they look after they've had make-overs to look more fashionable/pretty. I know I look completely different from how I did when I was a young teenager, but I haven't had plastic surgery. The only ones where I think they had work done are Chae Eun Jung and Chae Siah. Mostly they just look airbrushed and photoshopped differently for different pictures. This post has been edited by Nadja: Nov 5 2004, 06:19 AM |

^about kim nam ji i agree with you on your view since she is quite young(born in 88) and just an average girl. she'd have used a cosmetic product that probably gets her double and bigger eyed. but the celebrities on the link seirously have done tones of plastic surgery i think.

QUOTE (lovelyfart @ Nov 5 2004, 05:04 AM) ^about kim nam ji i agree with you on your view since she is quite young(born in 88) and just an average girl. she'd have used a cosmetic product that probably gets her double and bigger eyed. but the celebrities on the link seirously have done tones of plastic surgery i think. I disagree. I only saw maybe four or five that I thought might have had a little done, the most noticeable ones I thought were Chae Eun Jung and Chae Siah. The ones I saw that looked like they had something done looked like they had their eyes done (I find it really gross when people do that). Other than that most of them, if you take away their hair and make-up and the weird colors of the photoshopping and fake tans/photoshopped light skin and all that crap...their physical features look about the same to me. And a lot of them look really different in a super-computerized way. Not looks that are achievable through cosmetic surgery. Anyway, I'm a bit annoyed at how much people love to talk about how Korean girls are so fake. They're not. Yeah, some media stars are fake, but that's true of any country. And Korea does have plastic surgeons, but it's not only Koreans who get work done. I read this awhile back, but I dug it up because it's so fu-king funny (a bit off-topic and it's pretty old news so everyone's probably heard about it already, but I'll share it anyway): "Mr. Jian Feng, of Hegang in northern China, suspicious when his wife gave birth to a baby he regarded as seriously ugly, got her to admit that, though she was not adulterous, she had herself been seriously ugly before she met Jian, but had had major plastic surgery in South Korea and now did not much resemble her genetic look. (Even so, Jian divorced her and in May sued her for fraud.)" [BBC News-Reuters, 2-5-04] |

yea i also noticed people here tend to think nearly every good looking korean girl has done the job. sadly, the plain truth is that almost every single korean celebrity has done it at least few times or several times. the girls in the pictures posted are pretty well known in korea and i have frequently seen them on tv for many years. so i may have a better eye on this since i've watched on them way more times than you. they can't just look so different from before only with graphic effects and cosmetics unless they are comepletely created by photoshop.
and what i found interesting is that their looks have constantly been changing even after they became stars, which means they kept undergoing the surgery in their inactive period. as new and better looking faces continuously appeared to the public and the standard of popular beauty has been higher, they might have felt the need for the change of their looks. This is true in some cases, but even though I've been out of Korea for quite awhile, I'm not completely unknowing of Korean TV and such. While there are plenty of media stars that get work done in Korea, just like in EVERY OTHER COUNTRY, there are a lot who don't. In a lot of the pics in the link I could see vast differences in coloring, weight, lighting, contacts, and hair work. But when I actually looked at the shapes of eyes, noses, and lips they looked the same to me. Some that looked very different looked unnatural even for plastic surgery. Too unnatural to have been created without huge aid from computer technology. |

you see, not all the pictures were edited with computer. besides even the 'after' pictures were pretty old ones. they were taken like years ago and the celebrities in the pics look even more different now.
QUOTE But when I actually looked at the shapes of eyes, noses, and lips they looked the same to me. because plastic surgery doesn't 'completely' change their looks, i assume that there is some resemblance between the before pic and the after one. QUOTE Some that looked very different looked unnatural even for plastic surgery. Too unnatural to have been created without huge aid from computer technology. computerizing, contacts, lightening, and other effects can be the factor that makes them look different but as i said before they can't affect their looks as much as plastic surgery can execpt if the shapes of nose, eyes, etcs are actually changed with computer graphic tools. Actually, I think all the after pictures were edited with computers, some only a little and most a whole hell of a lot. Publicity shots and magazine pictures usually are. People can change over the years, when I look at those pictures I see mostly the same features but vastly different hair, make-up, eye coloring, and skin tone (photoshopping/fake tans). I'm inclined to think that when eye shape, nose shape, and lip shape doesn't look any different that no plastic surgery has taken place. Call me insane, but that's what I think. And for some of these pics, well some of them look fu-king insane. The difference isn't possible even with plastic surgery. In a few shots the girls' eyes look changed, and not changed in that they had eye-fold surgery. Some looked like they photoshopped their eyeballs to look inhumanly huge. There isn't a surgery to make your eyeballs bigger. I think that photoshopping, lighting, and computer graphic tools can change the way someone looks even more than plastic surgery. I've seen plenty of before and after pics of plastic surgery on the net, and I know what that looks like. Some of the pics in that link look like plastic surgery was done, but the vast majority doesn't. People just like to jump to the conclusion that plastic surgery was done because of some impulse to discredit the idea that Korean women can be naturally beautiful. |

QUOTE (onepairofpant @ Nov 5 2004, 03:05 PM) Did you see the pics of Chae Rina? She looks horrible in the after pics. I don't think she's had plastic surgery, or if she has I can't tell. She just looks older and fu-king weird @$$ tanned. What the hell look was she going for? She looked like putty in some of those pics. And she was sooo adorable in the before pic. |
