This is an interesting question. What happens in China politically and socially when the communists/CCP are thrown out, specifically who is going to be the new ruling party or movement. Since China is becoming more capitalist and has a flourishing open market it can eventually turn into a semi-globalist nation that gets its laws from an international organization like the UN. A religion that becomes popular with the majority of the lower-class can organize itself into a rebellion that is ruled by theocrats demanding freedom and opportunities for China's less fortunate but end up being authoritarian.

very gooooooood question.
the answer is : regardless of nationalities, regardless of which country, regardless of which time period. It has always been the differences between the rich and poor. the rich is always taking advantage of the poor. It is always very difficult for the poor to move up, even for just a little bit. the rich always has resources, access, money, influences to influence politicans, govts, kings, presidents. etc etc. money not only talks , it also carries a very big stick. that is why the word democracy is sooooooo important for any country. The larger group of poor can vote out any corrupt and dishonest leaders who are NOT serving them. that is why your mainland china is heading the down the path no one can follow. china must continue to use proprganda , put a carrot in front of the donkey. china maybe fooling their own citizens. but the rest of the world see the CCP very clearly for what it is. A facist /dictatorship state that is very repressive. |

I think a semi-democracy will arise. A place like china seeped in strong culture and traditions will move slowly toward a full fledge Western style democracy (IMHO).
As for my preference, I would prefer if China is a cross between your typical SE asian country and a country like the US. If China can pull the best out of Western democracy and keep essence from its culture that are good (note I didn't say they're all good) then it will be a country that will become powerful real quick. |

A dictatorial democracy like Singapore with the same strict laws would benefit China greatly.

Anti-American Chinese People:
More seriously: I think the question is silly. China will progressively transform itself over time. The "communist" of today is different from the communist of the past and the communist of the future will be different from the ones today. My only hope is that the communist of the future will be as dedicated to to common man (and woman) as today; Unlike what is happenning in the US where the common man is being shoved out of the way in favor of the rich and the corporations. It would be sad to see China go the direction that the US is heading. This post has been edited by House: Nov 29 2005, 03:42 AM |

It would be sad to see China go the direction that the US is heading. That's EXACTLY what happened in the 1950s. After Mao took power, he put in "good" men that he fought with and knew well. These guys were communists defined. However, after the first 8 years in power and so, the guys became bourgeoise, and the CCP became mired in beauraucracy. You can't help it. In such a large society, it's easy to become enamored in status and sell others out. All capitalist countries go the direction of the US. Capitalism favors the wealthy, not the common man. It is communism that favors the common man (or true communism, to all you anti-Red fellows), but that has been seen not to work. You'll have to wait until China gets sick of capitalism, or a new developed and accessible version of communism comes along. This post has been edited by Suijen: Nov 29 2005, 12:17 PM |
