we can be dark-skinned and pale skinned, with hazel, green or blue (not often) eyes, with black hair or light colored hair, with pure mongoloid or eurasian phenotype i suppose the ones with blue eyes and light colored hair are from germany or russia right? i read how stalin deported some germans to kazahkstan. that's why there are so many white people there. |

I think you have stirred feelings in several people who are now stabbing themselves. I just wanted to see if people could figure out her gender. Apparently, they got her gender right. I was originally wrong about her because she was very boyish during her earlier singing career. |

@OP, yes I've been confused with another Asian lol, since you gave some examples of mistakes by whites I'll focus on this in my answer too... -when I was little whites would often confuse me and my sister lol and we're not even twins or look alike.. whites can be so dumb lol -when my hair is dyed whites overhere in Belgium will mistake me for Japanese, when it's not than Chinese, but never ever Korean -one time I was entering a store with this Peruvian like beanie on and the shopkeeper mistook me for a Peruvian lol -my mom has this picture of a hill tribe girl hanging in her living room and my brother in law (oblivious to the rings around the girl's neck and different facial feautures) would ask if that was me lol -once I was at a Thai restaurant and some woman thought I was Thai and asked me for the menu let's hug again, for as long as you want This post has been edited by fireplant: Sep 30 2011, 07:02 PM |

I am usually pretty good at distinguishing different NE Asians, but I never rely on it until I have something more than looks to go on. I even had doubts the night I met one of my best friends.
I was in my favorite bar and staff decided to test me. They insisted that the guy I had been eyeing was Japanese, though I was convinced he was Korean, and they even got him in on the game. Eventually he came over and introduced himself in a broken combination of Japanese & English. We talked for a few minutes and just as I was admitting to him that I had thought he was Korean, one of the other guys passed his bottle of soju to us and told him, in less than polite Korean, to stop the charade and refill my drink because he is first generation Korean-American. But I have a friend from mainland China that will always look Vietnamese to me for some unknown reason. |
