QUOTE (DarkChaos @ Oct 18 2005, 11:32 AM) Aside from actually taking a class, you can actually teach yourself a good deal through resources online. People may not believe it, but shows and songs actually do help with memorization. There are plenty of sites online dedicated to teaching Japanese. Then there's this thread I made... http://www.asiafinest.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42965 |

There are many, but if you spend two weeks memorizing the kana (hiragana/katakana), you'll notice that it's not so hard as it seems. I started with hiragana and memorized 5 each day, sometimes more. There are 46 of each, so that will take you around 18 days. Then you have the kanji. Start small and memorize just a couple a day. They are more complex, so it will take a bit longer to learn how to draw them. Two great resources are The Kanji Site and The Japanese Page. Pimsleur and Rosetta Stone courses are also good to have. They're a good way to learn common phrases and proper pronounciation. They are also designed to help you progress fast, so your motivation will stay high. |
