They chose to assimilate into the superior Chinese culture, what can I say? Exactly how do you define Chinese? Chinese is a large assimilation of different cultures and ethnic groups so if that were true, your argument is already destroyed to begin with. For one, Japan did not even have close to half the natural resources the U.S. or China had in building her military weapons.

Y'know, if you're really Taiwanese, I do not understand why you have such deep-rooted anti-Chinese sentiments. China is already a military behemoth and is fast becoming an economic superpower. As much as I respect Taiwan's right to map out its political future and claim sovereignty, you cannot deny that China's claim to the island is extremely substantial. Nor can you deny that Taiwanese people are essentially Chinese.
