8) There had been numerous theories proposing the origin of this legendary King of nowadays Thailand. Among others are: He was a son of a Chinese Emperor, He was a rich Chinese merchant from Petchaburi province (Van Vlit’s Chronicles), He was a son of a king from ChiangSaen, A Sultan from Malaya, etc. In this article I am proposing yet another theory that: He was the leader of the Siamese people who were fleeing the “killing field” at Angkor. The killing field ensued from a revolt by the slaves who formed a huge majority at Angkor. And the leader of the slaves was Trosok Pream.

I think it's not a killing field but an epidemic that caused King U-Tong had to move his court to Ayodhya. Those who were still in Angkor, led by Trosok Peam simply took the power, and declared himself the first king of Khmers.

Let me post a story taken from the Chronicle of northern states (Chinakanmalee)

(Sorry for low quality, it was scanned from a book.)

It talked about a king named "Rama Thi Bodi Kamphote Chato AKhantawa" who came from Kamphote Manakorn. He took the city of Chainatburi (today Chainat) and let his chief officer rule Chainatburi and he himself went to rule "Ayocha Mahanakorn." Later Pya Dhammaracha asked for the city of Chainat, so he gave him Chainat and let his chief officer go back to Suvarnabhumi (Suphanburi)

That chief officer is said to be Khun Luang Pa Ngua (his brother) and Pya Dhammaracha is said to be King Dhammaracha Li Tai of Sukhothai.

"Rama Thi Bodi Kamphot Chato AKhantawa" was "King U-Thong" or King Ramathibodi I of Ayudhaya.

And "Ayocha Mahanakorn" was Ayodhaya or Ayudhaya.

It said clearly that he moved from Kamphote Manakorn to Ayudhaya.

He was 100% related some how to the kings in Yasodharapura.

The story on the part why he moved from Kamphote to Ayudhaya is still missing.

Probably because of epidemic like you said, and he let Trosok Peam to rule the abandoned city but Trosok Peam declared himself as the king and challenged the power of Ayudhaya.

That make sense. icon_smile.gif

Yes, it makes sense!

I've just read this book, เขมรรบไทย. It stated that King Narai the great claimed Ayutthaya kings were descent of Yasodharapura king. Also, Van Valit, French ambassador to Siam, he recorded that Siamese people remembered that King U-Tong built Nakorn Luang (Yasodhrapura). icon_smile.gif
