LUNCH WITH TOMMY LEE
Issue of 2006-01-09
Posted 2006-01-02

Tommy Lee Jones, actor, producer, and first-time big-screen director, was having lunch the other day at The Players club, in Gramercy Park. Jones appears in his new movie, “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,” as a gray-bearded, sun-fried Texas rancher named Pete. He wears scuffed boots and dirty jeans. He speaks Spanish as well as English. He plays the loyal friend of an illegal Mexican immigrant who is mysteriously murdered. Now out of character, Jones, clad in dark Prada and Hermès, looked clean-shaven and barbered. He chose to sit downstairs, in the Grill Room, near an old pool table and a huge fireplace.

Jones pressed his large hands flat against his cheekbones. “It’s been a rough six weeks, travelling with the film. We’ve been to France, Toronto, and Morelia, in Mexico. In Japan, I took three days for myself, to go to biggrin.gif Kyoto, one of my favorite cities in all the world. biggrin.gif Then to New York, to talk to journalists,

You might want to change your thread title to "Tommy Lee Jones'" favourite city because I was expecting to read what the former Motley Crue drummer thinks of Japan in his oh so eloquent wording. embarassedlaugh.gif

I've been to kyoto. Probably most boring place you will ever visit in Japan. Other than that, it was a very calm place. A suitable city for people who are above 50.

yeah, Tokyo seems to be far more attractive, exciting and dynamic place than Kyoto. I'd definitely visit Tokyo if I had the chance, and when I want serene-ness and tranquility I'll visit Kyoto.

It's not a dumb question.
What makes the opinion of B-list celebrities important to the average person?

It's not like you listed people noted for their good taste either? icon_rolleyes.gif
