Taste of Thailand
http://www.marneethaisf.com/taste.html

The South
"The tastes and ingredients of that cultural exchange linger today in dishes like gaeng mussamun, an aromatic Indian-style beef curry thickened with coconut milk and redolent of cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and locally grown pineapple. Grilled chicken satay with peanut sauce, also common in Indonesia and Malaysia, is another adopted dish that Southern Thais serve with their own flair."

Satay and peanut sauce came from Malaysia & Indonesia. embarassedlaugh.gif

I still am unable to come up with an authentic Siamese dish besides rice with water.

No Satay is Malay/indo/Southern Thai dish, not central Thai authentic food.

On the other hand, Payapa Salad is a Thai authentic food.

I think he would say that while Thai papaya arrived Thailand by sea from S. America, ancient Lao people brought Lao papaya from Tibet when they migrated to suvannabhumi land. embarassedlaugh.gif

Thai cuisine is infused with Laotian elements.

Larb, Sticky Rice, and Papaya Salad...popular Laotian dishes that became a part of Thai cuisine due to our Laotian influences in Thailand. Cambodians love our Laotian dishes too since Cambodian cuisine also has Laotian dishes. The more, the merrier! embarassedlaugh.gif

pssh, there's a lot of pork satays all over Indo
(Indo is NOT an islamic country) alcohol is widely available for everyone, pork, dog, bikinis, etc. too
it's just a country with lots of (moderate) muslims and some occasional radicals
pork satay:

my fav indo pork:

Indo has lots of ethnicities, the ones with the biggest population are in fact muslims, but there are a lot of hindu, christian and buddhist minorities with their own cuisine and we have the chinese people with their cuisine.
we also have animist who are pretending to be muslim but eat pork etc. (Indo law is that you have to believe in a god, to get a passport they just say that they're muslim for the advantages)

I don't care if thailand promotes their version of satay
it's just like kimbimbap, we all know that it originated in japan (sushi)
just like that the sate with whatever kind of meat originated in indo (heck we even got turtle satay YUMMMM)

Hmmm the peanut sauce looks good, the a-jad too icon_smile.gif the satay not so, it's chicken right?
Usually I'm not fond with the Indo 'Acar Ketemun:

But is has the same ingredients as the A-Jad. Sometimes we add carrots too.

We have different versions of peanut sauce, each one for a different dish (pecel, gado-gado, sate, etc)
The ingredients for the satay peanut sauce is usually: peanuts, coconut milk, garlic, chilies, palm sugar, sweet soy sauce, lime leafes, kencur, key limes.

My fav sate:
(Lamb satay, served with spicy soy sauce, not peanut sauce)

Sate Padang:
(Beef satay from the city of Padang, served with Padang style sauce)

Sate Kura-kura:
(Turtle satay, served with no extra sauce)

Sate Ayam:
(Chicken satay, served with peanut sauce. The thinner the meat, the tastier it gets)

Sate Lilit:
(Minced chicken satay from bali, served with chili sauce. They use lemon grass instead of skewers)

Sate Usus:
(Chicken intenstine satay, served dry)

Sate Anjing:
(Dog meat satay)

Sate Ular:
(Snake satay)

Sate Buaya:
(Crocodile satay)
