i don't like the wedding dress and style in this film:
Bride war (Co dau dai chien). I don't seem to understand what kind of daemon in this: Campus Ghosts. And this is so "bựa": Angel 99 ( Thien su 99 ) Anyways, these are just trailer... but... i was expecting more though... This post has been edited by KatoreaKitsune: Jan 21 2011, 01:26 AM |

Yes.
But it's for male angels only. Female angels are called thiên thần instead. |

Yes. But it's for male angels only. Female angels are called thiên thần instead. in Japanese it called "Tenshi" which mean: "Tian si" in Chinese and "Thiên Sứ & Thiên Thần" in Vietnamese, so i higly doubt it. i afraid that Thiên Thần and Thiên Sứ is not difference... well, I can say: "He is not an angel" as "Anh ta không phải là 1 thiên thần." in Vietnamese. Source: try to search it with google. |

I think thiên thần and thiên sứ are the same for angle. Thiên thần = thần trên trời. Thiên sứ = sứ giả trên trời. In ancient time, there's no such thing as angles who habe wings like in Western. Asian people call them God or Thần, and so there're nam thần and nữ thần.
And yes, it's Sino-Vietnamese so it's like Tian Shi, we have our native words for it: Người Trời @HorrowingKitten: You're right. In ancient, people believed in the sky (trời) and sometimes they say there's a message from the sky and the person who brings the message is called thiên sứ. For example: Đi sứ means send (to a foreign country) as King's envoy. This post has been edited by papen: Jan 23 2011, 08:52 AM |

I know they are the same but their usage are different.
Thiên thần is more commonly used and more commonly associated with female angels. Thiên sứ is less commonly used and more commonly associated with male angels (or at least it's more associated with male compared to thiên thần) Of course you can say they both can be for male and female, since they are basically the same, and you wouldn't be incorrect if you used either of them for male and female angels. But growing up in Vietnamese, you should know the common usage well. If someone says "thiên thần", it's more likely a "nàng thiên thần" (chàng thiên thần seems a bit awkward). If someone says thiên sứ, it's more likely a "chàng thiên sứ" (nàng thiên sứ of Lưu Diệc Phi was obviously adopted from Chinese, where thiên sứ is more commonly used in place of thiên thần...but nàng thiên sứ isn't as awkward as chàng thiên thần) |

Vietnam makes some of the most stupid ghost movies. Should just stick with martial arts and romantic comedies. Anyone know where i can buy Vietnamese movies? This post has been edited by aman: Jan 29 2011, 07:11 AM |
