So, in my short studies about Cambodian Civil War, I am come across accounts of conflicts between Khmer Rouge group and Khmer Rumdo. From what I am understand, Khmer Rouge was very strict communist followers, very anti-western, who wished to establish new independent Socialist regime in their country. However, Khmer Rumdo is apparently some sort of followers from old Cambodian royalty, who also wants to make new system but instead of communism wants to have monarchy. During civil war these two groups is many times fight with each other, but in end of it Khmer Rouge becomes more powerful.

Am I right so far?

My question is this:
What exactly was political position of Khmer Rumdo? Was they stern anti-western like Khmer Rouge, or was they more like ARVN in Viet Nam who support west friendly government? Also, who was lead Khmer Rumdo, and what happen to them after civil war?
I am very interest about Cambodian history, especially because I am recently make some Khmer friends while I am visit UK. I know this subject maybe is a bit touchy with some people, and I hope I am not offend anyone. I only wish to know more about political factions in Cambodia during time of Civil War, and what standing Khmer Rumdo was taking.

I'm not talking about them " liberating " for 20 years and setting up a puppet in power. I meant Khmer Rouge forces.
