I am a expats living in Vietnam and I realize other ideals of every expats about living in Vietnam. Few days ago, I met my friend who came to Vietnam for working, he does not like living in Vietnam, and he asked : “ Why do you like living in Vietnam which is small and developing country? “ . I explain for him that there are three reasons which make me like living in Vietnam :
First: Living in Vietnam is more comfortable than in US. We will not get stress and life is easier, no much worried.
Two: Vietnamese is very friendly with foreigner. I was borned in US and I find that American is cold and unfriendly . Example as: when I had meal in Vietnam, Vietnameses like having meal together even they are not familiar with each other. They treat me like a family member. This made me realize that I am not alone in Vietnam.
Three: I like Vietnamese simple life, such as: night life of Ho Chi Minh, landscape Vietnam is very beautiful such as: Ha Long Bay, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet – Bụi Né…, I like listing story history of Vietnam, I can buy good food or nice clothes with middle price. I can house for rent which is beautiful, satisfied, and most important is cheap.
For me, Living in Vietnam is an brilliant idea. If he come back in Vietnam, I will make him realize that living in Vietnam is great. And you? If you need help such as: accommodation, information expats living in Vietnam, you can contact me at add: Living in Vietnam. Sure I will help you.

Visiting Viet nam

"I wanted to see Kontum where I was for part of the war so up we went on Highway 14. Backing up a bit, there is NOTHING familiar here. Everything is different from 41 years ago."

"We visited a Jarai village just south of Pleiku and the villagers had cell phones!"

"We drove out toward Cambodia toward the Oasis Firebase (nothing left) and also even the border is different. It was only ten miles or so from Pleiku when I was here. Now, it’s thirty miles! Can the border be moved? Why, yes it can."

"Advice to veterans of the Highlands, come back to see it because the people are truly wonderful but you will feel very disoriented the whole time here. Times have changed. It is not only true that you can’t go home again. You also can’t go back to the places of your youth again, either, including those of wartime. Keep your memories but don’t expect the present to back them up. The world moves on. We stay in the past at our own peril."

I talk to a friend that lives in Ho Chi Minh City and I am thinking of retiring in VN now. It is a beautiful place, and I am thinking it is inexpensive to live. I did go to the website you have a link to, and saw that apartments and houses are renting from $500 US Dollars and up. That is a little expensive. I am hoping to be able to find cheaper places to live. My friend just graduated from a University there and he is an architect. He makes 3.5 million VND and they are able to live on that. That is around $170 a month. I know there are places to live that are nice that are cheaper than $500 a month. At that price I can't afford to live over there either. I am wanting and looking to live there, but I need to be able to live cheap. icon_wink.gif icon_smile.gif
