It would be nice if ASEAN has a combined military organisation.

Hey, CAmbodia is not a home of Cham. But we do allow Cham to live in harmony with us. I only meant was that I felt a close affiity with the Cham in Cambodia, Nikkie. Didn't mean to imply anything else other than that. I like Durain as well. 1. Malaysia - malaccan comes from here. lol. Oi, Canuck boy. You're supposed to rank the countries according to your own affinity to them. 2. Singapore - a metropolis. 3. Brunei - small country, lots of rich people i think? 4. Indonesia - bali. ^____^ they have a language that sounds a lot like tagalog. 5. Thailand - growing economy, cool place (went there once), elephants. ^__^ 6. It would be nice if ASEAN has a combined military organisation. This would be the ultimate in ASEAN integration, but I think an ASEAN military organisation as a single entity is very unlikely to come into being. Taking a lead from Europe which integrated as they are, still don't have a standing European army as such. What we have here is a European Rapid Reaction Force, which is a pool of army units from the various states. But each individual government still has the power to make decisions whether its armed forces is to partake in any particular opeation. What about you Happy... how do you rank the countries in ASEAN in terms of familiarity/affinity? There's no wrong nor right answer. |

I could edit my earlier post to make it seem like you're answering a non-existent question and seem to be qute cuckoo, but I think that could backfire. Hmmm....Oh, sod it. What Vietnamese food do you like best? I haven't tried any. Every month I buy this product made in Vietnam from our local Chinese grocery store. ![]() Instant tau foo fah |

You should try them. They're really good. However, it also depends on the shop that you go to. So far I've only been to two good ones.
I like Pho (Beef Noodle). I think everyone does. I also like their Spring Rolls, Chao Tom (Some Grilled Shrimp Paste on Sugar Cane), Grilled Seafood etc. Can't really remember the others. |

I don't like Durian. Too smelly... Shut it you. But Durian chips! English is NOT my first language, you know.... I'll exercise my thread starter power and include you in the Clan whether you like it or not ( but you have been known to post in the Malaysian and Indonesian Chats, so I'll take that as a yes, ok? Back to topic, learning about ASEAN countries. This is a really cool-looking building in Bangkok. It's called the Chang building, which means elephant. No surprises here.

I never used to think it was in a shape of an elephant before.
I always used to think it was a giant "M". I wasn't a very imaginative child... |

^I'm not sure, but I think so
here's my list of most to least familiar Myanmar Thailand Malaysia Singapore Cambodia Laos Indonesia Philippines Vietnam Brunei What do you make of Malaysia and Singapore sweetnT? Myanmar actually had strong ties to Malaya and Singapore before, when they were all under British rule. You don't know much about Brunei yeah? It has strong economic and military ties to Singapore. Bruneian and Singaporean currencies are the only two currencies in ASEAN which are 100% legal tender in each other's territories. They have equal value. Singapore govt's investment arm, Temasek Holdings, advises Brunei on its investments abroad. Britian still sends its troops to the Bruneian jungle for training. I never used to think it was in a shape of an elephant before. Aww bless. Can you confirm it's an office building? I always used to think it was a giant "M". I wasn't a very imaginative child... i edited the first post btw. Yes, but: excuse you! This is gonna be a running theme, isn't it? i did no such thing! >:O how dare you accuse me. :P This post has been edited by ham_let: Mar 7 2006, 04:48 PM |
